The Kettlebell Awaits: www.amazon.com/dp/B08SPJJ8HY
I had a total knee replacement last month, so my overall strength and physical fitness really went downhill. For the past three weeks I perform a 1.5 mile suitcase carry with a 16kg kettlebell and it has helped tremendously. I'm soaked in sweat by the time the walk is over, but I can feel my trunk muscles are much harder and my legs are stronger too. I'm 62 and feel like I'm 40 again.
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
The Step Up is good stuff, Coach! Much success to you and your book! - Gregory
Thank you!
Works great I so needed this
great info. thanks.
nice one! I think even learning how to grip a kettlebell is not trivial. This morning I discovered that I used to grip mostly with middle and pinky. I tried to start the grip from the pinky and it made quite some difference. It helped better with packing of the shoulder/lats.
Good tutorial as always coach. I used to do these at the gym before covid, but use my driveway now. I could definitely use some more form cues though.
106 lb kettlebell... for demonstration purposes, beast mode!
Loved the dont walk like Frankenstein advice
It's really amazing how fast your grip strength and endurance improve doing carries and farmers walks... I often start off with farmers walks and when I hit my limit, I'll switch to single arm carries, then back to farmers walk... I got up to 1.25 miles with 2x70lb. I added 40lbs of chain and now I'm back down to .5 miles... I should have just gone with a 20lb chain, it was so brutal lol
Ever since the lockdowns, to avoid other people in elevators, I've been carrying my kettle bell down (and back up again) 22 flights of stairs to do my workouts. Didn't realize that was a workout too 😀

Good advice. Though I think your "shoe is (NOT) vertical" but horizontal.
Very underrated exercise
Cool stuff. Keep doing the good work you're doing. Kettlebells are very under rated tools of the fitness trade. I feel as if the glamour, materialistic, society in the states doesn't realize the benefits of the kettle bell. Probably because the results are not always "mirror muscle" aesthetics, but performance based skill.

Thanks, and I completely agree with you. We are WAAAAAY behind on the true understanding of kettlebells here in the U.S. Most are obsessed going til failure with horrible technique. It's a big reason why I started this channel.

Great video Coach Vaughn! I was wondering what kind of shoes do you have on? I noticed the minimal sole on it.

Thanks, those are Vivobarefoot Shoes. I got them this month, and love them for my strength workouts. The open toe box makes a big difference and they have special stitching so you can flex your toes better. The only con is they don’t feel great when you casually are out walking on concrete for long hours though. I can't do kettlebell swing without hurting my lower back. I am practising/attempting the Turkish get-ups at home and I do the carries down and up my stairs...that is tough ! :-)

Ya, carries are perfect substitute for swings - they’re not for everyone. If you need more tips I got a full kettlebell playlist here: m.kzread.info/head/PL5EZfwN4W8LzXQ8q2qoOUp4lKP3NdqmHN

How would it go if you walked on grass?
@CoachVikingVaughn

Grass works better honestly. Your feet will be able to sink into the dirt better and actively flex at the toes better. So kettlebell carries are also great at parks.
