Your argument (a straw-man fallacy) of having a hispanic/black niece and bi-racial family - is irrelevant, and doesn't make you an expert, your argument doesn't give a counter-argument, just hostile tones and ad-hominem attacks against ***** Nobody said anything about leaving other ethinicities in the cold. No stereotypes are used in most of the equality arguments, we can use statistics to show there is inequality, especially in the southern states. IMHO We are all striving for equality, we should be able to acknowledge the areas that are unfair and have civil discussions, not name calling. Bring valid points to the table of ideas, otherwise you just embarrass yourself and you only prove some validities to the argument, at least acknowledge that it is an argument worth having.

The Creature from the Seventh Chamber : Okay, but, what is it you don't agree with him on?? Be specific, please. This cat, Dr. West is a huge intellectual, yet speaks in down to earth lingo style. You really don't have a problem keeping up with issues being discussed; unlike Dr. Eric Tyson ( by the way ' didn't know Dr. West was his mentor). Dr. Dyson speaks in lofty images, sometimes too shrouded in historical analyses before landing on the subject matter; in other words, displaying his intellectual chops for all to know when listening to him. He does this no matter where he's appearing, News Networks, talk shows what ever. It's the only thing I wish he would leave off of. We can read this aspect of his greatness when there is more time to digest the point he's making. Dr. West does the same thing but we are better able to follow the point being made. Tim Wise speaks with the same tone, shall we say, though he could go off on a lofty tangent as well if he wanted to. Not putting him in the same class as these two giants, but, I'm not so sure. These cats have been at it a long, long time. Kudos, and thanks to all three of them.

I moved in 2021 to Queretaro at age 79, and I love this safe, friendly and beautiful city. It is a cool temperature, and earthquakes were my deal breakers for beautiful Acapulco. It is less expensive here, and all utilities are included in my beautifully furnished apartment. rent, and also a maid and security. San Miguel is next door. My concern with his stance on Israel is the same as yours, but everything else is so on point, and his stance doesn't seem well informed or concrete, as he confronts the issue in office, I am hoping he will reach conclusions born out of the sense, empathy, integrity, that he shows in his character. +Lee Lee Lee Me too. Cornel West somehow lost his way. There are people in my area who are white that mortgaged their homes and got conservative republicans in upstate NY to campaign for Obama long before he came popular and did not expect to get tickets to the inauguration. They expected for their efforts that another conservative republican do not get in power and roll back all the social programs that are needed in the poverty stricken conservative areas of upstate NY that are predominantly White. The republicans decided to oppose Obama regardless to make him fail. And Cornell West went after him like a hurt school child knowing the decades of machinery that attack Obama's entire family when he had to thread carefully to serve everyone!

+Maria Teijmul -- MARIA -- You seem upset with Cornel West by the way he has critisiced Obama. I want to tell you I worked hard with other whites to make sure Obama won 8 years ago, but soon after he came into power he began his long haul of breaking his promises, like NOT to hire lobbyists from the banking sector, but his government has been flooded with crooks from Goldman Sachs and has reneaged to many of his promises that had nothing to do with the banana republicans obstruction. I'm sorry to have to tell you politics in the US are not what you seem to think. BOTH PARTIES have been corrupted by the rich bankers and the differences between them are cosmetic, in order to keep a wedge between people to keep us busy while they rob us constantly. However I believe is possible Bernie Sanders is truly an outsider and the CABAL of bankers is not controlling him, and that's why the Democratic Party establishment is openly trying to derail his candidacy. And the same is happening with Trump on the other side, because he's too independent and also they are trying to shut him down. I don't like Trump, but I can see the Banana Republican Party establishment is not being able to control him either. The truth is we need in the US and the world a change to a new paradigm beyond the usual party system. We the people are having to rearrange the political democracy we conduct, with a much bigger emphasis in letting the ROOTS to decide really how politics take place. The idea of expecting one leader, like Obama, do for us what's needed, is NOT working. Roosevelt when asked to do something he answered "make me do it". Challenging his voters to be forcefully visible asking for an specific action they wanted. We have to stop allowing the crooks that we vote in, to change their tune and refuse to do what they had promised. That has to stop, and we should be able to dump any crook who does that, without having to wait 4 years to vote him out. Democracy is in the process of changing in many countries, like Spain people are setting up local committees to self-govern immediate actions.

+etniks " NOT to hire lobbyists from the banking sector." Its a very good thing because lobbyist look for the interest of the rich and wealthy. President Obama cannot change an old capitalist system by himself at all. I am aware of his position and would even be appalled at people for calling George Bush junior stupid. I understand that President Obama had to work within the confines of the law and the constitution. Then he had to get people who would work with him in the party and collaborate on some level with the opposition. He had no one really. So he did what was best for us in pursuing more harmonious international relationships. Since we have waged war on many nations and everywhere we go we mess up the people's society with our violence calling it help when we actually go in for the resources that is our history. I find Cornell West and Tavis Smiley (people who I actually had really liked) disingenuous. I say this because they expected Obama to cherry pick them to have a talk about the state of Black America on a show they planned on having right after Obama took office and because Obama did not show up they waged this war on him. Cornel West because he did not get tickets to the inauguration spoke about his disappointment in not getting tickets. So that toppled with Obama not giving their forum the presidential legitimacy made these two go on the Poverty tour all over America and China. I find them disrespectful with unbridled self control on their self importance. As if poverty in America began in Obama's time or as if a president is responsible for poverty. Capitalism is responsible for poverty and unless we really talk about the acquisition of the wealth of nations and the purpose of having a capitalist system we would know it only favors the wealthy that uses the middle class as a buffer from the poor. Which people who don't know any better feel is better than socialism. Yet we want social programs which is a capitalist nightmare. Cornel West know all of this, he is just a better version of Donald Trump right now. If Obama had indulged him and his vision he would have had a favorable narrative. Since this is his behavior I feel Obama made a damn good choice to not meet them to discuss Black exclusively when as president he must serve all of us. He could talk about the state of Black America all he wants he was astute to know he cannot change the history of America nor the racist minds. He was in a position to do something to help the average American have health care so he did. He tackled the things he could do and not meet to get philosophical, since he had to make things happen in a limited time with unprecedented opposition. He had to be realistic and understand what would work and is doable and what is just talk. These men are just talk and they are especially crude. I can't believe I really used to like him and actually thought he was brilliant and sexy. I am so glad I was able to see his ugly ego.

+Maria Teijmul Why did Obama deepen the war in Afghanistan MORE than did Bush who started the war. Why has he slain tens of thousands with his drone warfare? Did the Republicans make him do that? The repressive Patriot Act was issue on GW Bush's watch. But why did Obama have to sign it into law? He said that he would RESTORE civil liberties curtailed by Bush with the Patriot Act. That's what he said during his campaign. Why then did Obama sign into law these same infringements of civil liberties? Obama could have at least put single payer universal care on he table, but took it off the table before there could even be any national conversation on it. Then Obama compromised away even the public option, leaving us an "Obama care" with corporate domination of health car still there, albeit with minor tinkering reforms. Strange that even MLK and Malcolm in their day weren't considered above criticism in their day, but if someone criticizes Obama now he is supposedly a traitor. Cornel West like Il Duce Don Trump? That statement of yours indicate you little about what EITHER of those men stand for, since Trump is virtually a fascist. I can assure you that Trump, unlike Cornel West, would not have been embraced by young activists here in Baltimore or in Ferguson. Fortunately, they are perceptive enough to distinguish between a progressive Black intellectual and anti-intellectual white fascist.
