I agree, people that like to gossip really can't be trusted. If they are talking bad about others and spreading bad things about others....what do you think they will do when they find out about you?? Spread your business and then be fake in your face like that's not what they are doing. Trust takes time to build and is based upon consistent action.... the facial features thing kind of through me for a loop. No one looks trustworthy, but in my opinion they have to act trustworthy.

I see that trust has been missing in my life. It feels good to hear about how trust is what is important in relationships and that it is something the can be re-engendered when it is lacking.

You're not alone and the few that do have it are anomalies but that's not our natural state because we wouldn't have been able to do all we've done to get to where we are today otherwise it's just lost but we had it before and we can have it again once we fix our inverted priorities and declutter our counterproductive distracted lives and focus on what's important and what's productive and that would be the antithesis of what we now have

Trust , respect and loyalty .. without we have these elements , we have nothing .... sadly when we do not deliver this .. we can lose people. Thank you for presenting .

Trust is that noblest of qualities that all are born with, few succeed in maintaining it, some aspire to gain it, and most conspire to abuse it. Don't give away your trust to anyone that asks, if you know its worth and value. And if you don't know its value yet, look back in your life and see how much trusting the wrong people has cost you, or cost them.

Trust is NOT inborn! Children learn it in the first months and years - or learn the opposite.

Everyone can be trusted up to a limit. The acceptable limit is the big debate.

No, you cannot trust everyone. We already know, that trust is necessary for relationships, but people need to be careful, too.

Trust builds with time and being in different situation with that person.

Soothing voice. I could listen to her all day.

Trust is very important within relationships. I used to trust automatically, naturally until a person showed me that I couldn't trust them any longer. I have since changed. I also have learned that with some people you can overall trust them, but there will come a time where you know or realize that this same person can't be trusted in certain situations. I wish that I was my same old self, trusting automatically until a person teach me to distrust. It was easier for me then. To distrust automatically goes against my natural grain whenever I meet new people and I am uncomfortable, and it shows.

Matthew mcConaughey once said “ trust them until they cross the line. That way you can be 100% yourself” You ever just wait sooo long until you can trust someone and for that period of time you wasn’t really yourself. just a suggestion but I think the meaning of trust lacks context.

There is a saying, 'give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves'. This is proven to me to be true again and again. It's only a matter of time and people will show their true colours. I've yet to be surprised by anyone not proving this saying to be 100% accurate in any given situation, especially in romantic relationships.

I got a job and in the first week my boss heard me saying something about a jacket i wanted, a week later he called me in and gave me a 2nd hand jacket (the one i dreamed about owning) i wanted worth £200 (in 1988s prices) if bought new,....anyway i found a card with a name on an, appointment saying call me fiona and £300 in notes in another pocket. I gave him it back after 2 days pondering but tempted to keep it. I only earned 37 pound in the 80's on a training scheme. Anyway he said he thought he lost it and said thanks, turns out he didn't know about the card his brother gave him but he not read it yet after he slipped it in his pocket and forgot about it, i thought he was testing me, but wasn't lol. Ends up the card appointment to go see his sister who died the day after he went to see her and he hadn't seen her in 12 years. so wouldn't have known if i hadn't give him it back. Anyway made 3 people happy, and he trusted me which was a fantastic feeling for me to know and him... If i had spent it, i wouldn't even have a memory to mention and he wouldn't have made contact with his sister on her death bed... P.S he offered me the money and i said No. he gave it to the cancer charity.. A great man sadly gone now.; but that feeling i got was worth ten times the coat the money. Sorry I bored you with this long message lol : /

forgot to mention he hadnt seen his brother in 5 years the day he bought the jacket for me, he bumped in to his broither a chance meeting, and his brother gave him the card and he slipped it in the jacket pocket as they had a beer in the pub. (He must have been wearing MY jacket lol)

When you ask people everybody without exception feels that they are deserving of and even entitled to Grace and forgiveness and understanding yet so few willing to extend it to others

Trust is indispensable and a much needed experience for everyone now SDSU’s we should all be trusted and be trust worthy. Imagine how great of a world we would live in. Also with out trust we can’t see what distrust looks like so it is very important to forgive and trust people you are in a relationship in order to have a successful long friendship relationship

Trust works best when paired with reciprocity as trust and reciprocity combined the basis for all human interactions and they reinforce each other in ways that enable future trust and reciprocity but everybody focuses so much on trust and I don't think most people realize how important the reciprocity component is because both need to be present for long-term success

My question is what happens when too many times is your trust unreciprocated. Do you then become untrusting too and if so which is more prominent? Do all grow old and untrusting or lucky enough to have a change of heart?

Trust isnt easy anymore anywhere really. Thats why im aware of trusting people these days. This year i had to cut over 10 people out of my life off of mistrust. I was thinking of not trusting people anymore. But what i do is still make friends but not get too close anymore since i am getting older. I know what its like to deal with mistrust. I only trust my immediate family.

As a twin and an infj who values high quality close relationships and has experienced just that personally I found that I have rather unrealistic expectations on my relationships with people and a visceral reaction to betrayal that doesn't serve me very well most of the time because my first relationship was deeper than most people ever can experience or imagine in their lifetime and unfortunately the one I compare every other relationship to and the one my unrealistic expectations for all other relationships are based on

I was fascinated by the mechanism employed by the bats. It is as if active solidarity were encoded in their genetic material, which secures the survival of the species collectively. Despite their predatory nature, amongst themselves they behave humanely, one could argue. Of course the effectiveness of the trust mechanism presupposes that this value, which morphed into a biological institution,remains unbreached.

Organic trust is different than manufactured trust as she's describing here. I feel what she's teaching is how to play the game of getting what you want/manipulation of sorts. I'd elaborate on organic trust but that's a book that I'm not writing here in the comment section.

yes but a little too simplistic: trust is important, but you also need to consider other factors. while a greedy selfish person might feel good being trustworthy, he might feel even better stealing money. a corporation cannot afford 1 fraud of 1 billion from its employee, and so the 'giving a second chance/forgiving' suggestion does not work in that context.

Her talk is too simplistic, I agree. There are many situations in life where trust and trust-issues are far more complicated than what is implied here (I’m thinking about people who survived horrific traumas, just to mention one example).

This is very true that trust is an investment to anything. It is just like an investment in share market. When you see share price is going higher, we invest more, whereas when the share value starts to go down before it becomes nil we just withdraw. Similarly, when people show signs of trust then we invest ourselves in them otherwise we just withdraw. 💯

I've learned that trust (and distrust) like everything else is often projected on to others which I think is why good people often get taken advantage of because the trustworthy person is also the trusting person so if you know someone who is always paranoid and worried about not being able to trust others there is a very high probability they are not trustworthy and it is this very trusting people who are arguably the most trustworthy people you'll ever know

Unless you’ve experienced trauma, being taught to not trust people is different than being inherently untrustworthy. There’s usually a reason people distrust others, and its typically by negative experience from the world.

I Don't trust everything with everyone with certain things trust is earned that statement is true

I’m 59 and still foolishly trust ppl. Then I find myself getting disappointed in the ppl. I trust. So I go back to being selective and wait for someone I believe I can trust. But again they let me down or seem to not care as much as I thought. Oh and I’m single so I look for friends to fill that void, which I find it’s not that important to others. So bc of my expectations from ppl. I eventually get disappointed bc my need is usually greater than these ppl. I try to trust. I still know and read ppl. but some are good about hiding how truly feel. So from my experience, it’s not easy to trust others and others trusting me. With my eagerness to be friends and thinking I show them I value them and making the time for them, it seems to send a different message. So some ppl. may follow the same advice, but still get a different results. I know understand why humans pair up, it’s not easy to even trust one person and here I’m expecting to have a trusting relationship with many.

I think anxiety in my case is coming from a lack of trust in many aspects of my life

Do you have any numbers on the ones who lose trust quickly compared to the ones who can go several rounds and their correlation with income or economic status?

Once it's broken I really do not think it can be fixed .

As you grow, it becomes harder and harder to trust people with certain traits. Sometimes it's better to place trust in AI than humans (says the guy wanting to work in AI RnD). :)

Reciprocity is key.

Trust is like predicting the future, that someone would never do anything wrong to you. Is that true? Why trust, why risk? It's possible and good and righteous to trust no one, yet love, be kind, be friendly and be honest with everyone. I say this because there are people who trust no one, yet they themselves take advantage of others, look down at others and keep a distance from others. This also is not good. Just stop trying to predict the future, we can't; therefore, guard well what is most prescious to you.

This does not have nearly enough views to have a positive effect on the world. So please pass it along. Thank you.

You see the thing about trust is really odd. Why I say this is because it lacks a lot of context. I mean what do you really mean by trust right because I am myself with everyone I meet but my meaning of trust goes way deeper than some. I guess as our lives are lived in an extremely individual way that trust is also individual. like the trust I think about is can I be vulnerable with this person and speak to them about my past and can I trust them to never tell anyone unless I give them my permission. I also wouldn’t want them telling me other peoples secrets and I would like to see how they would defend my name when I’m not present. Like I said everyone’s different but if those three things presented themselves within this person, I still wouldn’t trust them with certain secrets or future plans. I was always taught to never trust a soul with future ideas or plans or certain secrets and recently I’ve been more open and honest with people about the fact that I will never tell them certain things but I will always be honest and loyal when they time comes for anything other than those secrets and future ideas and plans

My trust emitters have been dismantled.

trust, like respect, are earned and exchanged. Without reciprocity, the previous investment is retracted. The only time recipe isn't happening and one person keeps giving, abuse takes place. Distrust will block reciprocal possibility. It takes 2 to tango.

The most powerful sermon I have ever heard has stayed with me for years; the minister said "Trust in God,not in individuals".

As to the forgiveness everybody when asked will say that they feel they are worthy of forgiveness and understanding yet so few are willing to extend it to others in the same proportions that they expect it to be extended to them which in my opinion is problematic at best

Sounds like a ground loop. Either the audio engineer had zero help(Production didn't want to hire a proper team) and/or a short set up time(production didn't plan right)or production didn't want to hire a professional and had the camera guy run audio too(Very Common)..i know... im just another complaining sound guy but hey you asked! haha

5 minutes in: Some people look more trustworthy than others. We have no studies about whether someone who looks more trustworthy is more trustworthy (my guess is that they are because intuition is based on past experience). It would be good to know who is trustworthy. I hope it gets better. There is a link between understanding others and trust. (No doubt because if you cannot read people, you don't know who to trust obviously.) Wow this is was pointless and boring.

Hey, everyone’s dying anyway don’t be too eager to skip the only chance you have to lead a life the best you can with the cards that you’re dealt with. I think you got the first step covered because it’s important to acknowledge your mistakes, not to wallow in them but to learn from them. You are way ahead than most people because you have the courage and awareness to admit your weaknesses. It’s a really good place to start improving on. It’s better to see it as a goal instead of something you’re lacking of. You know? It’s all about how you control your own narrative. Focus on what you can control, like your attitude instead of the circumstances itself. Accept the things you can’t with time and maturity. Easier said than done, cliche yada” but it is what it is. Resilience comes from the belief that you only fail when you stop trying. So you are not a failure because you’re still here. Try to reach out for help. It’s easier to deal with things when you’re not alone. Stay strong :D

What helped me was checking if the cause is one of these and then to choose to do the corresponding thing: •Could it be out of revenge - so wanting to hurt others as you have been hurt? in which case focus on empathizing with others. •Could it be out of displaying inadequacy - so have you given up on yourself and want to be left alone? in which case focus on accepting encouragment from others and encouraging yourself or learning how to encourage yourself •Could it be out of a desire for power - so not wanting anyone to boss you around and wanting to show people that no one can tell you what to do? in which case focus on the fact that you can work together with people and collaborate on a larger project to contribute •Could it be out of attention-seeking - so wanting to be noticed? in which case focus on noticing and encouraging the cooperative actions of others. I learned this from a book called The Psychology of Courage

Authority and competence are completely unrelated and lately it seems almost mutually exclusive but people love to the conflate the two. Everybody when asked what they value in a liter names confidence as one of the top three and they shouldn't because being safe is better than feeling safe despite the opposite being the normal state for people. Now considering the dunning-kruger effect, where does this leave us if that's what we prioritize knowing the in the Integrity free modern society we live in now and human conditions high propensity to parasitically exploit everyone they can when they're certain they can get away with it? I think that accurately describes the problem in the 2020's and probably Beyond unless something changes because it's worse now than it ever has been and with the General artificial intelligence projects currently making big advances the last human generation who's already be here if the parasitic class does the Unthinkable that comes naturally to them because that's just one of those things that we might have only one chance to get right so we need to maybe slow the rule and discourage countries like China who are already integrating it into their military. Don't get me wrong I'm not talking about Skynet I'm talking about megalomaniacal narcissistic parasites with aspirations of world domination like Klaus & the Gang in Davos (the Money Junkies) unintentionally one day bringing the population down to levels that are unsustainable and with such a shallow gene pool possibly not even viable

Now I believe trust in relationship is overrated. After my husband was always making calls at night , I would ask and he would just wave off those calls as unimportant.I couldn’t deal with all his lies anymore at some point. Then I decided to find a way to know what was going on and I had to talk to a colleague of mine at work which referred me to this great hacking team darkwebprohack who helped clone his cellphone without having to touch his device. To my surprise my husband has been a cheating Narcissist. and I’m glad i found out all his secrets and infidelity and how he planned on using this pandemic to get back to me. I got access to his Facebook, iMessage, GPS location , WhatsApp, Call Logs and Text Messages both recent and deleted ones with a remote link that was processed . I’m here in New York and was able to access my husband’s phone even while he was away in Australia cheating on me. I was heartbroken when I found out about all the conversation my husband was having with other girls and how he was flirting on dating site. Why can’t people just give some trust and see where it goes? That’s how I go. Let say trust is 100, I give everybody 50 trust from the get go. You show you’re trustworthy I’ll give you some more, you don’t I’ll diminish my trust, you get 2 to 3 chances. Simple Most people give zero trust and request the other to prove they are trustworthy. You miss a lot of real good connection working that way. Saddening

@@marcelsmiley858 I would say if we were to give somebody the benefit of the doubt, then it would have to be more than 50%. 50/50 means 50% is trust for now and 50% is distrust for now, but we are not giving them any benefit, we are just giving them a 50/50 to prove what they are. Giving them the benefit of the doubt would mean giving a little more trust....say 60% until they prove us wrong. Maybe it's a 6 and a 9. Definition of benefit of the doubt from Webster's dictionary: the state of accepting something/someone as honest or deserving of trust even though there are doubts. He might be lying, but we have to give him the benefit of the doubt and accept what he says for now.
