@carlloud1187 I feel you, man. I'm sorry your love passed away.. That particular lyric touched me because she wanted more than I could give at the time. We were so young then. I wasn't where I wanted to be at 21 years of age. She felt that she was in the way of my progress. I was a few credits away from graduating. Between school, work, and trying to maintain a relationship, I guess something had to give. I loved that girl.. And I know she loved me, but she was right for calling it when she did. I think she went back to the UK 🇬🇧, I'm not quite sure, but she will always be my girl.

I was ten years old then and would be so happy when this played on KFRC SAN FRANCISCO, my sister and I would go in my grandparents bedroom which had a huge mirrored sliding isn't door and water h ourselves dance and dance. The O'Jays were at their musical best with a great combination of 50's doo wop and 70's disco on a great song written and produced by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff that hit number one on the R&B charts for five weeks and hit number four on the pop charts in the summer of 1978.

I'm 39 and 70's R&B-early 00's Hip-hop and R&B is the only music that resonates with me

Loved this classic Gamble and Huff song the first time I heard when it at age 13 and still loving it. Eddie Levert and Mr. Walt Williams were quite the duo sharing lead vocals with the GREAT O'Jays. Thank all for this jam.

Their voices compliment each other so well....

First heard this when I was on my way to Travis AFB, CA from Plattsburgh AFB, NY, on the kings highway somewhere between Toronto & Detroit in 1978. Man I was blown away. Could hardly wait to get to my new assignment so I could buy this fabulous song. And then right after I heard another great song by ZZ Hill called, 'This Time They Told The Truth'. Those two songs will live with me until I'm gone from this earth.

Well maybe those were good back in the day but what happened to young black generation. All that comes out of thier mouth is filth. Anger, killing etc. Are you proud of them also.

Sam Cooke was SMOOOOOTH. In 1978 4 white boys from suburban chicago should up at a Funkadelics show. On southside. We were not messed with at all. 17854 brothers and 4 16 year olds were the same. They were funky..

What a great song back in the day. Brings back a lot of good memories. Also a song great song to dance to,a timeless classic.
