There's quite a lot of comments about "why would you 'curse' a criminal with superpowers?" Why would you risk him coming back with nasty superpowers? I imagine the ancients Egyptians thought their society, culture and magic would last forever. No one expects their society to be forgotten in the sands of time. In the beginning of the movie, it is explained that this curse was terrible and terrifying to the populace. The curse wasn't about punishing Imhotep; it was about punishing anyone who attempted to resurrect him. If you tried to revive him, he would eat your organs, suck you dry, then wreck havoc on your loved ones and home by raining the ten plagues upon them all. Your name would be cursed forever by your own people. You would never have the death rites performed upon you, and would never be allowed into the Ancient Egyptian equivalent of paradise. It was about making it so scary that no one would attempt to resurrect him, and he would be forever trapped in the underworld. Otherwise, there may have been a risk that any last surviving priests that were loyal to him may have attempted to raise him up.

@@ming45612 however, it was a different book that removed his immortality. So if you atempted to resurrect him, you would first have to steal the book of life, and the book of the dead, then sneak past the maji to his tomb. This too would be a great heist movie. The Egyptian job?

There is a lot more wrong "The Mumny" movie! First thing I noticed not one black person, not even an extra! The plauges the pharaoh was causing were not possuble! The plauges were unleashed against the pharaoh by God, because he would not release the Israelites from bondage after Moses warned him several times! He was stupid and refused to listen! So God punished him! The whole movie was just fictional entertainment! But, the narrator in this video never mentioned it at all! The pharoh didn't have any supernatural powers! In this world or in their so-called afterlife. They worshiped idols and fake Gods! The Mummy is so sacrligeous and phony!
@michaelhowell2326

@@cpman1987 it wasn't supposed to be a documentary. And God hardened the heart of the Pharoah for no other reason than to rain plagues down upon them. It should so be mentioned that while the Pharoah didn't have any recorded powers, his priests did. The had a magical throw down with Moses using snakes. Basically the entire Bible is fictional entertainment.

@@tessdurberville711 yes but the director of the third movie was not a fan of the first two and wanted to make a whole new movie separate from them. The only reason Brenden fraser and John hannah came back is because they were contractually obligated and Rachel weisz did not come because she had just given birth to her boy and the script was not that good , she would have came back if Steven sommer was directing but he was also committed to Van helsing so thats that. I don't hate it per say but compared to the first two it is not that good and does not follow continuity that much . The Idea is interesting there are mummies in china but tomb of the dragon emperor does not sound like a mummy movie but rather a good spinoff like The Scorpion King the one with Dwyane Johnson , if they make the movie a pretty good game and say that it is somewhere after the original two then I might accept that but other than that it is not the best movie in the trilogy my favourite is the first and then the second but the third is "Eh" in my heart.
