Open Book: Reina “Boots” Parker

Фильм және анимация

Terrorism doesn't come from healthy people. It comes from people who... cannot relate to humanity."
Our first book is Reina "Boots" Parker from Sioux Falls, SD. Boots joined a hate group because she says, "I was a broken beast. All of my empathy was destroyed by the way I was treated and I became dangerous."
Listen and learn why Boots, who grew up as a Jehovah's Witness, joined the National Socialist Movement, and learn about how those experiences have changed her.

Nya:wëh Over 5 hears since this was posted, and only one comment. Boots, I hope you are well. Nya:wëh means "Thank You" in the local language here. I don't know many words that aren't English, because "reasons." I think that people shame one another usually because of fear. What if there was nothing to be afraid of in the first place? Really, I can't believe in over 5 years, no one has even said, "Thank you for taking the time to tell about your journey," as painful as it's been. I believe there are several other members of my (elder) family that have endured the same pesicution, but just learned to be fake - and profess their hatred for anything "The Church" "tells them" to hate. I am a white appearing, half "Indian" male that is heterosexual, monogomous by nature, and who does not participate in "Organized religion," and for whatever reason, I have been openly hated on as well. I have also been subjected to in-appropriate "care." So, we're pretry much the same, alrhough most would be confused as to how that could even be possible. That's actually sort of funny, were it not such a serious subject. Boots, thank you for layong the facts on the table. I'm sure this has helpped many who are simple AFRAID to say "Thank You," or much of anything else. I simply coukd not - NOT comment. Much worse than hating someone, is being completely indifferent to them. Some people feel that, they'd rather be hated than ignored, because, if they are hated, at least people are treating them like they exist. To heck with hate, Boots. Love wins. I hope you see my comment, though I think, maybe you won't. If you DO, however, I hope you find my words helpful - because we all need to be acknowledged as "good, important, useful people," just the way we are. I pray that peace and safety always be with you. Most of all, thank you for spending time to give this brief overview of where you've been, and where you are going. I believe it to be "good medicine" for many - not just "a certain type of person."

Pilamaye is the Lakota word for thank you. I thank you for your kindness. I went through my legal name change back in 2020 before the world shut down for COVID and I know longer carry that burden of my blood legacy. My name is an honorific of my Oglala name and I'm proud of it. I also came out as Nonbinary shortly after this video was published so the pronouns are as outdated as my dead name. I don't go back to this video often, only to share it with others, in hope that they can use it to face their own demons and do better, be better and to expose the damage of cults. I have continued to evolve into the person I wish to be and am happy. Nothing gets better if we are not accountable for ourselves. I hope you are well, and thank you again, for your kind words.
