    I remember being a little kid around 2013 and 2014 when I first started watching videos of the FRS on youtube and I instantly fell in love. Seeing articles and videos almost daily and having them as my wallpapers. The FRS or 86 has been my dream car for the longest time. Usually I get made fun of when I say that but people just dont understand that it wasnt always about hp. I love the looks, how it is so driver focused, the sounds, the highly tunable engine, and the huge aftermarket suport for it. I'll always want a first gen and I will own it one day. I wasnt a huge fan of the second gen but its growing on me and I think it is a fitting replacement. Like I said though the first gen has had a special place in my heart since I was a little kid. ❤

Therefore, I'm commenting here and liking your video so that the algorithm helps it to be promoted around KZread as much as it can. Well made and informative video! I've just started getting into cars the past couple of years and it feels like I'm a bit late to the game. As you guys pointed out, the car scene is likely going to be very different within 10 or so years. I want to keep my current car for as long as I can (reliable, good on gas, paid off, etc.), but I'm also quite smitten with the GR86 and feel like I could miss my chance if I don't try to get one (or a similar car) soon.

    Despite what the "purists" claim...the GR86 objectively needs more power. The original 86 was so great because it handled well AND was decently quick for the time. Toyota should have left the mk5 Supra with only the 3.0 turbo, and added a more powerful 86 to fill the gap between the base 86, and the Supra. Toyota shot the 86 in the foot with the 2.0 Supra (that no one wants...because who really wants a slow Supra?).

  • @itsme-rd9ib

    Yeah, the 2.0 Supra was an odd decision. But I guess it's important to remember that even the mk4 had an n/a model. But like you pointed out...no one really wanted, or remembers, that one.

  • @shabs2134

    @shabs2134

    The power difference between the GR86 and the 2.0 Supra is not as big as you think. Toyota are purposefully trying to undercut the power of the GR86 to try and prevent it from competing with the Supra. Independent testers have confirmed that the GR86 has around 250 bhp compared to the 228 bhp which Toyota is claiming. And that is perfect.
