This is the absolute best discussion that I've heard coming from Cornel West. I have been listening to Dr. West all across the internet and some discussions were rambling and not pointed and accessible to many people. This was. This is exactly why I intend to vote for Dr. West. While I do not agree with some of his analysis concerning Russia and China, his moral and intellectual prowess are overwhelming and I must acknowledge how much better he is as a potential leader than anything on offer by the two major parties. I'm not worried that a vote for West might be construed as a vote for Trump. It isn't. It's a vote for honesty, for equality, for vision and for change. I cannot throw away what might become the very last free vote on a lesser of two evils like Biden. If I intend to fight for freedom, for democracy and for people like me then I have to stand up for principle. It's West for me if he's on the ballot and I will write his name in if he's not.

Glenn Greenwald wrote of this in a 2018 article on Palestinian-American speech pathologist Bahia Amawi. She, understandably, refused to sign and the Austin, Texas school district fired her. Why do American states REQUIRE American citizens/businesses to sign loyalty oaths to a FOREIGN apartheid state🤔??? How does THAT support the freedom/democracy of Americans???

I like the knowledge of Cornell West when it come to American history. The original draft of the Constitution stated that it would protect private property (you know whose private property) and to look after the interests of the wealthy landowners and slave holders. That did not go over well with the poorer landowners and Shays Rebellion happened in which the private armies of the wealthy beat them back. After the introduction of the Bill of Rights, most people were placated.

Private property rights (and the Gutenberg press) ended the Dark Ages of 1,000 Years, during which the Crown and the Pope owned all property and thought. You were born a serf and died a serf and if you resisted, you were killed along with your extended family. Everything you have today, great or small, comes from private property and free thought. Was only after Mao's horrific reparations and land seizure genocides, that China turned back to private property and mercantilism and money and trade, that saved their nation. All American Presidential hopefuls need to prioritise Tribal Sovereignty and reconfiguring institutions around a healthy system. Massive bribes will confront them anyway. Without a plan in this direction it is hard to believe even the most educated viewpoints. I didn't realise he was a Christian - that's a big red flag - the naughty red. He still seems the most promising but more ought to be demanded. The Colonial Elites appear to entertain hitting the world war button.

Growing up a Catholic and in a time when liberation theology was more popular than today, I recognize the importance of soul in resisting the dehumanizing nature of modern day life and the systems of alienation we try to exist in. Nonetheless, I view the Abrahamic religions as part of the problem. These three main religions fit themselves very well to conquest and genocide. There is all this nonsense about chosen people and promised lands in the scriptures. And then there is the idea that your god is the true god and the rest of the world needs converting to your vision, because they're heathens. Personally, now, I feel spiritual only with nature as the god-ness. I guess being among rocks and plants and animals comes close to what people feel in a church, mosque or synagogue The land is sustenace for my body and mind. There is no duopoly of mind and matter and Nature is not about one dominating another or being better than another, it is about balance.

Thank you for sharing this conversation with Dr West. I wish Dr West could be our next President; we would have a better country if he was.

Oh yea the Green Party has tons of discussions, debates & paperwork. As a firmer Colorado Green Party in Denver; I ran for the House, but one woman & her group came in & took over the chapter. My husband, myself & others left and became independents. I din’t know if she is still there. Of course I would prefer Dr Stein as opposed to Genocide Biden or Trump. But Dr West is my first choice.

Multiple things can be true 🙏🏾 Despite antisemitism being a primarily European ideology others keep getting pinned with the title. Many have legitimate questions about Jewish history and identity as well as an opinion on the claim to Israel. There seems to be no room for the discussion.

I always enjoy listening to Dr. West, a true independent mind of intellect. In the end, however, I prefer capitalism over socialism. Why, because it best reflects human nature. Capitalism is best when tempered by rules allowing those slower in the quest of greed to have decent lives. India, China,, the Soviet Union have all tried socialism with disastrous results because it puts power in the hands of a few good at political organization which results in dictatorship. Capitalism is more like perpetual revolution with power fractured allowing new ideas to flourish. In summary, a lot of socialist in USA live lives of plenty due to capitalism.
