Key word....purchase. The scent killing rubber tote boxes for $299.99 at Cabela's was it for me. Good talk!

Hallelujah someone else gets it. I grew up with mentors who subsistence hunted and never used all that crap, so i never bought into it.

100% agree . I’ve got Benelli shotguns that cost a few thousand and my go to gun is a £90 A5 Browning . I can run birdshot , buckshot or slugs through it and it never fails

Yep! The muzzleloader I shot this buck with cost as much as my first name brand hunting jacket. I don’t even wear anything with brands/camo on them anymore. I have been MUCH happier through divorcing myself from the hunting industrial complex lol. I’ve been putting this video off for a while, but if it helps new hunters keep some money in their pockets to put it where it counts, that’s what I’m going to do!

Yep. I have a Kimber Mountain Accent that was outrageously expensive and I still prefer my $200 clearance 30-06

@@Majormusket my first hunting rifle was a Sako 82M deluxe with custom built English walnut stock by Mike Dickenson in 30/06 with a Leica scope and moderator , about £12k . Beautiful rifle and once I’d got my loads right would cloverleaf at 100yds . Then again so would my Bergara with plastic stock-in .308 Winchester and Leopold scope at a cost of just under £1k . I have neither now and I use a Lee Enfield in .303 British . Cheap and does the job . I used to shoot clays and the guys there would look down their noses if you hadn’t got a Beretta or Browning shotgun and wearing branded shooting vest and cap . I took a £45 Essex side x side once and shot a 94 with it . Got some funny looks though . I shoot pretty much on my own now and I enjoy it much better than poncing about with the in crowd . Whatever makes you happy is what I say 👍

Generations of hunters have worn jeans and red plaid shirts and probably stunk of tobacco and beer .... didn't stop them from bringing home the venison. Congratulations on the Buck.

Truer words never spoken. I used to be all decked out in top of the line camo with all kinds of scents, scent blockers, and calls. Gave up on that when I read a book that quoted Fresh Bear as saying "the best camouflage is sit down and shut up" or something to that tune. The man killed more game than most hunters alive with traditional archery equipment while wearing a red plaid wool jacket...

You gotta love it! It’s amazing how in a short amount of time since Fred Bear, all of this “stuff” has come about. It shows you the power of manipulation through sales tactics. What makes me truly sad is reaching to point where I was at the end of my rope. I wanted to throw in the towel. I didn’t enjoy it anymore. I wonder how many people feel, or have felt this same way.

Oh I know… then you start to realize that 98% of professional hunters live in the Midwest and have purchased lands and food plot cycles and you’re wondering why you can’t even see a doe lmao! You hit the mail on the head… cheated. By the time you wake up, they already have all your money. It’s starting to sound familiar 🤔

Don't you need the latest night vision, suppressed, 7-way adjustable optic, high-BC bonded partition ballistic tipped bullet, 9000 FPS flat-shooting cartridge, carbon wrapped barrel, titanium action self-loading ultra-light rifle, carried to the GPS enabled, heated-seat, cell-networked infrared game camera tree stand in your F450 Mega cab Powerstroke diesel 1000 ft-lb torque dually pulling a sleeping quarters horse trailer with satellite TV and internet, driving to a fenced-in acres with a professional outfitter lodge and guided hunters, so you can get your trophy buck? But don't forget to take your long-range portable radio and cell phone into the woods, with some beef jerky snacks for when you get hungry. You'll need a Spot Tracker GPS devices just for safety unless you should get separated from the outfitter. Also pack some emergency NASA space blankets in case a storm might come up and you get stranded in the woods. Don't forget plenty of water. Chew a few sticks of breath gum before you get to the woods to make sure your scent signature is ultra low. 😆

If these products do now work, then please explain to me how these guys can climb a tree, see deer within minutes, only to have to choose which wall hanger to shoot all in thirty minutes. 😂😂😂. Keep keeping it real brother!!!!!

It sure feels great when you come to this realization. Hopefully you don't spend too much time in remorse or resentment. I felt like an idiot after years(almost 69 now) when I woke up to the fact you couldn't trust a lot of what was printed in gun magazines. The worst advise back then was always about black powder.

  • @Majormusket

There is a lot of inaccurate information on black powder. It’s not as complicated as everyone makes it out to be. I think a lot of people get scared away who might be interested.
