I'm just getting back into saltwater fly fishing after many years , so I've been searching different sites trying to find fly patterns that I think would be an asset to my fly box . And this one just made the grade , with so many people showing their patterns and fisherman making fly's it would be nice to see them tie their fly and then go to the water and prove it catches fish , I'm going to be using this one and see what's biting .👍🏼 Nice job !

Awesome fly tying videos! This summer, we are heading to Marco Island, FL(small island on the gulf side of FL in case you aren't familiar). Naturally, I am bringing a fly rod along and there looks to be some great places to fish nearby according to google maps. Anyway, I don't have much in the way of fly tying materials for saltwater. I am a little overwhelmed by all the body materials, should I go with the Forgotten Coast Fly Company fibers, or EP fibers? Am hoping to tie up some baitfish, crab, and shrimp patterns to tempt some snook and maybe tarpon but don't really know what materials to buy. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

I would go with the Forgotten Coast fibers as they are super easy to use and a little goes a very long way. This pinfish fly would work on everything down there and so would flies like the Ghost Rat Tarpon fly, I have a video on that one. As well as the Popping Flats Shrimp and Big Bastard Baitfish.

How much space do you leave between the clumps of fibers when you tie them in? Love the channel!!

Not much at all. Just enough to get the fibers to fill out the profile.

Appreciate it, believe this could be used for a mullet pattern as well with some gray/black in a larger pattern for roosters. Will try this summer! Great job - keep the vids coming!!

I think so as well. I do it in Chartreuse over white with dark green stripes and have caught plenty of snook and baby tarpon with it.

Are you using the same two clumps of fiber you cut at the beginning of the video for the whole fly?
