It sure is nice too that Altera programed the AI to not launch the rocket if you haven’t deactivated the weapons platform, just in case you forgot. I’m not sure how they figured out the defense system in the first place, but it sure is convenient

Yeah well I mean the seemingly highly intelligent PDA we use is aware of pretty much everything we encounter on the planet whereas alterra isn't yet. So it makes sense.

You know, I never thought about how involved the player has to be in creating all this crazy technology. I kind of thought the computer did most of the heavy lifting. Great video as always man!

Not to forget the most important feature, the Cave Crawler lure, which is so strong that it makes Cave Crawlers able to jump from the ocean floor up to the platform although they aren't even able to swin. Paired with advanced virus cultures this would hypothetically make the Neptune Rocket a perfect long range biological weapon of mass destruction. But of course something like that would never really happen.

I was so sad that I needed to leave the cuddlefish behind that I never finished the game. The rocket sits nearly constructed because I can’t bear to leave it behind.

props to whoever threw together a damn good rocket design in probably just a handful of days.

Saw one of your videos and immediately subscribed. Incredible really to see a smaller channel (by todays youtube standarts anyways 5k is quite a lot tho still) make such high quality videos that are fun to watch while still giving you all the information you need. I have no clue how it's possible to talk about a topic in a serious way while at the same time also making a random joke that perfectly fits whatever you're talking about. I really don't care if it takes a while for a video to come out if this is what can be expected (and from what I've seen it can be) truly incredible!

I finally have some time to see this video and as always, its amazing, you put so much effort in your videos!

The Neptune rocket is equipped with several large lockers for the sim feel because let's be honest there's literally no reason for that storage to exist

Should be a requirement to fill those lockers with food and water

I only have one problem with the Neptune, which is after the first time building the rocket it just feels like a massive chore. On the first play though it feels exciting but everywhere after that it just feels like an unnecessary grind

I can build more than one rocket with the amount of hoarding I always do in my cyclops

One thing of note, make sure to make the platform a bit further from your base if your base is near the water surface The shadow it cast down kinda suck

I just built one in ksp 1 works great mine has cryo stasis and no shield.

I can't remember but wasn't it emailed to the Captain's Quarters or did you need the access codes from the Captain's Quarters in order to open the blueprints sent to you?

Also, didn't the Aurora AI say the player is the Captain once they made planetfall, so if the blueprints were sent, it'd go to the current Captain of the ship... so it was specifically but not specifically meant for the player.

I wish we got to pilot the Neptune like other vehicles. Maybe make some trips to that red planet before we are able to go home

It looks like R2-D2 on steroids in the title

They couldn't let us build underwater due to the nature of the ending sequence. The bubble they put around the ship to play you the animation depends on starting with open sky. The player sits facing their sky and then the birds and the shaking and noise hides the transition to a sky that isnt really the players true sky anymore. If the rocket was under the surface then every player would need a unique transition for their depth and location. They'd need to move the ship.

Ah yes, gotta love how Alterra used an alien power source they didn’t even know existed on their escape rocket. We love Alterra

One of the main reasons how you need ion powdrcells to power the rocket when it is unknown to alterra that these exists, is due to the pda scanning for available power sources and resources available on the planet to survive.

Fun fact, the rocket cutscene takes place only on the view screens. The rocket never leaves the platform. I knowthis because i had a seadragon clip through the side of the rocket during the cutscence.

anyone else find it suspicious they had the neptune design ready as it was received during the crash just before loss of communication and the fact they knew partly about the gun they must have known more about the digasi then they let one

The Cuddlefish, like other animals, tend to run from loud noises and the heat would have scared it off. Or, y’know, you could have simply told it to wait somewhere else before coming back to the area

If you ever need more energy remember peepers are expendable

With how many discoveries the character would've made on 4546b, I'm sure they would've writen of if not even a promosion

I like to think that Alterra waived it when Riley threatened to turn the QEP back on if he was forced to return to 4546b

I wish we could see través of the rockets design being for multiple people, as designing a Rocket for only one person isn’t really an Alterra thing to do. Especially considering that the life pods are kind of trash. I also wonder if the Shield generator on board would be able to take one shot from the QEP.

Considering that the Aurora couldn't take a shot from the QEP, and the "shield generator" is just a cyclops module refitted I don't think it could.

I mean, it was designed from the ground up specifically for YOUR escape. Why build a rocket to hold multiple people when only one person is ever going to use it?

It probably wasnt a huge investment to design. So they just threw it in a computer on the aurora and said “Hey. If you can manage to build a whole ass rocket, you get to come home! No cost to us.”

No mention of how you even get this rocket blueprint? The Aurora black box data or the radio transmission that leads you to it, voiced by Appsro and Neebs of Neebs Gaming? I almost feel like you left that out on purpose, despite it being a huge part of the Neptune escape rocket's whole story. You had plenty of time between Pengling puns to mention where the damn thing even comes from

Just one thing though, why would the designers of the Neptune include alien technology no one in Alterra knew existed as the power source?

not really they probably saved him just for the info he couldev gathered since imagine what he had to go trought to get such advanced materials
