The Temptations My Girl / Get Ready - rare stereo studio tv remaster 1965 66

"My Girl" is a soul music song recorded by the Temptations for the Gordy (Motown) record label. ... the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant" - - - - "Get Ready" is a Motown song written by Smokey Robinson, which resulted in two hit records for the label: a U.S. No. 29 version by The Temptations in 1966, and a U.S. No. 4 version by Rare Earth in 1970. It is significant for being the last song Robinson wrote and produced for the Temptations, due to a deal Berry Gordy made with Norman Whitfield, that if "Get Ready" did not meet with the expected degree of success, then Whitfield's song, "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", would get the next release, which resulted in Whitfield more or less replacing Robinson as the group's producer.

David Ruffin knocked it out of the park on My Girl. It's sad to think how he passed way, but drugs are never kind in the end. Rest in peace to David, one of the best singers of all time.

Mike, buddy, it's just the way we live now. When I was young, before cell phones, my parents listened to the news at night, but during the day they lived locally, were focused on family and friends, and doing things. Church, clubs, social interaction, PTA, gardening, talking, courting, listening to music and making music....living. Now, the phone and its aps rule us, we are focused on ourselves, we are meaner, uneasy, our government lies to us, and we worship our cultural icons. You get what you strive for.@@mikeh6511

The firing of David Ruffin. At the time he was going steady with Dean Martin's daughter Barbra Gail Martin In June 1968, the Temptations agreed that Ruffin had finally crossed the line when he missed a June 22 Cleveland, Ohio, date with the Temptations in order to attend a performance by his new girlfriend, Barbara Gail Martin (Dean Martin's daughter). Five days later Ruffin was fired. He was replaced by Dennis Edwards, who had been a member of the Contours. Now that he was no longer wanted, Ruffin began to turn up at shows unannounced. When the Temptations would begin a song that Ruffin had sung lead on, he would walk out onto the stage and take the mic from Edwards. The fans loved it. The Temptations hated it. Still, the group decided to give Ruffin a second chance. He showed up late for what was supposed to be his comeback show in Gaithersburg, MD, and that was the end of that. popdose.com/soul-serenade-david-ruffin-my-whole-world-ended-the-moment-you-left-me/ His temper and drug abuse may have very well contributed to girlfriend Tammi Terrell death Read Wikipedia David Ruffin / he lied to Tammi proposing to her while being already married. drugs can bring out that devil in you. Had a girlfriend Jekyll Hyde. So sorry but truth can put a dagger in me 2 some time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ruffin#:~:text=In%20June%201968%2C%20the%20Temptations,Dean%20Martin%27s%20daughter).Her mother banned everybody from Motown attending Tammi Terrell's furneral except Marvin Gaye, according to her fiancé Dr, Ernest Garrett. yeah I no and I thought her and Marvin were tighter than friends.

This group is the best, and this song to come a long in the history of motown music. If your feet don't move you would not be hiped & considered a jive kat. Get up & dance it will help your soul.

@ 1:07 the unsung bass hero James Jamerson with his unique style of two finger string plucking and the FUNK Brothers without which there would be no Motown as we remember it. And mad choreography from Cholly Atkins! The Swag of David Ruffin can't be ignored and Eddie was rumored to be the Man (to the ladies). A magical, fabulous time and thankfully these old clips are proof of that!

I grew up listening to this music. How I wish those days could return. I know for years there was a lot of racism and yes unfortunately its still around but as a musician for 33 years,I found that music was /is a deal breaker. Music overcomes and surpasses racism because it recognizes the talent and quality of good people who create awesome music, regardless of skin color.
