Just got mine I immediately felt the need (and also acted on the impulse) to cut the fleece on the outmost compartment (where you put the iPhone) so that you can reach all the way down and quickly store a thinner jacket or thicker scarf, without having to go into the main compartment. Putting only soft things there will still allow for a lot of room in the main compartment. I’m happy I did this, now it’s more fit for my needs

Hello, How has the watter bottle bungee held up on the Borealis? You mentioned it could get loosened up in the future and if you had an update on it that would be great. I have a 40 oz water bottle and want to secure it. Good content btw!

Halo, I would like to ask if the Borealis is suitable for four days to five days trip.

Does mesh help with breathability at all? I have had and still have some backpacks with mesh but I sweat basically the same amount in the summer. Even with Osprey's Airscape I sweat without any problems in the summer and I don't see a big difference in the amount really

How to clean these bags? Especially the bright ones, like light grey, gravel, etc…

I like jester because its more small than borealis that can fit with my small body, but side pocket on borealis its my point to have backpack

I have heard that the borealis holds more, is that actually true ?

Ugh the one thing I wanted to know about was the fasteners on the bottom of the borealis. You touched them at 2:38, are those a third set of straps to hold a ground pad(shoulder, waist, bottom) or is that just how you hid the waist straps?

You could easily use the bottom 2 straps for anything. I cut mine off. Also I removed the plastic back panel for weight.

What colorway is the Jester in?

Great review. Can you tell me whether the top shoulder straps in borrealis are durable enough?

Super, the whole bag is prob. Over built.

i like jester when laptop is not needed. Space would be simply recoverable when there's no dedicated laptop zippered compartment

Can the borealis hold a 36 ounce yeti?

Why isn't this Borealis model available in the Netherlands :( This colour is easily the best one...

Ranger bands on Amazon if you need to have something to hold down those straps.

how likely is the borealis strap to tear, that’s all you see on amazon reviews and to my knowledge all TNFs higher end models have them

I always get back packs with side compression straps that way i can secure water bottles with loop handles with a carabiner and clip them to compression straps that way they won’t fall out water bottle pockets

No I think the borealis is pretty good for everyday use

I like the borealis but don’t like the random straps that nobody uses and how the volume is mostly in the main pocket

While I know from observation that most people don’t use a backpack waist strap (why TNF made it removable on Borealis) or even the padded hip belts on larger bags, I’m the “nobody” who does use them. Being a bit “pack crazy,” I own 6 backpacks ranging in capacity from 15L to 40L and every one has either a waist belt (incl. the 15!) or a padded hip belt (the 36L & 40). That said, every one of the four waist straps on my bags has a strap keeper to retain danglers. So I won’t defend TNF for that.

On one hand the Jester is a great backpack, especially at its price, but for the same price there are much better backapcks from different brands. However, when it comes down to the Jester or the Borealis, I'd get the Borealis backpack. Mostly because of the separate laptop compartment, which becomes a plus when traveling.

Can the borealis fit a 1 and 1/2 inch binder that’s almost filled all the way? I have a class for school that requires me to have a pretty thick handbook and want to make sure if I invest in a new north face it’s going to be worth my money :)

Yes they definitely can if you're still wondering, that's the size of hydroflask that I have and it easily fits in the water bottle pocket.
