It is now 2024 and I am still listening. I grew up in the era of the four tops. I remember when this song was number one. I truly truly miss the music of the 70s the 60s and the 80s. Music meant so much more because it was the words that went with the music. Thankful to still be here and enjoying the music of my era❤❤

Saw them with The Temptations at the mountain winery. I think it was in September 2023. They were tired and old, but they were still great and there was only one original I think from both maybe two from the Temptations that that was the best concert I’ve ever been to.

Levi Stubbs was an amazing talent. Vastly underrated as a singer. Never got the recognition he deserved, which reminds me: Kudos to him for declining opportunities to go solo, out of deference to his fellow Tops. May the great man rest in eternal peace. Entertain God with that voice!

What a fantastic voice

That's my cousin Eddie "Chank" Willis whose guitar riff start this song. He was an original member of The Motown Session Band "The Funk Brothers" who churned out hit after hit for that Record Company. His distinct guitar can be heard on "Signed, Sealed Delivered", "I Was Made To Love Her" and many many more. He was self taught. His guitar style was very percussive. His chords usually coincided with the snare drum, that's how he got the nickname "Chank". So glad to have spent some quality time with him before he passed away August 20, 2018.....He's truly missed!

I'm 75 yrs old now and grew up with these guys tunes, such a professional bunch of singers the Tops were, Levi's voice and David Ruffins were the sound of Motown

I am 72 and I believe we had the best of the music in our generation. These guys are great. I'm grew up in Detroit and Motown was everything. That was a great time to grow up.

RIP. 😢 The last of the original Four Tops, Duke Fakir, passed away today. I remember like yesterday when Baby, I Need Your Loving, Can't Help Myself, Same Old Song, and all of those other great songs first hit the charts in the mid 60's. Great singers, songwriters, studio musicians, arrangers, producers. Motown up north, Stax/Volt down south, NY, LA, New Orleans, Philly, the great American song book of the mid 20th century.

I was born during this era of 4 tops, but I get sad too this music was wonderful and easy listening but still touches your heart and it's very enjoyable. Levi love this guy and I pray he, Lawrence and Obie are resting in peace.

Levi Stubs was one of the greatest tenors I ever heard!

Saw The Four Tops at a soul weekender at a holiday camp here in England in the 1980's. We couldn't quite believe that we were in the company of these legends. Absolutely blew the place away, and did about an hour more than scheduled. The audience just kept screaming out for more. Then Levi did a solo version of Gloria Estefan's Cuts Both Ways. It will stay with me forever, and can still make the hairs on the back of my neck rise. Lovely, devoted friends who made such sweet music. Bless them all.

Levi’s version of ‘cuts both ways’ is magnificent.Bognor 1991 met them leaving I think they were staying at the Grand Eastbourne. No one in music has ever meant more to me than Levi

People that didn't grow up during this time, have no idea how Great it was!

I especially like this song because Levi sings the entire song more than harmonizing. I particularly love his voice when he belts it out. Wish young people would learn to sing again.

Believe it or not this wasn't in their prime. Which was like 1965 through the 1970s. This song, their Grammy winning performance, was in 1982. I don't when this video performance was. But, just think of it, 15 years after "Bernadette", "The Same Old Sng", "I Can't Help Myself ", "Reach Out I'll Be There ", "Baby I'll Need Your Loving ", and so many more. And they were friends who had been together from High School. Instead of. What normally happens, where the best ones leave and go off on there own. (Such as Diana Ross, who actually wasn't the best. She was just the one that Berry Gordy liked and ended up having an affair with. As well as a couple of children. According to The other people at Motown, Flo Ballard had the greatest voice. Plus, she was the leader and founder of the group. Until Gordy got interested in Diana. And Flo also chose the name "Supremes". Which Diana didn't like.) Unfortunately Levi was the 1st to pass away. From cancer of course. There is a Video, on KZread, of a great performance of Aretha Franklin and the 4 Tops with Levi (in a wheelchair) shortly prior to his passing.

God Rest Levi, you have left so many good memories.

Why can't we have more music like this has all the recording artist lost site of fantastic music 🎉❤

This is tough to watch. I am 79 and the love of my life and I are no longer able to dance to beautiful music like this. It makes me realize how little time we have left. But I am treasuring the memories while I can. Thanks for posting this performance.

I'm 40yrs old and I'm loving this performance, my parents played alot of 4 tops especially my mom. Even though I was born this very year they are performing in this video. I love Levi all the videos I've seen he has the best voice. His rhythm, voice and that beautiful aurora he exudes from his inner man I just love. I'm moved over to tears because you could see and feel there love for each other and the performing. It's different then some of the other groups. The song is such a nice melody and a REAL live performance unlike today. Basically 4 tops was the perfect name these guys were the cream of the crop at Motown and as far as groups in there day.

Sadly, Duke Fakir died yesterday. I got to see him perform in late 2022 (at age 86) with the Four Tops at the time, one of whom was the son of Lawrence Payton. He was great, the group was great, the band was great. He even did a solo number. A true gentleman and a powerhouse of a man from one of the greatest groups ever. RIP Duke.

I can still see mom and dad hand dancing to this song, they looked to me like they was floating on air smooooth, boy they don't dance like that now I miss them days

Another, tears in my eyes, and a smile on my face viewing of this outstanding performance by, more than outstanding, THE FOUR TOPS.

Music like this will never get old. True talent, no mic filters or anything else needed, just pure God given talent and good music from one of the best groups ever recorded!

Levi Stubbs, what a voice!

Real instruments/musicians…….no auto tune…4 men who can actually sing showing their talent. I am in my sixties….i miss the music of the 60s, 70s and early 80s. After that…it went to the dogs.

Levi had the voice you could listen to for ever

I love this song because my heart was just broken from someone who I dated for 12 months and I found out he was lying and cheated on me!

Levi stubbs was one of the greatest soul singers of his time and will always be there great songs RIP.

Oh Levi could sing. One of the greatest singers there ever was. An incredible voice.

So many great songs by this group. They always went toe-to-toe with the Temptations. Both fantastic singing groups of the 60's. Levi Stubbs and David Ruffin were the greatest lead singers.

+Ray G I'm 62, and the "music" I hear today is complete and utter RUBBISH!! There is nothing in this world like Motown music. I especially love The Temptations and the Four Tops. When Levi Stubbs died in 2008, my heart broke.

Incredible song both the Tops and the band are HOT HOT HOT. So sad that they are gone cause nobody can make music this great anymore. Irreplaceable!!

There will never be another era of great music that we experienced.....

I had the privilege of seeing the Four Tops in person. They have such respect for their audience. Bravo!

R.I.P. Abdul Kareem "Duke" Fakir, please spread some love and heartfelt condolences to his family. He was the last of the original Four Tops.

Motown certainly had its fair share of fantastic singers but if they had anyone better than Mr Levi Stubbs i have never heard them!!

Levi was the voice that got me into Motown and Soul music back in the 60's. Got to agree he's one of the best soul voices ever!

The medley between the four tops and the temptations, absolutely fantastic, and the respect between all of them, absolutely out the top drawer

It's Aug 2021 living 68 yrs still love the Four Tops and every kind of music especially Motown.

How cool was the FOUR TOPS top group smart and smooth

This was the real black soul music it will never be duplicated again

I called it "Tempts. Four Tops etc." Rock n' Roll. I didn't know any better. I was born in 47 and Black Music of this type was called Rock n' Roll.

One of the best groups of all time! Rest in peace Levi!
