Yes choking the grip hand up the butt of the cue and doing some practice delivery / quick backswings adjacent to the cue ball will help here

Hello Nic, Your "cushion punch" was used by George Chenier ( the father of modern snooker ) during his trick shots. He would shoot the blue ball off the spot into the side pocket and draw the cue ball back into the side pocket before the blue dropped. If you don,t know about the modern snooker comment, let me know.

@@TheSnookerGym Hello Nic, George Chenier was a snooker player from Montreal and went to Chicago (40's ?) and played pool. At that time there were many pool halls around "The Loop". Straight Pool, or 14-1 was the game of the time. As you know the tactic of 14-1 is to pot a ball and break open clusters of balls to free them up and continue the run. At that time snooker players would pot the open balls and then play safe behind the colours. When George returned to Canada he would aggressively carom into the reds off the black and blue developing more open reds. ( Hence my Father of modern snooker comment ) George was the first player to run a 147 in a sanctioned tournament. George did venture to England and played Joe Davis. There was a newspaper item in which Davis noted George's effortless use of deep reverse screw. I am a certified instructor and enjoy comparing my own teaching methods to yours. Thank you Bruce Butler

I lost a frame by playing the blue and leaving it on the pocket. Opponent potted blu, pink & black for a re-spotted black & doubled a decent safety I played 😅
