Great video! I’m tired of people thinking New Age stuff if the same as occultism or mysticism and I wish finding books and information about real occult or mystic topics was easier instead of finding new age stuff at every single “spiritual” section of a book store

I kind of feel like new age is an appropriation of a mass number of different spiritual practices, yet doesn’t really understand any of them nor practice any of them correctly lol.

I once met a Witch who jokingly said: "I don't practice the New Age, I practice the Old Age". 😉

“New age” is incredibly broad and also vague. I think of it more as a placeholder for people who want a spiritual belief system but have been burned by traditional religious orthodoxies. Good summary here, which can be hard because the subject is so vague

Sometimes I feel that trying to reconcile both resisting the temptation of elitism and just noticing the obvious fails of New Age is a hell of an ordeal!! I think the lack of emphasis on practice you pointed out sums it up perfectly... Anyway, love & light to you, Georgina!! 😅

I came into witchcraft a year or two before New Age belief became popular, I didn't practice much of it but it was/is hard to get away from it since it was so close to when I started. Within the past 2 years I have been contemplating on those teachings, why this, why that, where did this come from etc. I have come to the conclusion on some practices having more depth and history and I am slowly collecting the info and hopefully writing a beginner book. It will be hard because I do have some comprehension issues but I'm hoping for the best and trying my best!

New age is watered down and distorted, essentially commercialized you would have to go through a series of initiation’s before every obtaining any super power.

New Age and a lot of Wicca is extremely fluffy.

I guess the only reason I ever even heard about all of these philosophical religions is because of “conspiracy theorists” like (David Icke , Michael Tsarion and Jordan Maxwell) to name a few. It all goes back to that and also musicians from the underground hip hop culture “the lost children of Babylon, Beast 1333, Payday Monsanto, and many many more..but I’m very happy to have found these subjects because they are very empowering and educational 😅 like our host 😅

just practice awareness, a point will eventually be reached when you're aware no matter what state your within. then ritual and religion become pointless. meditation and ecstatic practices have and always will be the one key.

I've only used crystals successfully twice. It was a time where I was renovating my room and for about two weeks I consciously decided to stay away from most electronics. Then I finished putting back my belongings including my gaming rig and then felt electricmagnetic waves, I couldn't sleep. Then I grabbed this black tourmaline my mother had by the front door and actually held onto it kind of used it like a limpia on myself and held onto it meditating and realized I could no longer feel the waves. I was able to do it another time a couple of weeks later and that was it. Working with Crystals are not easy. I also think my body is once again used to the EM waves. >_>

Yeah, most black stones are used for grounding and for removing negative energies. I still see some values in new agey stuff 😅. And for me personally, learning the right way to utilize the teachings from the law attraction, can improve or enhance your skills or abilities for occultism, magick imo

Occultists have been using rocks for thousands of years. The New Age pinched that from history and mixed it with other stuff.

Early Theosophy with texts such as "Isis Unveiled" was Western orientated, whilst her "The Secret Doctrine" was much more Eastern oriented, there was even a sub-movement within Theosophy against the this orientation, the Esoteric Section. A much better book I feel about the Occult Revival, is "Eliphas Levi & the French Occult Revival" by Christopher McIntosh, or Tobias Churton's book "Occult Paris the Lost Magic of the Belle Epoque", whilst not as exciting as Grant's book they're probably more accurate, with certainly less gematria.

Hey I'm an anthropologist pagan with perennial tendencies. Currently I am studying gemstones and their planatary correspondences. These correspondences are different cross culturally and I'm not sure what to use. Do I use the vedic or the western magick system. I am not keen on abrahamic magick and will avoid it, but I'm looking for pre Christian practices i can do. Anyway when it comes to gemstones I don't know how objective or subjective these correspondences are.
