Part of my personal collection includes a 10 piece modern Seiko collection and it’s 80% quartz. You can’t truly appreciate Seiko without appreciating quartz movements, it was Seiko that brought quartz as a serious watch engine to the masses.
Anyone who has been bitten by the Seiko bug knows that 1, or 2, or even 3 Seikos is never enough 😅

Just bought my 4th lol.
I got into watches during the pandemic. I now have a blue Seiko 5 Sports, a Seiko Presage (Manhattan 38mm) and a Presage Style 60s (Ginza). Also have a great Casio and a Citizen, but my most wanted watches are all Seikos lol. Prolly will pick up an Alpinist next.
Watch @ 2:43 is NOT the "Willard." The "Captain Willard" is the 6105-8110, which came after the 6105-8000, which is the watch this watch is a reissue of.

Facts! The modern interpretations feel more like 6309 descendants, just because the 6105 lines are held in such high regard, and are such special watches.
This LITERALLY happened to me. I've unintentionally ended up with a bunch of Seikos. From vintage Credor to neo-vintage to a modern daily beater... they have such a diverse collection! I'm just not a big fan of the new SKX replacement which they seem to be milking like hell. But most of the other stuff with its true heritage is unmatched for its price (in most cases at least)!

I think Seiko did OK making the SKX replacement a Seiko 5 lineup. If the SKX was part of their Prospex line and charge 500- 600 everyone would of lost it. Seiko purist hate the Alpanist and the King Seiko for the same reason. High price watches with a regular in-house movement.

Can you expand on vintage Credor watches? I've considered buying one sometimes, but I don't have a lot of time to research, and I know nothing about them.
Seiko ssc813 - chronograph (land) Seiko spb143 - diver (sea) Seiko ssk003 - GMT (air) Change my mind
I have the 62MAS SPB297 and it's perfection. Weight, dial, size and the presence on the wrist. Perfection.
The Seiko 5 is pure class. I have the green patterned (Sense) dial, and it is great. Changing the NATO straps is a way to change the appearance of the watch too.
The black and orange flieger is my daily driver. Absolutely love it and surprisingly versatile

I love Seiko 5’s. I always buy ones then I sell them and buy new ones. Becouse I dont need to make a profit from them but I can get to know my own taste by testing so many watches and wearing them for a while and finally buy the only one. I dont think that happen very soon ;) cheers to all Seiko Fans! :)
I have an old seiko 6M13 "Age of Discovery" Perpetual Calendar. It's still one of my favourite pieces.
great brand! you may like or not but you cannot deny the value and variaty they offer. plus, they have their own language and not another me too brand. i recently got the alpinist re interpretation 1959 sbpj245 and love it. the finish for the price is amazing and i find so quick and easy to read. great video as always guys!

Wonderful watch making. This brand is on my list of things I must have. Thanks Tom. Keep up the average work Andrew😊
You reinvented yourself and your channel ! Love it !!!!
I’ve gotta admit, I’m a Seiko fan. Just picked up another vintage. Eyeballing that beautiful Presage!!
My ideal seiko collection Seiko Arnie- I can't explain it but it's my favorite seiko diver rn. Seiko RAF- Represents their dominance over the swiss in a very tangible way. Piece of history. Seiko SRPH78 Gold Fuyu- Just look at it. Seiko Wired AGAM701 Royale- Bit of a deep cut, but it's a reissue of the seiko worn by james bond, a digital beater if I don't want to abuse the Arnie. Lastly Seiko Wired AGAV022- Probably my favorite rally chronograph from Seiko. Damned rare to find though. Though I do admit all of these have citizen equivalents I like just as much.
I have a 6139-8020 from 1971, recently serviced and fresh n up a bit, and even though is a bit small for my mammoth wrists, I love it
Definitely Tom. I own the black, orange Seiko 5 Flieger style. I can attest that it makes you cool.
That King Seiko Turtle dial looks like the interior wall paper that you'd find in Doctor Who's TARDIS and that completely fine as they are both time machines.
Love that silver dial KS. Just wish it was available in a bigger size. 37mm just too dainty for most.
The black/orange flieger looks fantastic.
I LOVE my SRPH33K1, one of my favorite watches. I put a PVD black bracelet on mine for a little change up. Still the OEM straps are great.
Very interesting and pleasant conversation. The main characteristics of the watches and part of their history are highlighted.
“Well done” to both of you…..nice idea for a series, as well. 👍👍
I just love Seiko. The dials are amazing and often unique and they just keep getting better. That Alpinist was a stunning choice. I am routinely in the company of others where the likes of Rolex and Omega watches are common place, not being able to afford these, I avoid anything that remotely looks as though it is trying to ape these. Seiko is one of the few brands that offers unique design and look way more expensive than they are and fall within my budget.
My watch-loving friend asked me to wear my white dial '59 Alpinist recreation to our coffee meetup today. I like it a lot but wish it were a bit smaller in diameter and thickness. The SARB 017 Alpinist I also took along has a far better case shape. I own only 2 other Seikos including a still-running SQ I bought in 1980
I have the black and orange Seiko, it's one of my favorites.
I like the Alpinist 1959 reinterpretation, particularly in green, but even the black dial model is very striking. But that Presage Arita porcelain, that is simply classy. But my absolute favorite is the King Seiko 110th Anniversary Limited edition (model SPB365). I like all the King Seikos, but this Limited Edition is to die for! You're right, it's encroaching on Grand Seiko territory, but won't break the bank to buy it. A real stunner!
I just recently acquired a new Seiko Alpinist with a green dial. Terrific daily wearer, strap monster.
When I was building my collection, I tried to make it more varied between brands within a reasonable spend. Turns out, Seiko make it very difficult by virtue of having so many excellent watches that cover the spectrum of watch types.
The Seiko Presage enamel dial for me. So elegant.
If any brand could be the singular one for a complete watch collection, it would be Seiko. There's just so much to choose from vintage to new and everything in-between. And, I have personally contemplated that idea on more than one occasion. If didn't like a lot of watches outside of Seiko, I could easily be fairly happy with an all Seiko collection. As it is, Seiko already has the greatest # of representatives in my watch collection.
Tom's picks win easily for me here. I'd happily own all three of his choices.
The turtle king Seiko is such a great looking watch. It would be on my “10 watches I want so BAD” list. So many seikos to get.

When people "collect" outside of watches, they usually do so based on some kind of bracket. Watch collectors tend to be a bit more eclectic. I myself, like the idea of collecting a "type" such as automatic chronographs (particularly appealing to me) or a single brand. If I were to collect a single brand, without doubt, it would be Seiko. Their range is extensive, varied, very appealing.and above all accessible. Their cheaper watches are appealing and collectable and Grand Seiko are more appealing (to me anyway) than the likes of Rolex. Seiko for the win.
Nice lineup. Try the same competition with Bulova. Wide variety of styles and price points. I have an idea on my three.
I own a Seiko Presage I got for about 600 USD and it's about +/- 4 seconds a day, with hacking. 4R39 movement.... very nice watch for the price
Best video in a while
Recently my collection is turning 90% Citizen watches most of the of titanium. I think is the one of few brands, who offer all the watch options made of titanium at very reasonable price, also in quartz or automatic movements which ever you prefer

I ordered a Citizen Promaster Land Titanium (JDM) from overseas a few months back. Beautiful watch at a very affordable price. It's my first Eco Drive watch and even sitting on my desk, it remains charged and keeps seriously accurate time. I lean toward automatic watches but the Eco Drive is a great one that you don't have to worry about a dead battery.
Can you make a video that covers dan Henry watches. I purchased 1970 model and I pleasantly surprised.
Seiko, including grand Seiko is my favourite watch company. I would have to include a Seiko Prospex "Marine Master" SLA023J, blue dial and ceramic bezel.
Already have two baby tuna's automatic. The only seiko design I love ( urban safari and save the ocean ).
I believe you just made a 6 watch collection😊 Keep up the fabulous posts!
Skx 009, sarb033 and sarb017 here. Cheers!
Seikos with black dials. That’s my jazz. SNK809K1, SNXA07, SKX007K2, SPB117J1. Wish I had a SLA033 in the lineup, but I will save that money to get a SNR029J1 in the future.
Discovering vintage. King Seiko, skyliner from the 70s .. there are some beauties out there
I would go with the heritage turtle and the laurel enamel and… i would call it a day. Both great choices gents! Congrats
Seiko Flightmaster needs to be on that list.
Got the grey Alpinist reinterpretation about half a year ago and it’s getting nearly all the wrist time. I kindly have to force myself to wear one of my other 12 watches from time to time 😏. It‘s the embodyment of a GADA watch for me
Do this with Tissot and/or Orient (+orientstar) and/or Citizen and/or Timex too please
I have a Seiko SNXL72, and I am going to be buying a Seiko King Turtle Save the Ocean with the Manta Ray dial, So I have a Gold Day Date, and a cool Diver, the only other watch for me is the Sugess Bluestone Moonphase Master, that is my 3 watch collection.
I absolutely can NOT determine between your two lists. Both great.
I've done this as well. At one point, half my collection was from Zelos. I've diversified a bit now, but they're still about 1/4 of the collection. And please do this again with different brands like Orient or Casio. This would make for a fun series

Mine is now primarily composed of Seikos, Tissots, and Hamiltons, with a Zelos and a Citizen in the mix. I have bought two Tissots in the last year as I really like the Powermatic 80 movement, but am anxious to add a Seiko with the 6R35.
Seiko 5 Blueberry GMT Divers, I absolutely adore wearing it, Certainly Seiko's are a total bargain for the enjoyment they deliver.
Bought a GS last week and was blown away by the finish, videos and pictures does not do it justice. Ordinary Seiko sometimes have misaligned dials, which is annoying when you buy online.
I managed to get a new speed-timer for £395 in a sale and I am very happy with it!
Alpinist, ✔️ Speedtimer, ✔️ And I have been thinking an SKX013 (because I have a small wrist) rounds my 3 watch Seiko collection off with a proper classic diver.
This is far more enjoyable than the new style. Feels like home.
Let's just say, speaking as the archetypal Seiko fanboy, that while my choices *might* differ just a tad over yours (not into the "reimagined" Speedtimer…which is fine, since I already own a nice example of the OG), everything else you've shown here is fairly drool-inducing, particularly the Laurel "variations." Only watches seriously on my to-buy radar now are the 5 GMT (probably the "Batman") and the Cocktail Time w/power-reserve comp, but need to decide between all-silver & steel or with a bit of gold. Nice entry here, guys!
No prospex spring drive?
I’ll have them all. In love with Seiko from 150 Aussie dollars to infinity 😮
There once was a time when I would purchase every Seiko that I liked. I was obsessed. I still am but have slimmed down the collection drastically to buy a DJ. But think of all the Willard's and 5's I could purchase instead...
I lost track of who picked what after the Alpinist reissue and just sank into the love for those Seiko dials….mmm….
Seiko's value proposition is almost impossible to beat.
You guys did Seiko dirty on the Speedtimer - the SSC913 does attempt to mimic the 60s watch
Both Seiko collections suggested are good. Comes down to which appeals - Andrew's which is really a watch nerd's choice while Tom's is a more mainstream selection. As for the next watch brand to cover, please go for less heralded relatively affordable brands that have a wide variety of watch types and collections, like Bulova/Accutron, Certina, and Mido, to name but a few.
‘Hakuji’ Arita Wow wow wow!
I have figured it out on Seiko. It is not the watch case or dial that determines the level of the watch but the movement. In the early days of the twentieth century. People upgraded their Pocket watch by replacing the case or movement. If they had a gold plated case they would upgrade to a solid gold case. Or if they liked their case they would up grade the movement. If you upgraded a Seiko présage of which many are beautiful , and but a top grand Seiko movement, for all purposes you would have a Grand Seiko. If you put a Grand Seiko movement into a Green Alpinist, you would have a Rolex killer. So Seiko works hard to Prevent people upgrading their watch!
Can you do the perfect single watch brand collection for Patek Philippe, AP, Rolex and Vacheron Constantin
I am really impressed that you manage to put only 1 Seiko diver in this list. Make it hard to say anything about the alignment issue. And the last King Seiko, damn is good. *Chefkiss
My first two watches are Tissot PRS sports watch Tissot PRX dress watch So looks like I'm onto something..
Companies with the best line ups (Pilot's, Chrono, Dress, Field) Seiko, Omega, Rolex and probably Citizen and Patek. Zenith has t the three but no diver. IWC has no field watch. Vacheron I don't think they have a pilot's. Omega just passes because they have a pilot's and the moons watch can also be considered a pilots I guess?
My Seiko journey from 2020 (so far) Snzf15 Snk809 Srpd63k1 Srph11k1 Sbdy109 Ssc813 Srpb41 Eyeing the gmt blue berry ssk001 next And Sbga211g for my end game. Like in 10 years lol

OK seriously, what is it with watchmakers not being able to put the correct Roman Numeral 4 on their dials?
@dustycups
Жыл бұрын
There's a few over imaginative historical reasons often bandied about but the most likely explanation is for symmetrical balance and creating a dial with three distinct areas. First third of the dial is composed of only I's, the second third is the only one using V's, last third is the only one using X. Also IIII counterbalances the opposite VIII in the same way that IX counterbalances III.
Watching this while having a beer and the original 6139-6002 on my wrist (bought new by my grandfather in 1967 and I had it restored last year) and the SSC813 in the watchbox a couple of meters away is making my undercarriage tingle, if you know what I mean. BTW guys, can we put some pressure on Seiko to release an old school sunny orange dial with Pepsi bezel version of the new SSC91*? I have a deal with my wife that if such a watch is released I am buying it no matter what and it doesn't count in my annual watch purchasing limit. Help a brother, guys!

A Pogue re-issue would break the internet. It's a tough play for Seiko, because how do you release it? As a $2,500 Seiko? As a $800 solar chrono? As a $300 Seiko 5?
Do a Tissot or one of the other cheaper Swatch brands collection next! I think can offer better value than Seiko.
JLC list please and Sinn
Jobs' Seiko is the best Seiko. Pure LSD. Other Seikos from the 80s were also full of hope and vision, real art
To be fair the quality for cost variable (0:47) has gone down as Seiko has increased their prices significantly. That said where Seiko still excels is with style and dial designs.
Most of the watches in my collection are Seikos. Intentional or not, I just gravitate towards that brand. They offer such a diverse range at different price points. There are only 3 brands that I have that mix up my collection and that's Christopher Ward, Zelos and Citizen. Is there a limit to how many Seiko's you can have in a watch collection?...yeah maybe. Will it stop me from buying another?...Hell no.
Tom's was better.... However you got me there with the King Seiko, especially in that leather strap
Well, damn, now I want that first watch. Thanks Tom 😑
