The new movement of Boston Dynamic's Atlas isn't actually that difficult. We tried it ourselves

If something's possible, then it can be done. This is our robot BR002, after showing it a video from the internet and telling it to 'Get up', this is what happened!

Ideas are actually a dime a dozen. Ideas are super cheap. What's difficult is execution and implementation and follow through and eventually seeing that the idea was actually a good one. For example, a lot of Elon Musk's ideas weren't his at all, they were rejected by NASA back in the 1960s, such as the 'idea' of landing a rocket through controlled descent so it could be re-used. NASA rejected this as it was impractical and costly compared to just dropping the booster in the ocean and retrieving it, and it critically would have meant limiting the payloads they could send into space as some of that payload would have to be earmarked for fuel for landing the rocket. So Musk slapped his name on the unused impractical idea, talked it up with a ton of propaganda, dumped Billions into the project, and got it to work. It's not that it wasn't going to work; it's that it would have been too costly and complicated and less efficient compared to just dumping things in the ocean using parachutes. And his journey with this 'idea' has proven out exactly these criticisms. In the end, NASA was right to avoid such gimmicks. Unfortunately they have lost quite a bit of their funding, and their minds, and they are now working with Elon, using tech that they rejected 60 years ago.... Artemis is F'd in the Eh.

The reason the Boston Dynamics one looks so cool is the proportions, the lines, and the almost human way it moves -- minus that bizarre contortionist thing it does. It's like a droid from Star Wars. Ignore the motor sounds and put some clothes on it and we may not even realize it isn't human. A new kind of Turing Test, I say! If a robot walks around in full coverings/costume, can you tell it's a robot and not a human? We can look at those "Big Foot" videos and see that it is obviously a human in a costume based on the way it moves. I think we are leaving the realm where that was once true of robots. Your robot looks great guys! Just not as big a budget, apparently. I think these fluid movements and contoured humanoid bodies are going to be an absolute requirement going forward, unless it's purely utilitarian and meant for the commercial / defense sectors only. Right now Boston Dynamics has that category in the bag and I want to see some other companies pull it off at least as well as BD. Good luck to you, guys! You could get one of the BD robots at some point, and choreograph a fight between it and this one, so that yours wins. Like, have it snap the limbs of the BD one with its strength or something, we would all enjoy that.

Booster Robotics, I talked to someone at Boston Dynamics about working for them and they responded that in order to work for them I had to buy a robot for $50k. That's unreasonable. Is there any chance you might hire me?

Obviously an animation, but great work mimicking the movements in animation. The single shadow with multiple light sources is a giveaway.

If you had put this video out with a title like “we decided to replicate the movements of the new atlas with our robot”, my reaction would’ve been: hey, cool. That’s awesome! But instead, you phrased your title in a way that both downplays the achievement of Boston Dynamics and invites comparisons between your robot and Atlas. Bad idea. If the movement of the new atlas isn’t difficult, why can’t your robot move as smoothly and efficiently? Why can’t it walk and stand as straight as the new Atlas? Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you can do it well. The striking thing in the video introducing the new Atlas wasn’t really the moves that it made, it was the manner in which it made them. Your robot doesn’t move anything like Atlas, so it’s not very convincing to hear you say that the movement of Atlas is not difficult. Your robot can replicate some of the motions of Atlas, but not it’s movement.

the metals are too clean, obviously 3d animation, and how the camera shake and how the video is taken is definitely for 3d animation

I'm confused, did Boston Dynamics say that it's difficult. Did they imply in anyway that no one else can do it? Than why phrase the conversation like Boston Dynamics is trying to have an unnecessary competitive agenda. I am genuinely happy that your robot has accomplished the same functionality, now go create something new instead of showing the world that you can do similar moves as others. Taking swipes at the market leader is a very old tactic to get attention. Believe me, it's not a good look. Stay original and create your own benchmarks and you will be respected for it.
