Smart Objects are so useful for things like this!

Yea their great and probably could be used a lot more in any editing workflow.
Worked, thx
Good vid Matt. I already had an orton action I created a few years ago (plus actions for blur or levels only) but I'd not thought of going the smart objects route. That's a much better way of doing it, thank you.

Thanks... yea it just allows you to go back in and do any changes without have to start from the beginning again.
Great Tutorial. I love working with Smart Filters & Masks. Makes a seamless workflow without being destructive. Lastly, I cant forget the Camera Raw Filter for Color Corrections for post editing!

Thanks… yes smart filters are the way to go if you can remember to use them lol. Yea the camera raw filter is a nice way to do the orton effect and control what you want.
Thank you for making a video explaining all the essentials of tNice tutorials software. You really helped understand the software more, thank you

softING AROUND THE BUSH
I always convert the duplicate layer to a smart object so I can go in and tweak ad refine the blur amount if needed.

Yes that is an ideal process to do for fine tuning the effect if you want control later.
Great Video - have you tried method 3 with Blendif to remove the shadows by feathering the darks so that you are only working on the highlights>?

No I havent tried that but it would certainly be method you can add to refine the blend. With photoshop there are so many ways to do things. Thanks for the comment... people reading it may want to give this a go as it sounds like a very good step. Will keep it in mind myself.
