No Wind? Try Koenders Solar Aeration System DC 200!
Koenders Solar Aeration System is an energy-efficient, cost-effective option for introducing oxygen into ponds where electric or windmill aeration is not a possibility. A solar aerator is ideal for remote locations where there are no electrical hook-ups available, or for the environmentally-conscious consumer who is looking for ways to minimize their ecological footprint and their monthly energy bills. This custom-designed unit offers the highest price/performance and reliability in its category.
The DC 200 system is designed to be most effective in water depths of up to 12 feet.
Bottom-Up Aeration
By pumping a consistent flow of oxygen through the water body Koenders Solar Aeration Systems promote healthy aerobic activity for fish and pond life. The bottom-up oxygenation (aeration) process also provides a source of oxygen that fuels Nature’s Pond Conditioner’s enzymes and bacteria which helps it consume excess nutrients, fish droppings, fertilizers, leaves and other organic matter that builds up as pond sludge which increases unwanted nutrient levels in the water body.
Reduces algae blooms and their frequency and deters weed growth
Eliminates pond odors by venting off harmful gases
Reduces fish kill by dissolving increased levels of oxygen in the water when the fish need it most
Enhances the benefits of Nature’s Pond Conditioner

To keep the crane off of your pond, buy a crane decoy from your distributor and move it around the pond every few days. Cranes are lone critters, they generally will not inhabit a small pond where another crane already exists. Best of luck...

Great idea putting the air-stone in the bucket. That will keep it clean and will work efficiently for much longer than if just dropped in. Also avoids churning the silt up. Really clever.

A couple of things to add isomewhat leaves from a river that contain healthy bacteria that will eat fish poop and also if you put a sponge filter around The outside And drill holes in the side of the bucket. That would help filter the water. Also if you put a 90゚ angle pipe above the bucket with a lid it will add waterfly in a certain direction of your choice... Maybe also think about live plants in buckets that will keep the ammonia nitrates Down I don't know how much water flow is going in-and-out of your system. Maybe put some type of insulation on the inside of that pump house to lower the noise or build a structure around it. Excellent video keep up the great work stay warm

airatores don't add O2 to water. it agitates the water surface for the nitrogen exchange to happen. really a pond that large you would not really need an bubbler. the wind would agitate the water service enough for O2 to get deposited. an since its so deep and the water volume now is so massive it should be fine.

Hey Chris and Kevin! I have a suggestion for you guys! Thanks for the awesome video updates as usual… For the pump box underneath the solar panel, as well as tons of other things around the property, you should consider stone! Allow me to elaborate… My father and his father and I have been stone masons for years, and unlike lumber, stone will literally last until the end of time! Securing precious items like the pump box and other things is vital dude! Mixing cement and grabbing some stone slabs, building a fortified box to keep those things up off the ground is important! Plus it’ll fit the natural look. Something to keep in mind! Stone! Stone! Stone!

I think you got this time... 3 ways to get air in the water AND a waterfall. That is 4 ways to get air in the water. Way cleaner this time, super cold all year... the colder the water the more oxygen it can hold. If your waterfall is big enough you won't even need the pumps. Well done.

If you find that you aren't getting enough sun because of shade, maybe you could move the panels up onto your windmill tower. This is probably obvious to you, but a LiFePO4 battery between the panels and the pump could keep the pump running at night for you and there are techniques for using batteries to extend the run time for your solar generator, in a pinch. Having a battery and a cheap inverter down there could even let you power some tools or lights should you need them.

If you wanted to scuba dive with that pump, and I and everyone else out here totally think you should, and film it, all you would need is a bucket ( or a big fish bowl ) that will go over your head. Stick the hose under and up into said bucket, with your head. At that point, as long as the pressure in the air hose can push against the water in the bucket and push it out, you should be able to breathe. Sounds like 12 feet may be your limit though, based on the depth limit the pump maker listed. I think they call this type of underwater device a diving bell. We double dog dare ya to try it! LOL

It's like a very low sound. You wouldn't notice if there was any amount of wind. At first, I wasn't sure, but honestly not bothersome at all. You could also easily deaden or eliminate the sound by building something around it, but we haven't been motivated to do that, even though we talked about it since it's not that much of an issue.

Would it be beneficial to put those solar panels on a flagpole or something of the sort to get them higher in the air so the trees don't block the sun so much? Just an idea and I'm sure you guys could make it work or even screwing or strapping it to the top of a good strong tree to get the most out of the sun! Just throwing it out there for an idea.

The thought is that the cool water which trout like, is moved to the top so the fish don't have a refuge. But bottom up aeration is more ideal for cold water species which spend more time at the bottom, versus say a waterfall or sprinkler type aeration, so obviously you need to design how your situation works. Of course, we could put the aerator in the shallow end too, but this pond never got too warm, so should be alright.
