I LOVE this abstract fine art photo technique! (Easy Photoshop tutorial)
In this week's video I show a Photoshop technique that lets you create dreamy, blurred landscape images that blend in static figures for a minimalist, abstract scene, similar to the ICM (intentional camera movement) technique. It's a bit different from my normal work, but it's a fun and straight forward way to create a totally different look from an otherwise fairly plain image.

Just a heads up - rather than Ctrl+C/V, when you have a selection, just hit Ctrl+J to duplicate the selection to a new layer 😊

Wow! This is wonderful way to edit some boring seascapes that I have and make them look amazing. Thanks for sharing the great PS techniques. Thank you!!
Great video! Your close-up work is great but, I also really love the way you pass on creative ideas to try like this. These help keep me busy during the short Winter days when light is limited. Keep it up and thanks Andrew!
the creative outcome on these shots looks pretty sweet!! great tutorial 💪🏼💪🏼 many thanks 🙏🏼
I have been coming up with ways to abstract landscapes and I am very thrilled to find this video. Thank you.
Very many thanks, Andrew, for sharing your expertise.NOT too many U-tubers do this. Certainly improves my level of adequacy.
Excellent ! Definitely something I will try as soon as I can.
Wow, love it! And love that you gave the other photographer credit.
Superb !! Since so long I was wondering how people create such effect and nobody was ready to tell me with honesty. Thanks Andrew 😊🙏

I saw this video last night, I tried it this morning and it worked a treat. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you so much for this tutorial.... I mastered the technique in thirty minutes and yet I'm still figuring out photoshop itself and my God the result was awesome
Hey man, first time I watch one of your videos. I think it's awesome you share your inspirations and give them credits, not something I see much in the photography/video world. Also great tutorial, I think I will try it at some point! Best of luck with your channel, great content.
Another great tutorial -- Thank you! I'm definitely going to add this to my toolbox and try it when I find appropriate base images.

Good luck, Warrick! Keep the idea in mind when you next go out with your camera as it might be easier to try and shoot images specifically to try and do this edit.
This technique has been added to my must try very soon list. Thanks!!
Thank you for an interesting technique, I've given it a try without figures and the results are, for me, really good. Going to try with people in the photo next time. Thank you again.
Excellent! Thank you for showing us how to do this.
Love this! I have LOTS of shoreline photos I can try this on.
Fantastic! Thank you. The final images are wonderful!
I'm relatively new, at it for a couple of years but only as time allows, and have been learning by trial, error and KZread. This not only gives me a new "toy" to play with but has also inspired me to perhaps search out scenes specifically for using this. Thank you for the video!

Thanks Craig! It's definitely a fun way of trying to add some magic into shots that otherwise might be forgotten. I plan to go through my catalogue over the years and see if there are more that I can try this with! Good luck with yours and please feel free to share the results!
Definitely worth playing a bit with this!
Thanks for sharing this technique, it’s greatly expanded my options in processing my images in a non traditional way.

That was a creative and well executed technique you shown. Liked the way you experimented with the tools and subject matter. Didn't know about the blur gallery, probably not included in Photoshop CS5. Thank you Andrew.
This is a great reference tutorial that is excellently delivered. Using the effect on some images from the beach at Weston-Super-Mare.
Got prompted to watch this video just before a short family trip to Northumberland. Timely as the long sandy quiet beaches are perfect for this. Tricksy techniques are not my style but this is fun, thankyou
Great tutorial for this amazing effect! Thanks.
Will definitely be adding this to my skillset! Amazing video!
What an awesome video. I love the end product for all 3 examples. Very nice.

Excellent inspiration. Thanks
All too often I take shot thinking this will be good until I see it on the computer & then I’m disappointed. This will help me make more of the shots I take. Thanks.
Excellent.. Thank you
Many thanks Andrew. I really enjoyed this. Excellent idea, great presentation and a real education for me as I have not used these blur tools.

Hello Andrew, just wanted to say I've only just recently found your channel and absolutely love it. Starting watching for you macro content as I want to learn more and have done. But I tried this last night on a picture I had in mind and it worked brilliantly something I will definitely consider again when out in the field. Nice one, keep up the great work 👍

Hi Andrew I like to class myself as a purist when it comes to photography. If the sky isn't good in an image I won't replace it, I'll just go back another day and hopefully get a better sky. I really don't like composite images and it's not something that I want to try but this technique I found very interesting. I definitely want to try it on some of my images that look suitable. As you said it's not something that I'd do regularly but now again when an image suits it's worth trying it
Great tutorial! Thanks!
Perfect and i also like the way you behave in the front of the camera. Good job.
Very interesting technique. Definitely one to try so thanks for putting that together.

Thanks Andrew! I've been wondering for a while how these types of images were made.
I just came across this video google must have been listening because I was checking out someone else's work that did something similar and was wondering how it was done. I was going to start playing around on Photoshop but now I have a better idea. Great explanation. Checked out Thomas' work love it.
