God bless Dr. West.
What a brother I can be proud of so many of my brother's have traded love and truth for money and power and fame
revolutionary patience. the struggle continues...crushed but not defeated.
Love Dr. West. Thank you for posting.
What I like most about Dr. West that he did not lose his self motivation and enthusiasm of all social and political issues in US of A and still pushing so many young generations to be with him on the same train after all of these years. This is really RARE and extremely difficult so don't underestimate his role.
Wow, I'm not religious but I find it great that this event is hosted by a church that supports immigration reform. Fantastic! That's what Jesus was about.
Its sad that you get that as the point when you hear folks speak out against injustices. We can only pray for you and your kind. Because you dont wanna end racism or any other injustice.

Damn his sentences just resonate so much truth that it motivates me for more knowledge absorption, I learned a lot here, thank you Cornell West.
Damn. That brother is deep. You cant question his history, rhetoric, or his knowledge on the topic of oppression discrimination and poverty. I can only listen and learn. Whoever disagrees I just hope you disagree on a sensible level and not an emotional one.
PREACH!!!!!!!! Wow. This brought the tears. Soooo right on. 💓

When I was younger I believed what you are saying. I do agree when it was about non violent unity he was not a real threat and had support of the government, although he was being monitored by the feds, and when he spoke out against the Vietnam war, poverty and working conditions they took him out due to him being too powerful a leader to be out of pocket. But I wouldn't compare him to the "hope sellers" of today because he spoke out against injustice no matter despite political ramifications.
Dr Cornell West is a gift.
THANKS HARVARD... GOOD RIDDANCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always enjoy Bros. Cornell West's social commentary . It should also be noted that there is never any need for a christian to seek for absolute and correct truth outside of the anointing outside of the Word of God. Praise God for Prof West. Thank God that Jesus is LORD
DRUGS - Legalize drugs and the discrimination in the criminal justice goes away overnight. Not only that, drug cartels go out of business along with the violence they bring.
Doc West's : Moral of the story . poor unimaginative people are good & inventor entrepreneur people are bad . Dr West Jesus was a entrepreneur millionaire
I forgot how intelligent he is! I at first did not agree with what he said! However, He has proven the truth behind his facts!
I can listen to Dr. West all day...lol.
You ever think that is because of our experiences? I mean if we have went through situations where we have been blatantly discriminated against, its kind of easy to identify with that...as opposed to those who have never had to deal with that.

What he said at 29:33 is so true. I read an AP article in which Joe Biden (at a Latino themed inaugural bash attended by Mario Lopez, Marc Anthony, Eva Longoria and others) thanked the Latino community and said "We owe you. You guys made this [Obam's reelection] this happen." The care was only there because of their voting power.

He wouldn't be out of a job at all. He teaches at Princeton and I doubt there are many (if any) poor amongst the students there. So he's doing this so more poor people will have the opportunity to send their children to institutions such as the one he teaches in. So the poor people in the street can be rich in the classroom. If there were no poor, then he would be a professor quietly collecting his salary.
martin LUTHER king the best man of there world he haved one dreams!
Wow, can you imagine what people that lived in the REAL Jim Crow era would think? Pitiful!
As "everybody knows",much of the fines paid by convicted corporate defendants are written off their tax liability, and the tab is picked up by the general public.

Haven't you really understood by now that these two parties are but ONE. It's a club and they protect each other to the very end. One for you, two for me, two for you, one for me. Why don't you become wise or at least try and understand what is going on. Give it a try.

why doesn't he run for president?
"he realized his mistake and decided to join his fellow blacks" can you say more about that? I know he began demanding reparations toward the end of his life, but what mistake did he realize, and which fellow blacks did he join?
Bad Paper: Chasing Debt from Wall Street to the Underworld Hardcover - October 14, 2014 by Jake Halpern (Author)
Too Big to Jail: How Prosecutors Compromise with Corporations Hardcover - November 3, 2014 by Brandon L. Garrett (Author) American courts routinely hand down harsh sentences to individual convicts, but a very different standard of justice applies to corporations. Too Big to Jail takes readers into a complex, compromised world of backroom deals, for an unprecedented look at what happens when criminal charges are brought against a major company in the United States. Federal prosecutors benefit from expansive statutes that allow an entire firm to be held liable for a crime by a single employee. But when prosecutors target the Goliaths of the corporate world, they find themselves at a huge disadvantage. The government that bailed out corporations considered too economically important to fail also negotiates settlements permitting giant firms to avoid the consequences of criminal convictions. Presenting detailed data from more than a decade of federal cases, Brandon Garrett reveals a pattern of negotiation and settlement in which prosecutors demand admissions of wrongdoing, impose penalties, and require structural reforms. However, those reforms are usually vaguely defined. Many companies pay no criminal fine, and even the biggest blockbuster payments are often greatly reduced. While companies must cooperate in the investigations, high-level employees tend to get off scot-free. The practical reality is that when prosecutors face Hydra-headed corporate defendants prepared to spend hundreds of millions on lawyers, such agreements may be the only way to get any result at all. Too Big to Jail describes concrete ways to improve corporate law enforcement by insisting on more stringent prosecution agreements, ongoing judicial review, and greater transparency.
