I want to give a big shout-out to all the volunteers who have kept this cabin (and other NS cabins) alive with all their hard work and dedication over the years. If it wasn't for them, these places would have rotted into the ground years ago. Thank you!!! 🙏

Do you think a reasonably healthy and fit 58 yr old male with virtually the same gear as you be able to successfully embark and succeed at this venture?

When you go to these cabins do you have any idea if someone is arriving at the same time or do you “reserve” it? How does that work?

@@nathanbailey1593 As stated from the Cofan cabin website "Due to the Tobeatic’s true wilderness nature and relatively low use, there is no requirement to book the cabin. If it’s empty, you’re in luck; if it’s occupied, you may still be in luck as travelers through the Tobeatic are often more than willing to share." I know that in the past episodes of some of the cabins that Noah has gone too, he has had to book and reserve them well in advance of his trips.
I'm old and can't get out in the woods anymore, so I watch others do it for me. Your trip was just beautiful!

Me too. I can only go where my walker can take me & for short distances. We are blessed to go with him vicariously! My dad was such an outdoorsman, and I loved that way of life. Every time I see a river or lake I want to wet a line. I miss fresh rainbow trout for breakfast. 😋

Thanks for taking us along on your wonderful 4 day excursion. It was beautiful & rugged. The cabin was well cared for (respectful visitors). I live vicariously with videos like this because I'm way to old to go out physically. Still love to see the woods and critters & especially the little birds. God bless.....😊❤ P.S. YOUR VIDEO WAS A REAL TREAT!

We were at the cabin on Oct 1st. Wild to see there were seemingly 3 other log entries after ours. I took a picture of the Northern Scavenger sticker on the wall. Also very enjoyable to see those portages again while they are still fresh in my memory. Thanks for the video!

Wow, now THAT is a small world J Gallant. I guess because I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia, KZread sends me video's from my area, but it's nice to see ones like this, the last few I got from KZread is people turning on their dashcams, driving from Halifax to Yarmouth nonstop with no talking ... like watching grass grow.

I could never make such a long trip. For one reason at 73 years of age, I'm not up to it anymore. However, even if I were, I would be stopping at every promising piece of water to fish, probably not going more than half a mile a day - lol. Loved your video, especially seeing the black bear and the black capped chickadee's at the cabin.

Nice video. You got my thumbs up when you restocked the wood chest. It shows good character.
Thank you, very enjoyable, greetings from Paradise, NL
Thanks for sharing - Great trip! I love these Canadian remote woods - incredible streams, rivers, and lakes. And maintained trails and cabins! Kudos to Canadian neighborly decency on display!
Awesome video! Amazing camera work and really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing
Nice canoe trip. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi from mike A from LA.CA. I really enjoyed this video. I haven t watched your channel in a while. I like your voice and narration. Its perfect. Not to high pitched and not low and boring. The scenery and vegetation that you shoot is great. Thanks so much.
Don’t stop Noah!! You are killing it
We're lucky to live in such a beautiful Province. It never ceases to amaze me. I hope to make it to this cabin someday! Been on my list for a while now. Great video.
Well welcome to Nova Scotia, plenty of those cabins around our parts. Always left some food behind for the next visitor in case they had nothing... its part of the NS way, and always sign the log books.
Not only, that you're a great narrator,...but, your experience crisscrossing Canada shows, when all the camera angles you have in your footage... Good stuff to watch,... Very relaxing ! Enjoyed it...👍

Another beautiful video.
What a gorgeous spot. I could live there. Have that little black bear as a pet to cuddle with to keep warm in winter 😉 Take care of your shoulder. I hurt mine several years (decades?) ago, and now I can only go paddling on flat, calm water. So I took up backpacking. I do miss canoe tripping, tho.
It's the simple principle of what we sow is what we reap. Leaving wood and a clean cabin reap that the next time you arrive there. Absolutely stunning scenery.
Wow! I’m so jealous! 😊 thank you for sharing your adventures and my dreams! May god bless!
Good man. Getting the fire wood in. You just gotta love a packable buck saw!

I first came across that cabin back in the late 80s. Pretty special spot. Do the walk up to culling rock from there. Definitely worth the slog.

Wonderful fall colors, great image quality too. Thanks for sharing with us
Just a simple suggestion for you. When you're trying to split wood and it won't stay up right. Take a stick in your off hand and use that to hold the wood upright and stable. This will allow you to hit the wood with your axe hard enough to set the axe, but not endanger yourself. Commonly referred to as a "Sissy Stick", but I like to think of it as a "Safety Stick". Great video so far. Now if you will excuse me, I have to get back to it so I can finish watching.

Also, there may have been a reason but splitting on a rock isn’t great because if you miss or just go through the wood you hit the rock and dull the blade. Much better to just do on the ground no?

This was my first NS video and I truly enjoyed watching it. Never been to Nova Scotia but your trip reminded me of some canoe camping trips in BWCA and QPP when I was half as old as I am now. Just beautiful. Excellent videography too! What a wonderful video and story. Thank you for doing AND sharing.
I recently did a (failed) trip to Magnetawan in Ontario and after a 2.3km portage in the dark, we ended at a small shack that had been used since the 1930's. It was amazing to stay there for two nights. Left some wood, fishing tackle and hot sauce lol

Your video is very relaxing for the soul. I'm a kayaker/camper and find being in nature is the best medicine ever. Very cool channel.
Enjoyed this video very much. I live in SW Nova and many folks are unaware of the number of lakes and the remoteness of the province. Thanks again for a great video.
Really peaty looking water, like our rivers in Scotland.
Now that is a trip that uses up quite a bit of energy. I love the fact that you were the only one within miles; peace and quiet, even the bear wasn't making any noise or bothering you. Nice video. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks.
Your shelter was cool indeed. It was "portageurs's style". Two things here. When splitting the small logs (at the start of the video), use a small stick to hold the log. It makes things easier and safer. And the small cowbell..get rid of that. It was proven that those bells attarcts young bears. And who's following? Big Mama bear... (there's a video from NOLS talking about that). Other than that, it was a very nice video and you made me smile. Well done. I'm subscribing right now. P.S. The "animal" was a sleeping Sasquash.
Noah , love your trips, stay close with Esquif. Their US guy is big supporter!
i was fishing in nakina, ontario once. every time i would go to this lake i would see the same bear sitting about 40 yards from the road. he was just watching the cars go by. he was a young cinnamon color black bear, about half grown.
Maybe Santa will bring you a double bladed paddle suitable for a solo canoe! Love the vids, keep 'em coming!
20:57. Spectacular shot. Should be a painting.
cool.
Beautiful scenery and a happy camper. Great combo. Cheers from sunny Florida, eh!
Loved the Autumn orange colours and that dehydrated Shepherd's Pie supper and will have to try. Very enjoyable video!👍
The log book is like a comment section but way cooler. Thank you for sharing.
Really enjoyable video
Nice video, & thank you for using a 4K camera.. some people don’t and I can’t understand , it really shows the beauty of the area you’re in
Noah! I've recently just discovered your channel in the last few weeks and I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the East coast through your eyes, and your lens. I have an obsession with the East Coast thanks to the many stories I've read by former Cape Breton Island resident, the late Farley Mowat... Although, I've never had a chance to visit the East coast yet! Your adventures out that way sure are inspiring for me. Thank you for gracing all of us in the KZread world with your presence, your adventures, and the beautiful content your making... I can't even imagine the work that goes into all of it!
When I'm out in the wild, I always try and find a big rock to chop wood on as well.

What a cool adventure. I love this sort of content, as it is far from the realms of what I have at my disposal here in the UK. Amazing to be able to see what the world has to offer ad inspire future trips for myself and others
Thank you so much for taking us along. Your filming is spectacular. A lot of hard work and so many shots where you had to set up in difficult circumstances. You made the firewood look easy! I know nothing was easy. Thank you also for not needing to talk all the time. You are personable, enjoyable to listen to and you have a lot of knowledge. I appreciate you sharing.

Well this Novs Scotia born girl knows the area you are traveling through...😉 Thanks for the adventure. ❤
I thought the cabin looked familiar. I think you were there with a few of the guys. That too was a great video. Thanks for the distraction Noah, going to be a long winter. Looking forward to getting back out in the spring!
Thanks for sharing Noah! Really makes me homesick watching you paddle Nova Scotia!
That trip is worth it. Re: Mason's Cabin. The one and only time we stayed there it was disgusting. The previous party used it as a human barn apparently. Way better off in a crude lean to. I'd like to spend a night in one of the sky dome cabins at Kedge but sadly that won't likely happen any time soon. Thanks for posting. It reminds me of my dearly departed family member, a professional guide for life. Rest in peace.
Beautiful wilderness cabin and a fine video. I enjoyed this film very much.
