The design is very clean. The Geo-Filter is quite the touch, along with it's added features. Steady Ping is a feature that many gamers are going to love. I cannot stress this enough. @@Semperf11 Yes. Their smart boost should help with packet burst. Study ping will stabilize your ping in game. The geofilter will allow you to pick the best servers for the games you play.

This router I might actually get right now I have the Netgear Duma OS 3.0 router it's good but it doesn't have the smart boost technology because it has netduma 3.0 I have the xr1000 I might actually change the router I'm planning on getting this router it's at least $200 ​@@Semperf11

I have a PS5 my gaming experience is a little off, wire connection and 500mb, I'm never in English speaking servers, always French Spanish German when playing COD, my Fifa experience is always a mess each game feels different. I'm just using my ISP standard router, will this help? I think choosing what servers I connect to will help? Any help would be great thank you.

Can you do a bufferbloat test please?

Would the R3 be worth it for someone who isn't super concerned with the geofiltering capabilities and is more so looking for something that's going to help with reducing bufferbloat and just the general delay I feel in games? I'm using an XR500 right now which I've noticed is definitely better than my ISP router but it's still super inconsistent in the sense that I can go days or even 1 - 2 weeks of smooth gameplay and then go for a similar stretch of time where it feels horrible without anything being changed. I have good internet on paper (1GBPS fibre up and down) but I live in a household of 5 people with a good number of devices so I'm sure that plays a factor. Is the R3 worth it or is there a better alternative for what I'd be looking for?

The R3 handles QOS without any hassle. I've retired my XR500 & R2.

The R3 does a better job at quality of service overall because you don't have to worry about it. Everything has been set up for you. Although if you like tinkering and messing around those options are there as well.

On a game like modern warfare 3, where matchmaking has many factors, and also disbanding lobbies.. would the Geo filter still work? I know it wouldnt remove sbmm, but do you think it would mitigate it?

The Geo filter works great at making sure the lobbies you connect to don't have lag. That being said you will tend to do better so every now and again you'll have to deal with a crazy sbmm lobby. When that happens I just take it easy.

I really need to get this. I've been having problems with my NetGear NightHawk XR1000. Do you also have a Modem recommendation cause I am currently using the NightHawk CM1200, or should it be fine?

I bought it and suddenly my ingame ping went from 22 to 50 and i absolutely lagg, the router tells me on the other hand 20ms. I just dont jnderstand what i did wrong or if its just broken.

In game ping will be higher because Steady Ping is increasing it to get rid of jitter. Use the geofilter to find the best servers and make sure gaming is prioritized along with your device. If study being stabilizes you should be golden. Some servers have trouble stabilizing like Oklahoma. Also stay away from Chicago. I'm working diligently to get videos out that explain all of these things cuz there's lots of questions right now.

have they fixed the DHCP leasing issue? i know my xr500 was plagued with it, was hoping it was fixed in the R3!! Solid video man, looking forward to the setup video

@@duhfuhfh96 there isn't one. The XR routers had issues with DHCP for some people a while ago. The R3 doesn't have this issue & never has.

I wish I could test one like you did. I typically have a ping of about 6-9ms currently and I really don't know that I could improve on that much. So, to me, the only benefit would be to force whatever server is best for me. In your opinion, what are the odds something like this could lower my ping any more, or enhance my gaming experience? $250-$200 just to choose servers doesn't seem worth it in my scenario.

I am playing COD I have R2 it doesn't fix the problem in SBMM & Shitty Netcode processes I tried tons of solutions and tried the with no advantage only u can benefit from having this router is the suitable ping and QOS system otherwise don't bother urself, I haven't tried VPN yet do u think it helps

IPv6 works for me on all devices. Last time I checked games still don't use IPv6 on Xbox. There might be a couple of games but the vast majority is still use ipv4.

So what exactly is a netduma? Is it basically like its own router? Like the one I have from Xfinity? Or is it like a Wi-Fi extender? This is all new to me I just want to get a better understanding.

You most likely have a router modem combo. It'll get you connected to the internet but isn't much fancier than that. Netduma is a router that allows you to control games. So that you don't lag when you play online. You would take your current modem/router and put it into a different mode that would just bypass all the traffic to the R3 router.

*please do a buffer bloat test with the R3 , try first on wi-fi then second on a wire and let's see the difference,I hope this version of netduma will give us good results because I don't wanna waste my money on wi-fi 7 routers especially most of them doesn't have SQM feature that helps us to get rid from the buffer bloat, thanks anyways and good luck*

It already works on the R2 bud you just have to resync device manager and have latest pub firmware and you'll still have to tweak settings if you want 0 buffer on qos

Buffer bloat is not an issue with the R3. Wired or wireless.

So imbgonna watch the setup vid first but so far my nighthawk xr1000 is out preforming this new r3

Nice review, I also own a r1 and r2 and pre ordered the r3, to bad they didnt put better hardware to support up to 5gig internet connections and it still only supports up to 1gig internet bandwidth (i currently have 2gig frontier and would upgrade to 5gig if the duma hardware would support it) Looks like its only catering to WiFi upgrades. Not much difference for hardware over the r2 correct me if im wrong.

Not shocked there isn't a reply. I switched from NetDuma to the ROG Rapture AX11000 and the difference is night and day. Rarely have any issue with the router whereas I had issues with NetDuma all the time. Do some research before you get the new NetDuma.

What was your question I've had hundreds of comments in the last 24 hours and I've done my best to reply to all of them but I must have missed yours. The R3 has been completely redesigned from the ground up all of the problems with the quality of service are now fixed you don't have to do anything with it. I also own a udm pro which spec wise absolutely smashes the R3. However I'm now using the R3 as my main router because the new quality of service system is really that good. The Geo filter has been fixed to now work with games that stopped working a couple years ago such as Halo.

can i choose which server i would like to connect to ? and then geo fence so that it restricts the search to only the server i am connected to ?

Yes the Geo filter allows you to choose the server you want to connect to. Or choose area for games that don't have servers.

You can use the ping heat map to find the lowest ping servers for the games you play. Then use the geofilter to mark out those servers to play on.

Yes. Unlike the xr1000 where you have to adjust everything constantly with the R3 you set it and forget it.

@Axxxel_in_Harlem The R3 is very capable and will allow you to get full bandwidth when you need it. The system recognizes the bandwidth you have and then adjust everything automatically. Of course you have options you can dig into and I will be going into those in the setup video.

@@LowPingKing no it’s literally just my ps5 caus of poor isp routing issues with BT and it’s shitty netcode. Especially with games like COD and FC 24 and their lag compensation, vpn bypasses this and makes matchmaking more connection based rather than skill based against a German lol

@@birthofmachd1019 Ping for every game is much more stable now because of the R3s new features. On Chicago servers MW3 I was getting 40 ms with the R2 but now I'm down to 25 Ms with the R3.

I would never use a NetDuma router again. They are trash. The answer is 22ms on average for me. With a NetDuma, I was hovering around 35-50ms on average. The answer shouldn't be "it depends on the game" because you should be able to know the average connection to game you're playing if it's server based (not PvP). Just do some research on their forums to see how many people have issues actually getting them to work. Anyone who knows the game they're playing should be able to tell you their average connection with ease and not "it really depends on the game."

They said this about the xr1000 and it’s the worst router. Duma OS is just keeps breaking.

How does this fix SBMM tho? Suerly I will still get the same sequence of games. I go from a 15 to 25 ping and killing average 25/40 kills. Next game 30/50 ping and I can't kill any body. I go to around 5/10 kills. Whrn I get into the zone the only thing that should fuck me is connection. This isn't the case, I fell the games fighting against me after a few games where I'm like neo.

Nothing fixes SBMM! What it will do is ensure that you stay in those low ping servers. Making the experience smoother and more enjoyable overall.
