What many people would benefit from is starting from zero... How to create the business to begin with. Most people don't know how to create a website that can make them money.

If you like to read, I think you're gonna love this: // One-sentence-summary of the video: Dan explains the common mistake of sacrificing leverage for social media growth or money, and outlines the three types of distribution and three stages of a creator while emphasizing the importance of monetization and growing your brand with content. // Summary, longer version: Dan discusses how many creators make the mistake of sacrificing leverage for social media growth or money. He explains that while it may be tempting to focus on increasing followers and getting more attention on social media, it's important to also focus on monetization and growing your brand with content. This will allow you to create a sustainable and profitable business. Dan then outlines the three types of distribution: the network effect, the eternal markets, and the long tail. He explains that understanding these types of distribution can help you to better understand how to grow and monetize your business. Dan also discusses the three stages of a creator, from beginner to advanced. He explains that at the first stage, creators are focused on building their brand and creating content, but may not have a clear understanding of how to monetize their work. At the second stage, creators have a better understanding of their audience and have begun to monetize their work, but may still be struggling to grow their business. At the final stage, creators have a well-defined brand, a clear understanding of their audience, and are able to consistently monetize their work. Dan emphasizes the importance of not getting stuck in one business ideology and being open to pivoting as needed. He also mentions his self-paced course on digital economics, which teaches the systems for productizing yourself and growing your brand with content, leading people into your product or service, and automating or systematizing it to be profitable and efficient. // Key findings in the video: 1. Many creators make the mistake of sacrificing leverage for social media growth or money. 2. It's important to focus on monetization and growing your brand with content, rather than just increasing followers. 3. There are three types of distribution: the network effect, the eternal markets, and the long tail. 4. There are three stages of a creator: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 5. It's important to not get stuck in one business ideology and be open to pivoting as needed. 6. Dan offers a self-paced course on digital economics which teaches the systems for productizing yourself and growing your brand with content, leading people into your product or service, and automating or systematizing it to be profitable and efficient. // Pieces of advice: 1. Don't aim for followers or just grow really fast and followers because then you're not going to be able to monetize because they're very generic. 2. If you understood marketing to any extent, you can raise the awareness level of that audience to the point of being a buyer. 3. Stick at a low audience and you're in that cycle of I need to reach out and do manual labor or I need to get more followers. 4. Don't get trapped in one business ideology. 5. Don't be afraid to pivot. 6. Consider enrolling in Dan's self-paced course on digital economics to learn the systems for productizing yourself and growing your brand with content, leading people into your product or service, and automating or systematizing it to be profitable and efficient. 7. Understand the three types of distribution to better understand how to grow and monetize your business. 8. Focus on monetization and growing your brand with content. 9. Don't sacrifice leverage for social media growth or money. 10. Don't get caught up in the hype of other creators or business models and try to emulate them. 11. Find a balance between growing your brand and monetizing your work. 12. Don't be afraid to ask for help or seek out resources to help grow your business. 13. Use automation and systemization to make your business more efficient and profitable. 14. Don't be afraid to experiment with different business models and strategies to find what works best for you. 15. Keep learning and growing as a creator and business owner. 16. Don't be afraid to take risks and try new things in order to grow and succeed. 17. Use your unique strengths and skills to differentiate yourself from others in your field. 18. Be consistent and persistent in your efforts to grow and monetize your business. 19. Don't get discouraged by setbacks or failures, but use them as opportunities to learn and improve. 20. Subscribe to Dan (that's my addition, lol). // Single most important concept: It's difficult to identify a single most important concept in this video, as Dan discusses a range of topics and offers several pieces of advice. However, a key concept that is mentioned throughout the video is the importance of focusing on monetization and growing your brand with content, rather than just increasing followers. This is emphasized as a key factor in building a sustainable and profitable business. Dan also discusses the importance of understanding different types of distribution and the various stages of a creator's journey, and offers advice on how to grow and monetize a business effectively. // Main topics covered in the video: 1. The mistake of sacrificing leverage for social media growth or money. 2. The importance of focusing on monetization and growing your brand with content. 3. The three types of distribution: the network effect, the eternal markets, and the long tail. 4. The three stages of a creator: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 5. The importance of not getting stuck in one business ideology and being open to pivoting. 6. Dan's self-paced course on digital economics. 7. The importance of understanding marketing to raise the awareness level of your audience. 8. The importance of finding a balance between growing your brand and monetizing your work. 9. The benefits of automation and systemization for a business. 10. The importance of experimenting with different business models and strategies. 11. The importance of learning and growing as a creator and business owner. 12. The value of taking risks and trying new things in order to grow and succeed. 13. The importance of using your unique strengths and skills to differentiate yourself from others in your field. 14. The value of consistency and persistence in growing and monetizing a business. 15. The importance of not getting discouraged by setbacks or failures, but using them as opportunities to learn and improve. // Feedback for @DanKoeTalks: Great video, Dan! I really appreciate the roadmap you provided for one person businesses. It's clear that you have a lot of experience and knowledge in this area, and your insights are really valuable. I especially appreciated the tips on monetization and growing your brand with content. That's something I've been interested in, so it was really helpful to hear your perspective. Your advice on not getting stuck in one business ideology and being open to pivoting was also really eye-opening. I can't wait to check out your self-paced course on digital economics and see how it can help me grow my business. Keep up the great work, and thanks again for sharing your expertise!

As someone who has been around awhile, worked in different fields, and has done a ton or two of reading on this and other topics, I have to say I’m pretty impressed with you so far. Your video is much more compelling than some of your written material, I think primarily because you definitely come across as real and wanting to be helpful - without the “salesman” approach that i am soooo tired of (and makes me want to pull my brain out of my head with my hand to show the salesman that I really do have one). So I am dipping my toe in for a bit to see what transpires. Looking forward to the journey.

Very helpful birds-eye-view of the creator journey and what you need to prioritize when. Part of me wants to parallel process a bunch of this even though I'm a stage 1 creator. Obviously prioritizing growth makes sense early on though. Big takeaway for me was that Social Media growth is a learnable skill. I'm often tempted to believe it is random chance or getting in early - but no, it is a skill, and if I'm not growing it is because I haven't developed the skill.

Really fantastic roadmap! I actually started out as a freelance content writer in 2009 and learned DR copywriting and email automation in 2017 and got into brand strategy shortly after (basically stage 2). I got trapped in working about 18 hours a day (not good), so I shifted (slightly, I'm still a consultant and writer) to a membership model with a newsletter (stage 3). Stage 3 actually felt the most natural because pattern recognition is really natural for me and I have lots of different experience (like my neuropsychology + cultural anthropology degrees -- with a dash of Star Trek -- I can bring to branding that carves out a space that's just me -- and makes it really obvious when people copy, which they do). I never consciously worked stage 1, even though I had a small-but-mighty, loyal audience through networking (rather than continuously testing out short-form content), so I'm going back to that stage to work that more intentionally to go even deeper with the other stages. And I do think with a model like this, it's more of a spiral where we continuously revisit the stages to reach a deeper depth (for lack of a better word) instead of just checking it off the list and not going back. I know I've found that as I've grown the last 13-14 years and have more of a community focus, my audience has grown and shifted, too, so it's beneficial to ditch the ego and experiment with new ideas, short content, and quick ideas to see what'll resonate with my current audience at their current level rather than getting trapped in this idea that "I'm beyond this." (Which is bullshit and limiting anyway.)

One thing I can say is like what you're putting down. You resonate with me and I like your style. I can make it fully discernible. Keep it up and maybe I'll see you in this class that I'm watching.😊

It is amazing to think about the amount of your content that I have consumed, I don’t know how to thank you for these videos you produce. Watching your videos has made me realise that what I want to create is not impossible, I want to start a business that I am passionate about, that allows me to attain financial freedom without having to build an empire with thousands of employees. I’ve been having a hard time tying myself to a specific career and now I’m learning that I don’t have to, I can explore my interests, without necessarily having to go to College to study to get a job, share what I learn and monetise the knowledge I have.

Thank you Dan for making such relevant videos, so in-depth, much wisdom, so helpful for me who felt boxed at times with the niching down advice. Even your consistency advice is probably the only one I can accept. Also... I love the "this video is sponsored by me". Stealing it.

Wow! 40 minutes video, i couldnt stop listening, very immersive. Intense value in there, i was just about to do this journey regardless, but this one provided me more then you could imagine. Intense mental clarity and its just a luck for me that is also what interests me most. Thanks for sharing, "As to methods there may be a million and then some but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can succesfully select his pwn methods" Very enlightening quote and content. Can't wait to catch up.

We (me included) continue to search, learn, watch and listen instead of just taking fcking action! Seek help and advice once you get stuck in your venture... Ready, Fire, Aim. 3 types of distribution are mentioned in this video: 1. Built. You build distribution by growing on Social media nowadays to gather an audience or a readership for value. 2. Borrowed. This thing is for podcasts, where you can get someone else’s podcast and promote yourself and your product. 3. Bought. So, you buy distribution by paying for ads on Facebook, Instagram, and Google.
