North Face Recon is still my go-to bag, though for the money, I feel like Osprey might be a bit better across the board.

So appreciate your honest take. For EDC, curious about what bags that ride high, tight and comfortable speak to you. I'm Lauren's height. So far the GR1 21L (18" long) is the only bag that achieves two of three (still breaking in straps) but it's a heavy sucker to lug around all day. P.S. I, too, prefer a separate laptop compartment.

I was looking at an Osprey Daylite Plus the other day, it seemed like an excellent pack and just about the right size for a day to day bag and a weekend hiking bag. Which osprey do you have? Is it recommended?

your water bottle is too skinny....come on it's a 50 dollar bag! It works and is very comfortable. Next priced NF bags are double the price.

I realize they probably have different lines of different quality, but my 20+ year old NF bag feels decidedly better built than whatever I see on the shelves at Dick's these days.
