The Next Collectible Rolex? Rolex Datejust Oysterquartz 17000

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I talk about the potential upside to the Rolex Oysterquartz line. I think it is such a unique and special watch that collectors in the future will want it even though it’s quarts. Especially the full stainless steel which is personally my favorite. I would love to know your opinion down in the comments below do you agree with me or do you think collectors will not get over the Point that it is Quartz. If you’re curious or have any questions you can email me at justtherightwatch@gmail.com and I’ll be sure to answer you.

I definitely consider it for what it is one of the most accurate quartz watches there is built like a tank and looks different than the regular datejust.

I love the Rolex Oysterquartz. It is far away from any other quartz Watch. The movement (traditional mechanical part combined with quartz drive) is just brilliant. I think the Oysterquartz is probably the most underestimated Rolex. I'm sure the price will go in one direction only.

You mentioned prices of around USD 4500 when this video was made about a year ago. When looking at ebay and chrono24 prices I see prices of 8,000-10,000. Does that mean these prices have already doubled since last year or was the 4500 a low estimate? Great video, thanks!

Be patient. I paid just shy of 5 for a 2000' model box and papers. But yes on chrono the same one is listed for 9-13 now. IMO they may be there one day but not yet.

Hi sir became your fan after watching this . I have the same looking Titus tuning fork watch which was once omega . Subscribing to see your true enthusiasm sir .those who can recognise the value of vintage , they can see that this Oyster quartz is a treasure . Grand seiko like finishing in 60s and 70s was a miracle

What I have always liked about this watch is that it has a really good back story, with it being the only Rolex with a quartz movement. Its an immediate talking point in any collection of more high value and exclusive watches. This stainless steel, fairly plain looking (but very classy) Rolex, justifies its place.

I couldn’t agree more with you. I think it’s undervalued unbelievably in the market. Especially with their production numbers. Truly incredible and I don’t think Rolex will ever make a quartz watch again. Even looking at it it doesn’t look like Rolex would ever make a piece like this!

I don’t know why everybody has this agenda against Quartz. I get most of the pieces are very very cheap that are made out of quartz technology, but if somebody really paid attention to what Rolex did with this piece it’s just amazing. Especially being designed by one of the JLC family unbelievable. Just look at that case design.

People think they are bad investments because parts will become unavailable but this fear is unfounded. Nowadays this technology is trivial and can be reverse engineered. Reliance on Rolex was only true 20-30 years ago.

Yeah I agree and what about the really old Rolex movements. They don’t just keep those parts laying around to so the argument is invalid. 100% agree with you I think we are predicting the market future.

I like the look of the OysterQuartz, BUT, whats the situation with spare parts for the electronic side of things?? 5K and up for a watch that hasnt been produced for 20 years. I like the look but I dont think they're a long term collectors piece imho.

I don't see the value going up sharply due to low production numbers and limited parts out there to keep them running. However, it's definitely an intriguing piece and an important part of Rolex's history!
