Bro this is dope. I was one of those people who tried arma, had fun but no community other than people wanting me to join their regiment and discord just to text all day and not really run missions or branch out into everything else the game has to offer. Haven’t played Arma 3 in years. Steam showed me “Reforged” I KZread’d it on a whim and your video was the first one I clicked. I’m 6 minutes in and went and bought the game. Thank you so much for doing this, I’ll watch the entire thing but I can already tell this is going to be so fun. I miss arma so much but the community online became kind of difficult to deal with. Sometimes I just want to play alone or not with gate-keeping vets of the game online. Thanks for making this bro

Overthrow is also a mod for ArmA 3 and that's what this is based on. Antistasi is a similar idea but completely different game mechanics. These 2 are my favorite way to play ArmA. Overthrow Reforger is coming along nicely. Nice video

I think on Xbox you’ll have to join someone else’s server. They don’t yet have save available for console players but I did hear it’s in the works!

Just a heads up, if you apply a noise gate in OBS or whatever capture software you're using, you can silence out those keyboard clicks for the most part, along with the noise floor of the mic. Renegate is a good free one and really easy to setup with the visual ui of the gate / audio. I know mechanical keyboards are a nightmare for this but a gate will cut out a lot of the clicks. Another edit, I'm commenting right before you say things I need to stop haha. The best keyboard I found going from mechanical to soft touch was roccat horde aimo. Also took the matching mouse too, it has what they call membranical keys, it's kind of a cross between mechanical and membrane, and honestly it's probably the best keyboard I've owned for many reasons

I use noise gate for the background noise and it works really great. I haven’t tried it with the keyboard yet. Problem was that I was always talking while clicking so I couldn’t capture a profile to apply the gate. Next time I’ll type first before I start the video so I can use that section to acquire the noise gate profile

Don’t be afraid to ask for help! It can be overwhelming but it gets easy once you learn

I've been playing these since Operation Flashpoint. I work with Infogrames when it came out and got a free copy. (I think Infogrames owned Codemasters who published it). I've played each one since. Even got an early import of Armed Assault (non english copy) it took a while to get to the other countries. I've been holding off on this one for some reason, but watching this, I'll think I'll get it! Thanks man, great video.

To be fair after dabbling in Overthrow offline and online in the past week, jumping in to full 100 player squad based radio communication mode seems scary :D And I've played Arma 3 base game and Reforger tutorials. Thanks for figuring out the sell aspect that comes in handy. Also I have no idea how to cap radio towers (they hinder support from towns). I've cleared couple radio towers from opposition and hanged around for a while but they still stay red.

Hmmm the last thing I did in my save file was get killed trying to take a tower so I haven’t got that far. But if it’s anything like arma 3’s antistasi, maybe buying some explosive charges from the gun dealer would do the trick to take it down

Hey man. I’m sure that other people have suggested it, but check out the mechanical keyboard hobby. You can actually get silent tactile switches that feel as good as that does, probably even better. Full RGB and all the features you would love in a keyboard. Also it’s a lot cheaper than you would think to just pick the kit, switches and keycaps and build it yourself too! If you need help suggestions or guidance, feel free to ask! Great video by the way, this inspired me to pick up Reforger 😊

I appreciate the suggestion! I’m also very glad this video has given you inspiration. However I did end up picking up a cheap full rgb membrane keyboard for the sake of videos. I’ll have to put the mechanical keyboard in the racing sim when I start using it again because it feels so dang nice to type on

@@voiddistortion7937 haha that’s awesome. We like to keep it pretty relaxed too. Our motto is realistic without being gruelling. So we implement some realistic settings as long as it doesn’t make the server gruelling.

When I get my gaming PC this year, this is definitely the kind of game that I want to stream on here. Thanks for the video and I hope I can retain some of this when I get the game!

Before you buy a new keyboard, you could try setting up a noise gate on your mic and see if that helps with the keyboard noise.

I do a noise gate for the ambient sound of the fan on my wood stove. I haven’t been able to isolate my keys with that yet because I’m always talking while the keys are clicking so haven’t been able to create a noise profile. But maybe before I start talking I should click a bunch of keys to allow me to try and get the profile

Arma 3 is a little easier to optimize without shafting the quality. But that’s because arma 3 is a 11 year old game. Without screen recording my sessions, I can get 45+ frames on either game pretty easily with my intel i5 8600k with a GTX 1060

For me only the gun shops are working, no other shops show and any i go into and access the till/open the shop only sell 1 item. A pistol. Thats it.Kinda bugged.

Absolutely

Reforger is just a test bed for the game engine and Arma 4 components, it as BI has said it was never meant to be a main game, that is Arma 3 & 4's job. And once Arma 4 is up and available BI will simply shut down the Reforger server and support ect, as everyone will be playing Arma 4.

Can you add mods ontop overthrow or is it all just cold war gear?

You can add some mods. For instance there is a mod called something like RHS - Overthrow Edition

I just got this after lurking for 2 years... big ARMA 3 player... anyway I've got an old 1080 video card and get a solid 50+ FPS on all setting at MAX HIGH. But, here's what else I have... an i9 processor, 128GB RAM and an SSD drive. I wonder if the game is more RAM and Processor heavy than it is video GPU.

You’re probably right but I do know the gpu plays a roll. Before I got a new processor I had just went from a 1060 to a 3070ti and it doubled my frames

@@ylsgaming My buddy has a 3060 and he gets pretty decent FPS but only has an i& processor and 64GB of RAM. There's definitely a balance there, but I'm not playing anyone online so the FPS for me right now is decent and I can't justify the price of a new GPU. Maybe next year. ;)

It can be tough to get on your feet in the arma franchise. Honestly Arma 3 is a much better game and we offer help to beginners on the discord server. Feel free to come check it out

Is reforger fully out yet? I was holding off until Arma 4. I loved arma 3 but wasn't sure if reforger was just a slimmed down segway release until 4 comes out. On the fence, but tbh I haven't actually seen too much reforger gameplay. Edit.. I commented too early about release 🤣

Haha so you already know the answer that it has in fact released version 1.0. But let me share with what you won’t find on the internet. Last night, my admin team on the discord server all downloaded arma reforger to try because we had toyed with the idea of running a reforger dedicated server. We went onto a modern war public server and let me tell you we had so much fun. It was a PVE server but we played for hours having a great time. By the end of that session we are happy to say we will be adding arma reforger dedicated server to run along side our arma 3 dedicated. i just bought this game thanks to this video. However, my map doesn't seem to have any shop icons on it, and I tried going to the same building the shop was in your playthrough and it was empty. Any idea what might be wrong? edit: nevermind, when I restarted the game again it appeared. Strange that it didn't the first time I did.

with audacity you can postprod your sound buddy, clean it on the frequency of the typing ^^ your voice wont be affected

I have never played this game, but I will eventually get it. I've played the series from Flashpoint to Arma 3 and have a combined total of a little under 9k hours (not including DayZ and DayZ SA), most of which is in multiplayer realistic military servers. I say this because I found that in my experience if you ask people when playing multiplayer, most will help you even in pub servers (provided they aren't in the middle of something of coarse). One of the best things with Arma isn't the game, it is the players and the community. By that I mean everyone from server admins to mod'ers will help new players/admins/mod'ers. The hardest thing with any simulation game is the mechanics and especially the key-binds, both of these things are hard to learn by yourself, because you don't know what you don't know and a lot of key binds aren't even set up for example. Obviously talking about the older games, but things like placing a personal 3D marker on the map to find where you are or fire modes on weapons platforms is a big one, or changing ADS views on the same scope etc. That is why players tend to help new players, because we've all been there. They love the franchise and want it to continue, without new players games die very quickly. So it is a win/win situation for experienced players as they get to play with more people and the game doesn't die. For me the best tips I can give; 1. talk to people in game (communication is key) 2. listen and clarify if needed, better to do that than not know what to do in a contact 3. Set up and learn the key binds and what they do. Other than that and in my opinion, it is one of the easiest to get into simulation game franchises on the market, that happens to also be extremely deep. There's a lot to learn but Arma has a lot to give, but most important of all; have fun o7

I'm pretty sure reforger is a tech showcase ahead of arma 4 and will never go much further beyond what it is.

It is a tech showcase, but they only JUST released the full version so there will still be updates. But also the modding community is a never ending growth who will carry us all the way to arma 4

Yes it works with RHS at least. You need RHS for Overthrow mod also. That gives you extra factions. Personally I don't have any other gear mods but I hear those should appear in the shops if you have those (though what would the price be on the items?).

There was a bug that prevented shops from showing up. Last update fixed some of the issues.

have a question - how do you restart this mod from 0. I have no guns and no car - assassination mission was bugged with invisible enemies and the car despawned by the time i ran back to the house. got shot again by invisible enemies. Deleted the mod and redownloaded it - gets me back to the same point. So if anybody know how to restart it from beginning?

It’s somewhere in your documents. I did it once but I can’t remember where it is. It took me a while to find it. But once I did I just deleted the save file and it restarted for me

It’s actually not better than antistasi. They’re onto something with this game mode but so far Reforger doesn’t beat Arma 3. I’m not sure it ever will but I’m thankful they are using Reforger as the Arma 4 test platform because give me the Reforger engine with arma 3 and it will dominate the sandbox military simulator genre

@@ylsgaming Since I have arma 3 I set up an antistasi ultimate server on that and tried it out lastnight, man i need to remember how to play operation flashpoint games lol. I was debating getting Reforger in the sale, the grass is always rendered greener in the newer engine (think thats how that phrase goes) but may just stick with arma 3 (i have most of the dlc after all, missing some of the content creator stuff....but it hurts to pay for what should technically be free. I couldnt figure out why the RHS faction stuff is not showing up though, i need to look at that more.

You should join my discord community. We host a 24/7 antustasi ultimate server and we have worked day in and day out to have the right mods and make sure the community can enjoy each map we liberate. The server is populated everyday and people within the community are very happy to help. We even have players that have never played arma before joining the discord and now they are true assets to the team. Link to join is in the description of this video

This mod is def fun, but i went on foot and started casuing havoc by stealing arms and whacking the occupying force lol

I beg for you to venture past darkgru. They have some nice mods but they are strict and play it too seriously sometimes. Play the vietnam servers or official arland. Official arland is what i play. Its a small island map that is like perfecty designed, easy to navigate and easy to setup ambushes as the enemies come out of the same places every game. If you ever hop on again join a NY arland server, go soviet and try it out. But NEVER play new servers on arma as the US team, all the vets go soviet.

@@jakefox7513 shoot I joined DarkGru because it was the first server I saw that wasn’t Roleplay. I play on console so a lot of times the menus are buggy. I’ll have to undownload everything but I’ll give those servers a try

It might be hard to find but there is a save file somewhere in one of your arma reforger folders.

Man i was having a lot of fun playing this until i crashed my truck and now it hardly drives, how can i repair it? It says i need supplies

I tried to mod it's really fun but I want to restart from the beginning every time press the restart button it just restart from where I was how to do that I want to start from the beginning I want to choose another faction invading

There is a way to delete the save file but it’s hidden somewhere in your documents I think. I think it’s in a folder somewhere called “my games”

is this obsolete since combat ops released?

Is this mod still working for Steam/Solo? I downloaded it today and it had 3 dependent mods but when I launch the game via scenarios it fails out with a cant compile game script module error. Any else been able to fix this?

I appreciate your feedback! It may actually force you to download a couple dependencies but the point of the video is you could download the game mode and be able to launch a game by following the prompts on screen. Just a way to simplify getting the mods needed to play overthrow

Couldnt wait to play. Got Overthrow: Everon and 3 dependencies all updated. Stuck at start in main bedroom. "F" does not appear to unlock the door and I am stuck lol Update: Have tried to start a fresh game and have deleted save files but still cannot start afresh. Anyways joined another group's server and it works fine.

@@aussiecoffeebean I can’t remember how I did it but I know it took several tries. I had to delete the arma reforger save files somewhere in my directory. I think it was under steamapps

We had one on our discord but our focus is elsewhere in terms of dedicated servers but if more Reforger players keep joining my discord, we may spin up another server in the future

Use RTX voice if you have a Nvidia card to remove keyboard sounds

I have reforger for my xbox series s and honestly its been nothing but problems ,i have not been able to successfully been able to even create a simple scenario on game master mods are constantly crashing out of nowheres stop working mid stride and i am so sick to my stomach about it bohemia has once again sht on console players and im so tired of it arma 4 comes out i say to them keep it thanks anyways ill stick with ghost recon and far cry titles and medal gear solid as well MOH 2010 and warfighter and OFP dragon rising and red river for my ps3 thats as good as its going to get for modern era combat on consoles 😅 but I AM VERY VERT THANKFUL INDEED to beable to still play those campaigns absolutely greatful for those 4 ps3 titles

I’m sorry to hear it’s not working well for you. You could try joining my discord server and joining our 24/7 dedicated overthrow server. That way you’re not relying on your Xbox to host the mods and scripts of the mods, you’ll just be playing on our dedicated server

What are the FPS like in Reforger? Normally ARMA games have crap FPS.

My map doesn’t have all the symbols on it…gun store etc…😢

I have the same problem no store or truck shop and the gun shop only shows after I use the restart button in the esc menu. And a second problem is my car always get despawned when I leave it behind and need some time to do what I do, as example capture a base.

Fuck playing to learn, I want to play this mod for fun!!
