Old guitars are always the coolest. Not just the craftsmanship, but the history behind it, where it’s been, who’s played it, etc. I’m always fascinated by that. Of course all of that adds value to it as well. If I were a collector I think I’d just keep the oldest ones I could find. Haha. Really loved this one!

The Riversong guitar at 7:37 sounded beautiful and the last guitar was beautiful as well. With that 70+ year old guitar being $50,000 CAD, I’m genuinely curious what an original lute from the renaissance era would be worth now if any still existed. That would be an incredible find!
actually really liking the content lately, keep up the good work!
Handmade D’Angelico?! As a jazz guitarist myself, that’s a dream. And honestly hearing you sweep pick and play “jazz fusion” was so cool to hear. As for it being a grandpa guitar, you just gave it one more story for it to tell in its long life. Keep it up Steve, this made my day!

I’m going to name that guitar Ol’ Grampa Jazz. It’s snazzy. Anyways, Steve you never fail to astonish me how fast you play, like your fingers move so fast on the fretboard. As a beginner I find it so fundamentally difficult to press the strings properly and play quickly so notes sound right and so that I don’t accidentally pick a string I don’t want 😂 I wish I could see how you gradually progressed between beginner to your first vid, cuz by your first vid you were already phenomenal! And that way, I would be able to understand the process behind how you got so good. I need a better practice routine anyway. I know some of your earlier vids are tutorials and you make a lot of good points, so really you’re a great teacher. And I know that you said tutorial vids don’t work out for your channel anymore, but.. care to do a masterclass maybe? 😅
@SteveTerreberry
Жыл бұрын
Ol' Grandpa Jazz!! Done. I like it!! Acoustic is especially hard to press down on the strings. So, if you're learning on an acoustic, you will find it quite easy switching to electric!! Not gonna lie... I've been considering doing a masterclass. It's been a long time since I've done anything instructional... 🤔

Great video 👍👍
I remember when I worked at PBG when we where doing the master built reissues. We had one of those for about 2 weeks to reference with measurements and everything so we could replicate them to exact specs. Company had to take out 1million dollar insurance for D'Angelico to let us have it for the time we did.
I've had an unpleasant situation recently, nothing too serious, just a mild dissapointment in human decency, but it left me feeling quite down. I came back to this channel after a longer break (I confess to that crime), knowing that Steve's videos always make me laugh and lighten my mood. And I was not dissapointed - first video I watched, immediatelly alleviated my sadness. Djentotherapy by Steve turned out to be the best cure for everyday problems again - for which I am immensly grateful. Thank you, Steve for creating this amazingly hilariuos content. I really appreciate you as a musician, comedian and just a human being :) Much love from the country of the greatest female guitarist of all time - Sasha Sideboob :D

My grandfather bought a guitar in his youth that looks scarily similar to the last one, but its not a known brand on it. @@SteveTerreberry haha….that’s the lowest end model D’Angelico guitar John D’Angelico made. He made about 1100 guitars. The high end ones go for about $50k US. That one would go for about $8-10k US, considering it’s condition. Still, if you know when and how to use it, it will kill those $3000 guitars you’re talking about.

Hi how are you
That is a goddamn beautiful guitar. I love these 50s vintage instruments. Wow! There's this little duo that used to make jazzy / folky comedy songs (The Two Man Gentlemen Band) and one of them had a similar guitar except it was a four-string tenor guitar and it sounded awesome I think the other guy had a vintage double bass from the 30s or 40s if I'm not mistaken! Try a banjo next! (PS - the Carcass gig I went to last week was amazing, definitely a much needed palate cleanser after Petite Pompe's terrible "metal" song.)
