    The sad part is that I actually like the concept of the story. A happy and cheery being given to a kid, but the being turns dark and twisted because the kid was so messed up, I think that is an interesting concept...such a shame that this story is so awful.

    It is a unique concept and would give a sympathetic look at the clown character, but the execution was awful. The killings and muders were necessary but they were focused on way too much and became gore porn.

    This story would've been infinitely more interesting if it was centred around Isaac's experiences in a fucked-up 1800's Boarding-school, slowly but surely transforming him from a shy, frail child to a merciless, psychopathic monster akin to Jack The Ripper; a real murderer that actually existed in the 1800's.

    _A case like this was actually real in Brazil. Raul Pompeia was a man who commited suicide in the Christmas of 1895, at age 32, because he was incredibly traumatized from his horrible boarding school experiences (Abusive staff, bullying, homicide, rape, etc)._

    I've got an idea for a creepypasta villain who isn't one of those "sympathize with my character uwu" villains: Daniel McCain. He is an unsympathetic, unreasonable, unkind sadist who has an obsession with brainwashing people and driving them insane, only letting them out so they can become serial killers. He has no reason, no motivation. He's just a sadistic psychopath. He DOES commit murders himself, but only if he has either failed to make someone crazy, or if he's just bored and needs to fill his inner sadist. The story is also told through the perspective of a friend of Daniel's, who doesn't know of his crimes until he looks in his house one night, seeing him brainwashing someone at the college they went to who went missing. I haven't fully fleshed out the story, but I'll work on it later.

    Here's how I would've wrote Origin of LJ. I wouldn't even call the story "The Origin of Laughing Jack". I would call it "Laughing Jack: The Opening Act" to sort of reference to how comedians have an opening act to their shows. I'd also make it NOT set in the damn 1800s! I'd set it in like the 50s or something. Laughing Jack wouldn't be a magic kinda imaginary friend, but a reflection of Isaac's inner evil, disguised as a friend. Not a sympathetic cinnamon roll, but a dark, soulless demon, slowly eating away at Isaac's "good" side and making HIM a crazy killer, not the other way around. Laughing Jack would also have more clown-like killing methods. For example, a squirting flower that shoots hydrochloric acid, cream pies filled with venomous spiders, and so on. At the end, Laughing Jack would say something like "You really don't get the joke, do you? The joke that you've been 'innocent' all this time? The punchline is, innocence only exists if we repress our evil. I have taken away most of your reasonable thoughts, leaving only a disheveled psychopath left", before killing Isaac. Honestly it's much darker and makes Laughing Jack a bit more scary in that he was always evil. Honestly, it works MUCH better than this shit.

    You know with a few changes this idea could have worked. 1. Have Isaac be a normal kid. Maybe on the poorer side but just a normal kid in desperate need of a friend, who when he grows up into a relatively well adjusted adult assumed LJ was just an imaginary friend. 2. Make it so that all that time alone in the box caused LJ to resent Isaac and children in general. Have the dark transformation take place of his own volition not as a result of Isaac. The more he begins to hate, the more dark and twisted thoughts begin to creep into his mind, the more his colors fade. 3. Have him act like the actual dark reflection of a clown he's supposed to be. The balloon animals out of intestines was a start but c'mon! There's so many possibilities here! You could give him a squirting flower that shoots mace instead of water, acid filled cream pies that he throws, have him tie Isaac to a spinning target and throw knives at him blindfolded, shoot him out of a canon, these are literally things I'm thinking of off the top of my head! Be creative!

    I don't know about you guys, but i think the concept of "an imaginary friend that acts friendly but they're actually evil and hurts kids and people" could have A LITTLE of potential to create an interesting thing. Like, imagine if he is just a Ghost that only kids can see and he convice them he is their friend, adults can't see him so they just assume he is just an imaginary friend. At first he is just friendly, playing with the kids and gaining their trust. Then, he would start to go EdGy and do some creepy things, like inciting children to hurt themselves or to put themselves into dangerous situations. He could even be like those creepy adults that manipulate children by saying things like "If you don't do this i will stop being your friend!" or "do you want candy? do what i say". So things go slowly escalating until the kids are basically slaves of their "friend" and THEN its when he kills people and does spooky things. I think this version could be a little more interesting, or could be just me, i have heard about many stories where kids have creepy imaginary friends like this but idk. But im not a writter, so i don't know if this is good anyway.

    You should watch the first Saw. There's not much gore (most of the worst stuff, like where a guy cuts off his own leg, and a woman has to cut a key out of a man's torso, happens offscreen) and it's more of a crime thriller. If anything, watch it for the stellar ending. The way it handles the final twists is monumentally iconic. It's not a perfect movie, but I think it truly deserves its spot in the horror hall of fame.

    Personally i think giving the character a backstory and attempting to raise the depth of laughing jack was a step in the right direction. Character's such as slender aren't interesting to me since the idea is that he is a blank slate devoid of any personality which I guess was the point but honestly it doesn't take talent for a writer to rely on the audience to make up the story for them, and it's just isn't interesting to me for the laughing jack character to fall into the "creepypasta character with no backstory that has no personality." Catogory. I think that trope has wore out it's welcome and is a lazy way of storytelling. I think it could create a lot of potential for the character and make him stand out from other creepypasta characters.

  • @CowMalicious9479

    @CowMalicious9479

    I definitely agree. As a storyteller and writer myself, when I create creepy characters, I like to give them backstories and personalities. For example, I have a character that is super sadistic and evil. He's a fallen angel that enjoys hurting people. Whenever I write about him, a tend to do it from his victim's perspective, but I always make sure that Blake (Blake is the fallen angel) really shows his personality when he's killing people or driving innocents insane. Like when he's killing or torturing people, he sort of treats it like a game. He is also VERY fond of himself and cares a lot about his looks. Back when he lived in heaven, he would always feel quite bored. If one of his friends was going through a hard time or got hurt, he wouldn't feel any sympathy for them, and would actually find it quite entertaining. But he was never honest to himself about his sadistic thoughts, he was always in denial about it and thought something was wrong with himself for a very long time. Until one day he ventured out of Heaven out of curiosity of what was outside his peaceful world. He bumped into a young demon, but he was too young to realize that demons were bad news. Blake and the demon talked for hours, it seemed that they had a lot in common. The demon figured out that Blake was a sadistic angel, and offered him a chance to go to hell with him. Blake immediately turned him down. The demon then convinced Blake to come with him and try hurting someone. After hurting a few people with the demon, Blake realised he was having the time of his life! And wanted more. He then agreed to go to Hell with the demon. Blake then learned how to torture people and drive them insane. Blake then grew up to be a confident, sadistic killer. So yeah, that's my OC Blake for ya. What do you think?

    Seriously we got stretchy powers, clown/jester motif, created to be a best friend for someone who outgrew them, waited for years for them to come back even though they abandoned them, became evil and got a emo design because they were abandoned (Though it could be argued that LJ got his murder stuff from Isaac becoming a murderer)@@KoriParker-iz9pv

    LJ is one of my favourites as well! But it could do with a lot of improvement, for example; Jack could act more like an actual clown instead of just a messed-up killer. He could use more circus-like methods and tricks, and act like he's entertaining a crowd of people, cracking a few jokes here and there. But I'm not going to fuss over it too much. I still very much enjoyed the story, even if it made my tummy turn... Violently! So I'll just appreciate the story for what it is, and enjoy myself.

    Great video as always Fish! Also, hope you have a good Christmas m8! I'd honestly like to see your thoughts on Dogscape or Normal Porn for Normal People, one of those creepypastas that's a strange mixture of good and bad elements. Bad stories wise, Jane the Killer is one worth talking about for just how much it almost fetishizes its main characters and somehow tops Jeff the Killer (though not the 2015 one imo) in badness. It's also a good story to highlight the issues with spinoff stories.

    I could rewrite the story to make it more suspenseful than gory. With better character development. I wrote my own story loosely based on it where Jack finds healing and is the king of a vast amusement park that's all illusion. I like horror too but I also like those feel good movies, so I kinda combined the two. And sorry to you and David Near who does a perfect Jack voice but isn't big on love stories, Jack hooks up with and is besties with my main character.

    Many seconds ago I had an idea for a creepypasta about a kid who is down on his luck and then he finds a computer in the woods. When he opens it a giant lizard like demon made of literal code jumps out of the computer and almost kill him but in the end the kid manages to Chase the demon away ends itis revealed that the demon put a curse on the kid before it was killed and the kid turned into a monster and murdered his entire family. (This entire story is finished And I am thinking about wether or not I should post it. Whadda you guys think)

    lucaschannel7 2 Yeah, it really reminded me of one of the remake version of The Stephen King’s “IT” movie with a mixed of Nightmare on Elm Street movie just to top it off to make the story a lot more terrifying and a lot more suspense, like by turning into something that is unholy from chapter 2. Or maybe turning Issac’s dreams into a living nightmare because Laughing Jack’s rundown carnival is an actual purgatory, just to torment Issac until he’d slowly go insane by playing pop goes the weasel music playing repeatedly over and over again.

    I think the Starwars prequels are a great example of a prequel done well. There are so many little details and foreshadowing in the movie, plus if you know the characters then their “cheesey” deliver is almost always meant on purpose. I personally have no problem with melatonins, they didn’t remove any mysticism of the force for me. The powers and abilities are still the same but with an extra idea of “power levels” cuz that’s how it was meant to be understood as. That and the idea that anyone can use the force, they just need to be intune enough with themselves to use the full power of it. Luke beating Vader (even if he was holding back) is way cooler cuz of that idea. The people who shit on the prequels misunderstand so much about them and bitch about the littlest things.

  • @bluemario3429

    @bluemario3429

    Now with Origin of Laughing Jack, there is no foreshadowing at all. Stuff just seems to happen, it would be cool if the kid treated Jack like how the kid did in the original. Maybe having vents like a dream and the mom finding out about Jack but reversed. You could have done some really cool ideas with this but no it’s pretty basic.

    I think this makes Laughing Jack look even worse because the fact that The mom from the 1st one could have also been Jack & she could have killed James & The dog so maybe Jack could be a different personality of the mom's or make Jack an unknown entity. Note: I like The Star Wars Prequels especially Revenge of the Sith but yes, Fish prequels can work sometimes but I see your point.

    I do like this story, in some aspects. The point of the story, in my opinion, isn’t really to make LJ likeable or anything. I just view it as a story about the child of an abuser becoming an abuser and LJ following his footsteps. The father and the mother die, but I don’t feel bad about it, and Isaac dies but I still don’t feel bad or anything. I feel bad for LJ’s situation but I don’t feel very sad about his story or anything because I understand and know his original story. I do feel bad about him being left alone but I don’t think he’s likeable and while I don’t know the author’s exact intentions I just don’t see the story in that way. While I’m not gonna say the story as a whole is good, I just kinda like the Laughing Jack part of it. But it was a pretty fun video and I do see what you mean in a lot of aspects, cool video overall.
