The Nissan Rogue's Safety Problem

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A comprehensive safety review of the Nissan Rogue, a popular compact SUV. In this video, we dive deep into the crash test ratings in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's small-overlap, updated moderate overlap, updated side impact, and roof strength tests. We also examine the performance of the Rogue's automatic emergency braking system and headlights.

Interesting that you mention the Honda CR-V as that vehicle actually ended up performing poor in the updated moderate front overlap

Looks like rear passenger safety needs to be improved on these vehicles. Great video 🙌

Most rivals got the same rating when they were testing using the updated front and side test.

The beginning of the video has Footage of a 2014 Red Nissan rogue, with subtitles calling it the 2021 model. The vehicle has the year make and model on the driver side door and roof of the car, with mismatch video title.

Yes, I had to use the 2014 footage because there is no available footage of the current generation in this test. The data and analysis is based on the current generation though.

Actually, the driver side small overlap that you are showing only applys to the second gen of the Nissan Rogue (2014 - 2020) As you said, it did get only an acceptable with structure, but did still get a good. However, the Rogue was redesigned in 2021, which it then aced the driver side small overlap. Otherwise, this video is great! Good to know.

Thanks for watching and subscribing! The reason I used footage of the second gen Rogue is because there is no publicly available small-overlap footage of the new Rogue (the test was conducted by Nissan and they keep the videos and photos to themselves). My analysis however is based on data from the new Rogue. The new Rogue’s overall score in the small overlap is “Good” but the structure had a concerning amount of intrusion (12 cm) on the driver’s side. Thanks for watching and wishing you a great day!

Thank you for the suggestion. Currently, the X5 hasn’t been tested in the two most demanding crash tests - the updated moderate overlap and updated side impact tests. If it gets tested and the footage is available, I will make a video.

Nissan Rogue shares one platform with Mitsubishi Outlander, why is Outlander safer?

The Outlander hasn't been tested in the updated Moderate Overlap and Side Impact 2.0 crash tests (the two tests that the Rogue had a particular challenge with). If the Outlander were tested, it would likely get similar results. The Outlander and Rogue are very similar, but not identical (for instance, the Outlander is larger and heavier than the Rogue, which has implications for safety).

The Outlander has Mitsubishi's RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) Body Construction, the Outlander also probably has a different tuning when it comes to their restraint systems, also the structure might have some differences.
