My teacher always say the most important word was why, to find what you really want to do in life ask why. He had a very non spiritual view of this but our wants are not really free will, they are based on commercials, our upbringing all the things around us, ask why. So you want a really cool looking new car why? Perhaps it is because you want more beauty in your life then perhaps adding beautiful plants to your home will reach that goal better than a new car, but continue to ask why, why do you want beauty. Continue asking why until you reach a block, then do spiritual work to get that but come back to it and then ask why again until you get to the core.

There are sooooo many paths to magick/manifestation. Personal beliefs are just that, personal. There is no right or wrong path IMO. Do what you want, I'm not arguing with anyone. The simplest recipe to magick/manifestation(not to play down ritual) is "Thoughts become ideas, Ideas become beliefs, beliefs become reality." Again you can go about it in so many ways to make your idea a belief but to simplify it at its core, I feel this is the best understanding for someone new to any path. Again this is just my opinion, take it or leave it.

'Morphic resonance' is nonsense and Rupert Sheldrake is a wizened woo-woo pusher.

I did a series of trance journey work visiting Odin and Freyja to get magical theory. According to Odin it comes down to resonance and authority. Indeed you can look an any list of "laws of magick" and see that they can all be broken up into categories of "resonance" (Law of correspondence), or "Authority" (invoking deities to get the authority to get the job bone).

I use those concepts constantly in my practice. I rarely do rituals, but I magically interact with the world almost every day, either by projecting energy and making other beings (including inanimate ones) resonate and vibrate, so I can "hear" their energy, or by emitting some energy to bounce on them, and "greet" them this way. Authority is a different concept. Authority can be claimed even if you don't have the right, and it will have effect until it's challenged. In magic, you can claim authority, not only using the gods but your own will, but be careful with who you are fighting for that authority, because you'll need to have a stronger will than theirs. In my case, I usually claim authority to protect myself from the elements or to bless others.

If you haven't read it yet, I think you'd like Proclus' "On Sacrifice and Magic". It's a very short primer on how magic works in a neoplatonic framework - that is, mostly Sympathy from a quasi-stoic perspective. It's really great.

Hi! I was just wondering, what are some things I should watch out for if I'm going to teach junior level high school kids magic? For context I'm teaching in a foreign country outside the US as a volunteer and i was being asked by the students because they somehow picked up that I knew a thing or two about magic, but it's been years since I studied magic and did Tarot readings. I'm a bit rusty. I am a teacher and do teach other subjects but never magic this time around. So I kind of don't know where to start. So i figured thd points in this video is good enough? Very thorough answer! I personally come from more of an Indo-Tibetan practice and the mechanism I associate with magic is karma. The word “karma” literally means “action” but it’s far less personal than “do good things, good things happen”. (who knows what’s good anyway?). Rather, it’s more like a narrative or spiritual momentum - momentum which can be directed through conscious action (ie magic). That said, spiritual liberation is not the accumulation of holier and holier karma; it’s having no karma whatsoever. “Becoming nobody” as Ram Dass would put it.

Crowley's definition is bad. It includes moving your limbs to push or carry something, which isn't magic. A better definition of magic is that it is the use of occult correspondences to effect change.

Crowley’s definition should be understood within the context of Thelema. Thelemic magick is not just ceremonial magick but with different god-names. Crowley uses magick to describe the fundamental process which forms reality, that is the constant union of subject and object, Hadit and Nuit. The point of magick as it’s regularly understood then once one understands the metaphysics that grounds the practice is to create an ecstatic union with God in the practitioner. To understand that they are Hadit and that every moment is a coupling with his beloved Nuit and therefore should be accepted unconditionally. To have will be in perfect accordance with change, or love under will

Crowley was more up to date than most of us by including any act as even moving a finger in terms of exactly how it's done neurologically is entirely miraculous and equally completely esoteric knowledge to most of us. Magick is the use of occult practices in order to enhance and/or direct your psychic energy towards a specific goal. Being in a heightened state of emotion is when ones mind is at its most powerful. Goals ought to be realistic. Magick is for material gain such as gaining money, winning a lover, soliciting sex, healing a loved one, rewarding a loved one, killing an enemy, etc, not spiritual purposes like contacting gods, ancestors, etc. Purely spiritual pursuits are the realm of mysticism not magick. It ought to be used in conjuntion with other more grounded or earthly efforts to achieve one's goal(s). Magick is amoral. It is neither "white" nor "black" however it can be dangerous & ought to be treated carefully. Cursing an enemy is akin using a gun. Be fully competent & very careful before you do so.

I propose that magick is the creation, expression, and interpretation (unpacking) of language. Intentionality becomes manifest through language (understood at its most general level, as the grammatical configuration of symbols, sensations, states of being, etc.). This is simply my POV. But I think that looking at magick from the perspective of language helps clarify what's going on. If the structure of any physical system is understood as an expression in a language, the language being the grammatical rules that define that system, it makes sense that magick is the manipulation of this system by using the rules/grammar to enact will. I'm happy to hear other opinions on the matter, of course. Cool video. ✌️🫶🦐
