Today we are talking kettlebells. Again. But specifically today we are talking about how mastering kettlebell swing technique can make your exercise and training experience much better overall.
The hip hinge is a foundational movement for stability and recruiting force and power. Power Cleans. Deadlifts. Snatches. Box Jumps. All these movements are rooted with a good hip hinge and insewrt kettlebell swings to create fluency and confidence in all these movements.

Only if you have ADD
I just started doing kb swings every morning after I wake up. There’s really no excuse for anyone to not wake up 11 minutes earlier than usual so you can do 10 minutes of swings. I do 10, finish the minute resting, and do 10 more until I get to 100 after 10 minutes. I feel so much better mentally just knowing I’m starting to do something.

You can’t imagine any reasons why someone would not wake up 10 min earlier to do kettlebell swings?
Nice to be reasured that I haven't wasted my time with kettlebell swings.
I’ve started doing the “hike pass” with bands to warm up, every day, and have implored your 100 KB swings a day.. thanks, brother! Has been an incredible game changer for me. Absolutely love your channel!
Just started kettleballs this week. I thought I was in pretty good shape. LOL. I've also started "intense" exercising last week. So doing 3 reps of 30 swings in my warm-up before doing my 3 primary intense exercise (rowing/Stair stepper/ dreadmill) I have now added another 3 reps of kettleball in my cool-down.. All this has taken me to another level. Who knew? BTW, I turn 75 this yr.

@@WhoIsJonHarris LOL. I get that a lot. Genetics I guess. Also, I wrestled in high school and I think dieting and at least being mindful of some sort of fitness, went along ways. But it wasn't until 2010 when I ruptured 3 lumbar that I seriously began taking better care of myself all yr round. Except when graduating from boot camp, this might possibly be the time in my life where I am the most phyically fit. Also, I have biked 3K miles for the last 4 summers and 5k the summer before those. Headed to Florida to bike on the 12th. I tell people, no matter what shape you're in, just do something, even if its only 20 min of walking. Thx for the reply.
Swings have absolutely transformed my life! Hard to beat them, as far as what you get out for what you put in.

Just started doing KB swings and I LOVE THEM. I came for the info, I stayed for the goodest boy on the planet - You got yourself a like and subscribe!
First time I ever saw a kettlebell was in 2004 in Estonia on a trip. I learned the basics then and have been using them ever since. Now in mid 40s they are about all I use at home. I have dip bars and a pull up bar and kettlebells. Super happy with my health and fitness level.

Thank you for this video Jon, I've been wanting to get into kettlebell exercises. I can't stop laughing at your dog lol
Currently walking with a couple of 5kg dumbells doing various exercises over 20-30 mins, 24kg kettlebell swings 12-20 mins, occasional run 30 mins, chin ups and push ups micro workouts during the day every hour or so which is possible as I'm 67 and retired, 30-50 minute walk without dumbells in the evening with the wife, two sessions in the gym per week etc it keeps me interested when mixing it up. Currently playing around with OMAD 74 kg down to 71.5 kg this morning occasionally two meals 173cm tall male. I enjoy your talks much appreciated I'm from Perth Western Australia.

Just found your channel Jon. Love the dogs, your shepherd reminds me of my two golden retrievers, who loved their frisbee catching. I'm 72, and been doing Kb Swings since I'm 53, missing a few periods after some wear and tear surgeries, but it's my focal point before I do anything else. I shoot for a 100 min. and some days it's 60 or 80, and then days at 130, 175, 150(past two weeks). Still doing deadlifts, but now lighter and for higher reps off a 3 inch high platform. I totally agree with your idea, to have a process, then good things happen. Epic beard by the way. Looking forward to more of your videos.(No ass shots). GT Sipe

The doggos are a big part of my life. Especially my new Malinois. He’s the frisbee boy. The older pup is a Shepard rescue we got a few years ago. He’s my noble old man. And the little white dog is the crotchety old lady in the neighborhood. Always knows the new drama. And is usually the source. I’ll do my best to keep my cheeks in the background of the content. But sometimes it just make it’s presence known haha.
Right now all I do is kettlebell swings and pushups, stretching and riding my bicycle. I also do the clean > squat > push press swith kettlebells every once in a while. Throw in some ab roller exercices, and my I get a pretty good overall training routine, which is made of simple, basic movements, which make the body work as a whole. I do not like to isolate muscles, I like to make them all work together. Cheers and God bless !

I give this explanation 13 points out of a possible 10. KB swings are one of those amazing exercises where everything in life gets easier once you've been doing them for just a few months - carrying the groceries, lifting the kids, changing a tyre, carrying bags of concrete from A to B. It's a superpower. Thanks for laying it out. Appreciated, and greetings from Australia. (60yo - doing a 2-3 thousand 24kg KB swings/cleans/snatches a month now, since the pandemic. Hip-hinge ones, not squat-dominant...)

Thanks a bunch friend. I see so many people getting weaker and weaker as they age. It really warms my heart seeing people that are still making the effort to keep some sort of strength and fitness no matter how old they are. I meet so many people who say “once you get my age you won’t be able to do that” and I have members at my gym twice their age banging out the work. Excuses for days. Swang and Bang brother.
I'll swing 3-4 times per week. I love them.

I’m 44, started kettlebell training about 6 months ago, I’ve been weight training for a few years & doing Pilates. The kettlebells have transformed my body like nothing else. I superset 1 minute of kettlebell swings after each exercise during my session. I’m so much stronger, I was looking at pics from my track days in college and my 44 year old ass is better than it was at 20! I know that’s because of the kettlebell swings!!
Good info..... Agreed
Beautiful cool dogs !!!!

Kettlebells, German Shepherds and Malinois! All my favourite things combined. Is your mali as much hard work as people say? How dare you show up on this kettlebell hard style video with your kettlebell sport propaganda. It’s insulting. And unwarranted… hahaha! I kid I kid. I’ve actually talked about this a lot with my coach. He’s also a kettlebell nerd. I’ll be honest I haven’t really spent a lot of time with the sport style approach. Always been hardstyle. Throughout my entire coaching career. But here’s my thought. While sport style may be more efficient and endurance focused. It doesn’t seem… fast. It strikes me as methodical and “in it for the long haul” type of technique. Not necessarily applicable in the “fast” environment anaerobic CrossFit methodology. What day you?

I was talking to my coach about this very thing recently. It’s almost like you’re going to end up landing in one camp or the other. I believe the REAL benefit is commitment to a practice.
