I've emailed Austin countless times. The way he explains things and in a timely manner. He's a total gentleman and passionate about XPlane!

This! This is why I am a X-Plane over MSFS. I noticed an issue as I was using X-Plane in the classroom with lead-lag or Accelerate North/Decelerate South Compass error in one of the versions X-Plane (don’t remember which issue it was or version of XP). Austin was at Oshkosh that year and I started talking to him and mentioned the issue I seen. He opened up the code right there, and found the issue. His comment… “it’ll be updated very soon!” Where else can you talk with someone and get an answer like that? This was the same year that MS FSX came out, and they had a huge booth for OSH that year. They gave us no time of day. Again, where else can you get this kind of care in this day?

@Frank59459 If you have a version of X-plane and when it loads up, it'll say something along the lines of reporting violations. And report them to Xxxxx.

Started with a joystick and old Pentium 4 pc on x-plane 7 in 2008, x-olane not only flying simulator, x-plane is very atmospheric game for me

Imagine I've started with the 5 version of X Plane !!! Sure, the graphics were limited at the time. But, this simulation gave me so many hours of pleasure. Plane Maker was also a surprise. It was possible to change so easily some caracteristics of the planes. The evolution of X Plane, if I considere my first contact with, is spectacular. I've to take a hard decision. Or I stay on the 11 version, with many graphics limitations, due to my old MacPro graphic card, or I haves to broke my bank account to buy a decent computer to run the 12 version. It's to say how X Plane take a so great part of my life !!

Austin is obviously a genius, I think most of us realise that. He makes it all sound so simple, but to most of us back then, we wouldn't of had a clue how to code for pong, let alone a new flight simulator, which is now arguably the most accurate flight simulator available to the public today. Its people like Austin Meyer that make this world a better place for all of us. Keep up the great work Austin!

I own msfs and xplane 12. I enjoy them both, but there is something about xplane that is so cool. Can't put my finger on it. It is almost mystical. Forget the fancy scenery (that you don't really bother with, or notice when flying a real aircraft) and you have a product that is so bloody realistic. I bought xplane 4 back in 1998. I still have it, Boxed, CD.

You mirrored my feelings, spot on. I got into flight ✈️ simulators, around 2016 and actually got FSX- Steam edition and X-Plane 11 at the same time, but never really looked at X-Plane until 2020, when I purchased MSFS2020. Upon downloading the Zibo mod 737, I decided to watch a few KZread videos, and it definitely became my favourite. X-Plane 12 is on my wishlist on Steam, and it seems I will go for it. Yes, there is a surreal extra to the simulator, and the community is welcoming.

X-Plane was made by someone who loves and is passionate about planes and systems. He is not doing this to sell it to people like MSFS do, but to use it as a tool for pilots ! He cares a lot about the performance of the aircraft, unlike msfs, only "eye candish" graphics and unrealistic light. X-Plane 11/12 is the best flight simulator, without a doubt.

I tried MSFS way back in 99-00 when working on my PP. I thought it actually hurt my real world flying. 23 year later, while working on my flight review, I was hesitant to try a sim again. I read up on both sims and tried MSFS again but found it too resource intense (like everything MS develops). So I tried X11. My lower spec system is MUCH happier. Even more, I was truly amazed by the flight characteristics. I'm a low time pilot but the accuracy is truly stunning. Thank you for thinking outside the box and developing a truly realistic home sim.

I tried xplane12 and have found myself quiting msfs to fly in xplane. Xplane just works and delivers a unique experience. It dont feel like any other video game.

Met Austin at Oshkosh and even if it was for a minute I just loved his eminence. What amazing passion and work!

I’ve been using X-Plane since its inception. It is far and away the best flight simulator for GA Pilots. When I’m not flying my 1973 Piper P28R 200 (N55306), I’m flying X-Plane 12. Thank you Austin, for all that you and your Team do to keep X-Plane the leader in Home Flight Simulation. If you want a “Game”, use MSFS. If you’re a Pilot and want to practice Instrument Flying Procedures, use X-Plane!

I dont usually comment but Austins story is a great one, and he has created a fun product that is useful for learning a bit about flying. Great story Austin and congratulations on all this time building your own firm and a great product. It sounds like you have had a fun adventure !

Knowing how passionate and happy to share the knowledge the author is I'm glad I jumped on the X-Plane bandwagon back in the version 5 times and never looked back. I'm not saying there are no enthusiasts on the MSFS dev team but since there's no vivid personality behind it the enthusiasm of individuals gets diluted and the whole thing feels soulless.

I bought X-Plane way back in the early days, the mid to late 90's I am guessing? It was just called X-Plane on a grey CD. What was notable my friends, it was $200 or that's what I paid for it from one of Mac Warehouse resellers I believe. It ran on Mac OS 9 and It was worth every penny. I admired it and followed it ever since. I'm amazed how far it's come. If you ask me, Austin is the Jim Henson of the Flight Simulation Community and I love the man. Congratulations to Austin, and the X-Plane team. Fly on.

You can say MS2020 has the fancy graphics, But it has its issues and they are not small. X plane has better dynamics, even pro Pilots say this. As I cant see the ground for most of a flight it works for me. Good job.

Overall it's pretty good, I love xplane and it helped me learn and practice, but the wind/gusts/turbulence are not well implemented. It's especially obvious in the aerolite 103. I have to turn the winds up to like 30+ mph to get any effect, and it still doesn't feel right.

Im gonna tell you that in order to stay revalant you WILL have to upgrade your render engine. I can play amazing games with Unreal Engine on my laptop which is much less powerfull than my desktop. That would allow more people to buy x-plane and then you could hire more people to keep this going.

Umm there is a problem with the md 80 in X-Plane mobile can you please fix it the problem is way off speed indication so can you please fix it but the flight sim is amazing this not a important but could add a Boeing 757 or 767 also a there is a bug where when I push the plane nose down a bit the sink rate warning goes off for no reason and it is annoying so can you also fix that

Hey. There’s a glitch with the Boeing 747-400 in X-Plane 10 mobile. It won’t start. I go through the entire procedure as I should. I try every troubleshooting method I can think of. But the engines won’t turn over. They’ll rotate on the starter. Pumps are on apu is running and bleed air is isolated. But engine 4 won’t turn over. And I can’t get any of the engines to come on either. There’s been only a few updates lately and I understand priority is on the newer versions for pc. Like xplane 12 and 11. But please fix this glitch somehow. Also. Maybe add a few new jets. Like the 707 in pan am livery. Or maybe Douglas dc-8? 727. There’s tones to add and plenty of potential

gotta love all the time it takes to make a flight sim this good. I love planes so much because of this, and I really want to be a pilot! I just wish it was a bit cheaper, as my family can't afford it. Also, just to clear up conflict it is better than microsoft flight simulator :)
