Hey Cooper! Fan of your videos and I really enjoy your content. However, I'm a little put off by your sponsor for this video? I'm always a little suspicious of things like this, so I did a little digging and while it does seem relatively legit at a first glance if not a bit misleading for how much money you actually earn, when I clicked the link in your description, my browser blocked the url for malware and phishing saying it was "a known security threat". I'm assuming the best but I just wanted to put that out there

I know you shouldn’t speculate about other people’s mental health but to me this feels so much like someone who’s neurodivergent and was miraculously never bullied for it, and now exists completely seriously and genuinely without any irony or self awareness. Like how he’s completely unironically embraced the finance bro lifestyle, while being pretty odd, is a level of confidence and blissful ignorance about how other perceive him that only makes sense in that scenario to me. Obviously anyone reading take this with a grain of salt, just my personal theorizing, no need to diagnose him or dig into his personal life

Also - 100% not a critique, if I happen to be right I think it’s awesome. Having others constantly tell you you’re weird and tearing you down makes it incredibly difficult to be authentic and not hide your personality at least a little bit. Wish we could all be this real and open

I also get this vibe of him being neurodivergent, since the fake positive "gaslighting comments" are something I experienced as a kid and it took years to realize it was a subtle form of bullying. But also his work persona feels like he is masking (especially the one where he is holding back tears, reminds me of that one spongebob episode where he "becomes normal" which must have been based off the creator's experience with masking as a neurodivergent person) and the hat persona reminds me of how much more animated and happy I am when doing anything related to special interests/hyperfixations, as well as the fact that I will often dress/wear certain accessories when I know I'll be facing something difficult that day as if I were putting on armor but it's more of a mental/emotional support kind of thing where I can draw strength from having those items on me the way a kid might from a blankie or stuffed animal (I also have stuffed animals, but only take one with me if I'm going to an appointment that will involve needles because the teddy is weighted and I can hold it tight to my chest to get through the experience due to a needle phobia.) Like to some extent his genuine sincerity is definitely just who he is, but I do think that sometimes he is masking distress in situations where he has been taught he is "supposed to", like at work.

this and also as an autistic person myself who often had people jokingly act supportive (what cooper calls gaslighting in this case) I have to wonder if his sincerity and clear difference in energy when he's wearing the hat which seems to coincide with doing things related to his interests, potentially special interests, are because maybe he is autistic like me. His work persona (the linkedin video) and how he is holding back tears in that other work video makes me think of that spongebob episode where he "becomes normal" which I believe was based on the creator's experience being neurodivergent and trying to mask/camouflage and fit in, which tends to lead to burnout and is bad for mental and physical health

Regarding his Marathon video, apparently pooping yourself during a marathon is an actual thing. Last year at the Boston Marathon a runner pooped on someone's lawn (there are porta pottys along the marathon route) and so many people defended the runner on the post, that it became a kind of huge story in Boston. So that's how I found out it's not uncommon for marathon runners to poop themselves.

Real talk tho, gettin' an accident via liquid shits is actually not even uncommon among marathon runners. So, like, handling what is normally something very embarrassing and shameful by just being casual about it, I think is actually potentially a good thing. I mean, yeah, it's not pleasant, but it's human. It's better to acknowledge it as a thing folks just gotta deal with sometimes, than to be mean spirited. Apparently, another problem among runners is chapped nipples, which can even be to the point of bleeding, because... like... shirts can chafe while running. At least with that, some kind of tape or bandage/bandaid is a solution.

Absolutely common and normal. I never shit myself while running, but I peed my pants when I ran distance and it was so horrible and embarrassing I gave up. I cried and sat down because I was so embarrassed. At the time I was probably 15 or so. For real, if I had seen this video beforehand I would've realized how normal it is to lose control when you are pushing your body to its limits. I kept running, but in that moment I was so ashamed. Davis is definitely also an East-Coast work hard guy, the West Coast version of Davis is much tech bro-ier and Davis just SCREAMS Boston to me. I agree with the thesis of the video though; this is how everyone should be treated on social media and it is strange that someone who has so much potential to be a meme and be made fun of has a following of super supportive humans. Isn't there a quote that says something like "if you can't tell its satire then its not satire" and I think that applies to these comments because even if some are being made ironically it is all coming off as a positive supportive comment on his videos. I don't think this applies to other creators' comments on their videos but in this situation I think it applies

I completely agree. If you are very vulnerable, either people will hate you or be very kind. I recently saw a post of someone who failed the state exam in law. But instead of hating them (we all know how cruel law students are), they supported her and told her how she will get through it in the 2nd try. Some even told her about similar failures and it was just overall kind. I think people aren't specifically kinderr if you are truly yourself all the time, but they are kind if you are open about your failures and how you want to succeed the next time.

I know I’ll get taken advantage of by some people, and that’s a trade off I’m willing to make because I need to live with all my choices and still be able to sleep at night. I’m not trying to flex or anything, it’s just I get the concept of putting yourself out there, regardless of what mental state you’re in. Like it’s not the end of the world when something doesn’t go your way and you don’t need to constantly see the negative aspects of every little thing.
