The Mummy RETURNS - Caravan Of Garbage
Ойын-сауық
Hot off the heels of our review of The Mummy 1999 comes a look at the sequel, The Mummy Returns from 2001. With the returning cast including Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz plus the inclusion of Dwayne "The rock" Johnson in his first movie role. It's bigger in so many ways but also not as good in other ways. This is our Caravan Of Garbage review.

The guy with the gooey hand is an actor called Alun Armstrong. He went to school with my dad - they did drama together. This means I am two degrees of separation from the Rock and from Rachel Weiz's eyebrows.

Actually he catches the knife close to his head and merely extends his arm out to show the audience that he has the knife as if to take the speed out of it. A mixture of slight of hand and storytelling.

Yeah, like he caught it close, but the momentum of the knife while thrown and then caught carried his arm back. That was my interpretation of it as well.

I'd agree with all of you guys if the camera didn't cut to him so late. The camera "catches" Frasier as his arm is fully extended, so it looks like he just caught it behind his head (which would honestly be more impressive but also less thrilling, and a lot more funny).

Thread Bomb yea I think they are too. I’m a little worried about them doing an actual daredevil movie rather than just continuing the series though because since it will be in the mcu it’s gonna have to be a lot different. I’m hoping it won’t be too watered down cus were so used to a very mature rated R version of daredevil that is way more brutal than anything we’ve ever seen in the mcu.
I'm so glad you highlighted when Imhotep slides in to shout "No!" after Rick stabs the Scorpion King. XD It's one of my favourite moments in film because of the timing and how random it is haha. Despite its issues and rehashed elements, I still enjoy this film especially for the epic music from Alan Silvestri. Me and my sister used to watch this on VHS a lot.
i kinda figured when he caught the knife it was right in front of him and the momentum swung his arm back
Fun Fact: It was during the making of this film that The Rock secretly stole all of Brendan Fraser's box office attractiveness. Trading places and slowly rising to the top with hit movies, which led to Brendan Fraser's downfall :(

Ben the editor is a hero. Also, Rick O'Connell's knife catch thing, he catches it in the position you'd expect for a brief second, but he's absorbing the momentum of the throw...so yeah, I think that catch was accurate
I’m gonna have to be that guy when I say this, I have nothing against the Scorpion King’s centaur form’s overall design. I like the whole concept behind it, with the corrupted veins, claws, etc. I’m a big fan of that idea on paper and as fan-made work that you see on the Internet. But, it was poorly rendered in the film. It looks like it was rushed. If ILM had more time actually animating it and rendering it, then it would’ve looked so much better.
@AnonEyeMouse
4 жыл бұрын
It WAS rushed. It was supposed to be The Rock as he is in the first section of the movie, just with some scarred and withered skin on one side. However, Dwayne Johnson's performance was so utterly horrible and his physical performance looked like wrestling (surprise surprise) rather than a fight to the death that they rushed in a CGI team to get him out of the final scene.

I can’t believe this was The Rocks first movie
Evelyn being a reincarnation is actually an element from the original Mummy from 1932 that they didn’t include in the 1999 remake. In the original, her equivalent was the reincarnation of Anck Su Namun. That’s why Imhotep wanted to sacrifice her. That makes no sense in the 1999 version because they don’t have that connection and he probably could’ve sacrificed anyone to resurrect Anck Su Namun, so why did it have to be her?
That "NOOO!" moment was my absolute favorite scene. Saw it in the theater, laughed harder than I had in my life.

Rachel Weiss trained for five months and she's been training ever since just for her Black Widow audition she didn't know she was going to try out for.
I'll give this movie the benefit that the kid wasn't just an addition who stood there or mostly wasn't even on screen, like Blues Brothers 2000. I actually like how everyone gets a destiny in this movie and thought it was very funny. I liked as much as the 1st, maybe even a little more. Yeah the ending doesn't look great and the Mummy coming to yell "Noooo" after the Rock is stabbed is cheesy.....but I love the cheese and camp, I cant get enough of it. The campy over the top star crosses love the heroes have, the campy swindling brother who keeps getting himself into trouble and is trying to get the big diamond at the risk of his life at the end.
I'd like to point out, that even though the Scorpion king doesnt look great everything around him does. No green screen., Huge real set, real fire burst, real smoke/steam bursts. Lots of effort on screen.

But in the end, they are nobodies in the industry. One thing is to have normal folk talking randomly about pop culture (like in this channel and many others), another is to have a professional point of view. If I want to hear about special effects, then at least bring me people from weta digital, pixar, etc this reminded me that redhead guy, Stuckman or something like that, he criticizes movie writing and etc..
