The Mouse That Roared is a weird Cold-War satire that probably influenced Stanley Kubrick and the Monty Python troupe. It stars Peter Sellers in three different roles.

I LOVE this movie. The concept is clever, the comedy is gold and Peter Sellers nails every role. Very enjoyable wacky entertainment that deserves more recognition.

Glad you enjoyed it. I hadn’t thought about the parallel to Strangelove, despite the Sellers connection. He’d been in a long-running radio comedy, ‘the Goon Show’ before his movie career, and that was definitely an influence on Monty Python (as well as the Beatles). Being very silly about very serious things, especially the class-system, monarchy, and militarism, are all in that comic tradition. Ultimately I think a bit more warm-hearted then Kubrick. The end of the world is certainly possible, but not inevitable, and no matter what our political ideologies or national quirks, we’re all a bit ridiculous.

radio comedy? I should look that up -- always seems like his humor depends so much on his face.

Such a glorious non-sequitur. Sellers at his very finest.

A distant echo of ‘Passport to Pimlico’, of course. Peter Sellers playing Queen Victoria played by Margaret Rutherford. Of course, Kubrick was a big, big Anglophile, so would have certainly loved this movie.

The sequel Mouse on the Moon is good too, about the space race. Peter Sellers has moved on by then and Margaret Rutherford had taken over as the Duchess. Jean seberg was very beautiful and luminous but was driven to suicide by the FBI (if I remember rightly). Thanks for telling people about this film 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Classic Sellers.. he was really a oddball, but still a genius on the screen. I absolutely adore the role of cluesou, everything is played to perfection.

I feel that the rôle of Tully is a pretty close approximation of Seller’s rather downbeat personality.

Great movie! Very funny and entertaining. I intend to read the book that inspired the movie. Peter Sellers was a genius. Vittorio De Sica's - "After the Fox" is another great example of his wacky gallery of characters. I think Jerry Lewis (check out - "The Family Jewels") derived a great deal of inspiration from Sellers.Thank u for the video. God bless.

So I watched the "sequel" and I must say it doesn't really feel like a sequel more like an alternate story. The actors are different, and the take on the situation is also different, but I enjoyed _The Mouse on the Moon_ about as much as I enjoyed this film. You just need to watch it with the idea of it being entirely seperate movie made entirely by different people instead of continuation.

Maybe you should have said some words about the director Jack Arnold, who was an interesting guy. Mostly known for monster movie classics like Creature from the Black Lagoon and Tarantula.
