To have names of every day people and to see the remains of their homes to me is precious. Everyone knows the rulers, the temples, the pyramids. But to see a scribe’s home and work and prayers is so special. I just feel so moved by that. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The “regular” people.

With the recent work regarding the DNA of the 18th Dynasty, the greatness of what became the New Kingdom becomes clear. Throughout the Middle kingdom, although the Dynastic line continued, the power struggle was such 5hat the regional governors in upper Egypt considered themselves to have as great a power as the Dynastic Pharaohs. Thus a vivil war broke out leaving Egypt back into the two lands prior to the Old Kingdom. Due to this schism, Lower Egypt with the Dynastic Pharaoh, endured the incursion of the Hyksos, Circa 1750 BCE. They are credited with bringing the light, spoked wheel chariot, horses and Tin/ Bronze into Egypt. With such superior technology, there was no way that the Dynastic line could fight them off even if upper Egypt assisted. This was endured , having two Pharaohs in lower Egypt until Circa 1550, BCE, at 5he end if the 17th Dynasty of Kamose and the beginning if the 18th Dynasty by his brother Ahmose. In Circa 1550 BCE the Eruption if Thera on the Aegean island of Santorini, an eruption so large that Ahmose had a stele inscribed regarding the effects of the day turning to night, Fire and Ice from the sky and a Pillar of Fire. Since sediment core samples from the Nike Delta has shown pumice and ash that is chemically identical to Thera, it is logical to state that although Thera and Memphis are around 500 mikes apart, the eruption was enormous.VEI 7+. With ejecta up into the stratosphere, and causing great winds from the east, and a Tsunami over 50 Meters high that ended the Minoan civilization on Crete. Such Tsunamis, draw water from all the oceans of the world especially as the volcanic cone of Thera plunged unto it’s magma chamber under the Aegean sea. The Hyksos had been known for having built two settlements in the Delta. Avaris, the administrative center and Ramses, a military center. A few kilometers apart. The foundations if river stone have been found at both locations. However, as this was moisture laden sediments, such foundations could only support mud brick structures. Socially, any envoy from the Dynastic Pharaoh Ahmose to the Hyksos, would be known by the family name, and indeed only someone of such name would be granted an audience. The DNA indicates that there were two strains that came together to form one family. Thus would be consistent for an upper Egyptian powerful family , the Hotep’s ant the Dynastic Pharaoh line the Mose’s . Around the time if the eruption, the Hyksos had a diminishment if military power and Ahmose seems to have combined the Hotep’s and the Mose’s lines together to both reunify the country and to gather sufficient military strength and technology, to drive the Hyksos out of lower Egypt Circa1500 BCE. And drive the Hyksos north through the levant destroying any allied stronghold cities such as Jericho along the way, most likely with the assistance of the Hebrews so the Hyksos were driven to the borders of the Hittites and thus expanding the domain of Egypt through the Levant. With the joining of these families, to honor each, the Pharaohs would for the most part alternate between Amenhotep and Thutmoses. And due to having driven the Hyksos out, the highly productive Delta siol would now lower the price of foodstuffs throughout the country, therefore greater wealth was to flow, making the Pharaohs even wealthier so they could begun in their massive building projects. The re-expansion into Nubia( Sudan) brought the gold mines back under their control and the Copper mines of the south eastern part of the Dead Sea valley, gave them an ample supply so through the predecessors to the Phoenicians, maritime trade was able to continue to take up the slack from the Minoans, especially Tin, in exchange for gold and wheat. This New Kingdom was the largest Empire that the Middle east had ever witnessed at that time, and could militarily draw upon such widespread manpower that Even with the Regency and usurpation of the throne by Hapsetsut, Thutmoses III was able to defeat a combined force at Meggido. When Thutmoses III finally took the throne he did his best to erase his mother’s usurpation. And give the throne to Thutmoses IV. Once the Mose’s line had been resoidified, there needed to be the honor of the Hotep’s restored, so the next Pharaoh was Amenhotep III. Apart from his Funerary temple at Memnon , he is now credited with having built the golden city if Aten near Thebes and possibly a temple to Aten near Karnak. His successor Amenhotep IV was wary ipof the increasing power of the Temple of Amun at Karnak so to quell their power he changed his name to Akhenaten , proclaimed Aten to be the only God with himself as the head of the temple and closed Karnak. To insure this he built his capital at Armana away from Thebes. It may be unfortunate that Akhenaten inherited his distant uncle Aye as his Grand Vizier, Aye was also a priest ofAmun at Karnak.and thereby was deprived from that income. Although Aye began a large Tomb at Armana, it was never finished, as with Akhenaten’s death, and the ascension of TutAnkhaten, , Aye became both Grand Vizier and Regent. But as such, Aye was able to convince the 9 yearbold, to reopen the temple of Amun at Karnak, and change his name to Tutankhamen. For that there are statues in Karnak depicting Tutankhamen as Amun. This woukd last till Tutankhamen was 18. While he was not the mist able Pharaoh, being crippled with a club left foot, he still may have led his forces against an incursion by the Libyans. As was depicted on a chest found in his tomb and on stone blocks from the Temple of Aten , found as inflii in a wall of Karnak. Indicating that Tutankhamen credited Aten with his victory, not Amun. Tutankhamen had married his older half sister Ankhetsetamun when he was 9 but they only had two still born children. Possibly as Tut may not have been mature enough for successful procreation. ( as if now, we cannot tell how old Tut was when he impregnated Ankhetsetamun nor her age at conception of the stillborn children. Either way, Tutankhamen had elevated his commander of the army to be his successor if something happened before he was able to produce an heir. This was Horemheb. When Tut was 19, he was involved in a chariot accident that was most likely during a hunt. While Egyptian chariots were buikt with anti rollover precautions, and even though a horse could break the main pole, the photos from Tut’s tomb show a chariot where the left axle is broken along with a destroyed floor surface. Along side this chariot is a broken wheel. While depictions if Pharaohs have them alone un a chariot while drawing a bow, there would normally be a driver so the Pharaoh would not have to do too many things simultaneously. During a hunt, the Pharaoh would hav has a hunting party. So an injured animal with great strength such as a hippopotamus most likely blindsided the chariot, breaking the wheel, axel and throwing Tutankhamen out of the chariot, flipping him over , breaking his left leg and while struggling up on his right knee, he was struck be another fully loaded chariot, crushing his sternum, left ribs and left ilium, along with his heart.. this was shown by an English firm that provides accident computer recreations for court cases and agrees with the virtual autopsy from the cat scan of the mummy. The driver was most likely killed by a broken neck immediately with the rollover At the time, Horemheb was securing the northern border as the Hittites were the greatest danger. Aye seeing his chance suggested to Ankhetsetamun that they marry ( thus keeping tge Dynasty in the family, hoewver Ankhetsetamun seeing Aye as a commonof and an old man( he was 61), refused and sent a letter to the King of the Hittites requesting a royal prince be sent to be her husband and to join the empires. This letter was found at 5he Hittite capital if Hatusha. A prince was sent but during his journey died. Horemheb could not leave the border due to this, so Aye forced his marriage plan, ( a ring bearing both their names has been found). After the marriage, Ate Usurped the throne, and Ankhetesetamun is no longer mentioned in the records. Aye proceeded to then have Tut put into coffins not made for him, and even had the toes of the outer coffin hacked off to fit jnside the sarcophagus all within a too small tomb most likely for Aye himself as he had left his grand tomb unused at Armana. He then had all the possessions of the Dynasty placed into the tomb, and even a rushed mummification of the body. When a small robbery was discovered, the tomb was sealed quickly. An early fall storm caused a flash floid covering up the tomb and leaving only what seemed to be a watercourse in the valley of the kings. It eould havr bern then that Aye woukd hsve destroyed all mention and depictions if Ankhenaten snd Tutankhamen’s reign except that even though being a priest, as Phataoh, he did not have power in the temple of Karnak. Although he could order the destruction of the temple of Aten and the city of Aten. Aye only reigned for four years and when he died, was put into what most likely was meant to be Tut’s grand tomb. Horemheb finally became the last of the 18th Dynasty, ad he designated that The military commander Ramses to be his heir. And the 19 Dynasty began with RamsesI, most likely born at Avaris or Ramses. As these settlements continued after the Hyksos were driven out, two hundred years prior.

@@mariakelly90210 Aye was Pharaoh after Tut. Then Horemheb but Horemheb was supposed to inherit the throne as an inscription was calling him the prince of Egypt. That was Tut’s decree but Aye usurped the throne while Horemheb was busy guarding the border with the Hittites..

Egyptian’s looting their own tombs sanctioned by the state: I can’t help but recall one of my own past lives in which I needed the jewelry off of my dead body. That jewelry had sentimental value to me in though I was reincarnated in a new body I still needed the jewelry from my old body. Think how the Egyptians must have felt explaining to people that they were reincarnations of pharaohs from the past. It was an emotional and spiritual thing to do for the Egyptians.
