I concur, this mod is real quality. I really like the clever mechanics used by the team, it is really the best simulation of the middle ages possible in this engine. But it is really a different beast, and the relative strength of the player and rebel settlements will be very surprising to newcomers. A big plus is Latin Empire start, with Constantinople in catholic hands, Byzantines disorganized, and Bulgaria on the rise. Very interesting period, but I think only this mod includes it in the lineup.

Definitely, the High Era campaign with the shattered Byzantine Empire and the playable Latin Empire is a great bonus. It makes me so nostalgic for the original Medieval Total War...

It's an excellent mod- the spiritual successor to chivalry total war for Rome total war.

Yes they are both excellent mods! Very different from each other though. Playing as Serbia is quite tough in Chiv 2, it's a nice challenge!

Thanks a lot Gudea for your review,I m ashamed that I never checked this mod properly on TW Center,I always avoid him because of the name,I tought that is just a mod that focus around Kingdom of the two Sicilies(something like that Hungary mod),now I consider of making a sub mod for him.Excellent base.But still it is still incredible for me that in 10 years from when I have a TWC account I never checked him,just because of that name and because I knew nothing about the Chivarly for Rome TW,until I seen your presentation about it.So thank you again and I wish you the best.

Yes, I can imagine that a lot of people might think this mod is about Sicily, especially if they don't know about the original Chivalry 1 (the medieval total conversion mod for Rome Total War). @Gudea TW Unfortunately that will happen just over 2 or 3 years,now I plan to resume my beloved project( www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?670553 ), wich I abandoned 6 years ago,first was planned like a submod for the german(english translated in my case) mod Schwert und Speer,but now I have to learn again to do everything,I forgot 95% of what I knew regarding scripting,photoshop,milkshape and in particular the corespondence between script files,In meantime two good original vanilla feeling mods appeared (Vanilla Kingdoms by Pike and Bananas by 4zumi),both are very good as a base for a future sub mod that I dream about for such a long time,and the third great option can be KGCM by Dave Scarface whit builder sub mod.Anyway I invite you to take a look to what I want to implement in an sub mod for an M2TW Vanilla friendly mod,I use to have great pictures on the thread,but their links are broken for a couple of years,and I did not had time and interess now to remake them and upload them again.Just some videos that present the differences in campaign map and battle map beetwen Leader, Heir, General and Captain for a couple of faction.

Thanks to you I discovered this amazing mod, i'm playing this game for a lot of hour and it's very beautiful. A shame that they didn't update anymore cause it have a lot of potential, but still very well done

I just got into this mod, and yes it is def true, the faction swapping system is truly genius, love this mod, glad I decided to give it a try after getting sick of grand campaign mod, ss, ltc, and many others, great new find didn’t think I’d find another 5,000 hours of playable time in a mod again since I’ve played most, and man I’m glad I did!

Yup this mod is a real gem!

I remember playing this cool mod back in the day. I completely forgot about the early era campaign. I might play this again actually. When you downloaded the mod, was it the 3.3 hotfix only? Also, I just found this channel yesterday and I have to say it is amazing and I relate to it a lot. I always prefered history over the fantasy or arcade style total war games.

I think it just hasn't been in active development for a long time. It's still great! I want to do an LP to showcase it soon. Been thinking of playing a Balkan faction (Serbia, Bulgaria, or the Vlachs maybe).

I dislike the garrison script because every city gets a full stack for free unless it’s the player’s city, then you get no help

You're welcome! Chivalry 2 definitely deserves more attention.

I can see the inspirations from Medieval: Total war. Both this mod, and the game have a 4 campaign system. Even the Campaign map looks similiar. This is like a mix of medieval 1 and 2.

No mention of whether there are new troops and models or not?

After playing 100 turns in dark age campaign here is my impression: This mod is so very well thought out. Names of regions, characters and regions are very precise. Garnison script is unique, you can hold a settlement with different religion and don't need to destroy other religion building to construct your own. Some factions go horde after they lose their last settlement, like in BI. Recruitment system in castles and cities is awesome with implementation of feudal system. So many other things it's hard and too long to list them all. Had one CTD on campaign map. Downside is that AI is so unbearable stupid on campaign map and especially in battles. Tried to implement this www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?705596-Skynet-AI but then I lost permanent fortification so I reverse it. AI doesn't build the feudalisation buildings that provide best units and this really kills the game. Maybe playing with Germanicus RBAI would at least solve the battles, but I found it hard to install this mod. There is suggestion for Gudea, make tutorial how to install RBAI with SV 3.3 as example. Such a pity this mod is dead, imagine if someone would revive it. I highly recommend this mod you will not regret it.

Thanks for this post! Glad to see that you're enjoying Chivalry 2 - such a great mod. I agree regarding the AI - it's not the best, since version 3.3 was released when there was only a version of the XAI out that was good but not great. I think the Skynet AI is a good solution - I've heard that the AI simply cannot figure out how to deal with permanent fortifications and that is a tough one to solve. I'll see what I can do. I will probably do some streams/videos on this mod since it definitely deserves more attention.

Is there a submod or simple enough way to tone down the garrison script? It is slightly too heavy handed for my liking.

Hi Walrus, unfortunately such a submod doesn't exist at the moment, but you're right, it would be very nice if that option was available. That's part of the reason why I wanted to cover this mod again - it is one of my favorites and I'd like to see someone take the reigns and develop a submod for it. I think reducing the garrison script would not be too tough to do.

I never downloaded Chivalry 2 because apparently the first mega file has a trojan on it. Are there any alternative links or instructions on installing I can find?

Hi Podcast, try the links in this post. It's actually where I dled the mod so I know the files are ok - if it says there's a virus then it's a false-positive. This is a problem for a long time. I remember this concern from like 10 years ago. This is a false alarm, for some reasons some software are too sensitive. I didn't have any problems when I installed it. (unfortunately I lost my copy when I changed the PC a few years ago).

@@GudeaTW Yeah, I installed it and I uninstalled after trying the 1401 and 888 campaigns and them crashing on startup, in addition with the very buggy UI. Underwhelmed to say the least. Would you consider reviewing "The Great Conflicts" public Alpha, its an excellent and pretty much only Early Middle Ages mod for Medieval 2.

@@TheSunderingSea Hi Podcast, there must be an issue with the installation or launcher, because the campaigns don't crash and the ui isn't buggy (as shown in the video - the battle was played using the Kingdom of Burgundy in the 888 campaign).

@@GudeaTW i saw this every faction i played even in renaissance campaign factions start with trash units and they re all same units in original game,for instance in dark age,all factions using levies and they re not upgrading their armies to more powerful units,i can give you more consistent info s when i playing the game tomorrow,and you can check from your game is this a installation problem or a normal thing to playing low level units,if you have time ofc,thanks for reply,love u

I made chivalry remastered for rome remastered and I'd say chivalry 1 has better balance and mechanics and feel, but chivalry 2 is more complete. Chivalry remastered will be the definitive experience

I've been having some trouble getting ib ii Britannia to work... Keeps saying it can't find kingdoms.exe, but it's there... Don't have that issue with any other mod..

I still replay Medieval 2 Total War because of this specific mod 😀 For me it’s the Byzantine Empire under the reign of Manuel II. Enjoy!

@@GudeaTW I placed the folder in my mods. I also have set med2 launch options this line @mods\SicilianVespers\SicilianVespers.cfg . Also I read on the sicilian vespers somewhere though it could be instructions for an older version that you need to copy med2 rename it to Lancher.exe and put in a backup folder in the med2 directory. When I select the start date letter nothing happens. Then I proceed to launch base game on steam, it shows me mod main menu with all costum campaigns, but when I select the one I chose I get a ctd crash instantly when Im about to load up on the campaign map. Maybe I am not supposed to launch the mod from base game vanilla ?

@@boyar3033 ok, I have an idea. You have to launch the mod using "kingdoms.exe", so you have to copy/paste the medieval2.exe file and rename it kingdoms.exe (in the same directory). It should work.

My install video was flagged by KZread for being against the rules. I appealed since if course it's not, but the appeal was denied

i JUST uninstalled the mod, 42 turns , on late era, as the french , at war with english and more,42 turns i, take london too, nobody attacks me....... turns on siege of london, nobody even tries....

Install the game. Told me the key for the Launcher. About to loading and it's gone it's all gone. No matter what era it doesn't work. Failed.
