I've been playing for 20 years now. I think the best thing about playing guitar is not playing things that other people go "wow, that was awesome" , or someone says "that's great!" My personal favorites are the things I play that make me get lost in my own world between the headphones, alone in my house.... the riffs and jams I stumble across that make me close my eyes and play over and over because to me it's just so beautiful and zen. Those are my favorite moments.

This right here is why I play. I don’t care who else listens, I play for me and to feed my own soul, to lift myself up.
The smoothest guitar guy on KZread. His teaching approach is incredible. I've just started his Next Level Playing course and I've learned more in the last few weeks than I've learned in my 20 years of playing. Everything is connected and Pauls way of showing that is top class. Thanks for your time Paul

+1 to the quality of his guitar courses. I started with Learn, Practice, Play (even though I had been playing guitar for decades, I never really advanced beyond being a decent strummer, so I still found the beginner course valuable). I am now working through both Next Level Playing and Acoustic Adventure. I now have much better command of the neck, scales, leads, etc., in addition to keeping my rhythm techniques polished and expanding them a bit. And no, Paul did not pay me to post this. ;)

What's always amazing about your videos, Paul, is the way you effortlessly and clearly talk while playing without missing a beat. That's as impressive as your playing itself

As soon as I start playing, I become functionally mute. I'm a reasonable guitarist, just physically can't do anything else at the same time 😂

You’re kidding right? Clearly it’s second nature and there’s highly developed muscle memory involved. It’s like saying how can anyone play an instrument and sing at the same time? See Jimmy Hendrix.

I agree.. and have thought the same for quite some time. Check out Paul’s video on Travis picking for further example!
Watching Chet Atkins play basic scales and chords but making them sound so beautiful changed how I approach music. There is so much hidden beauty in things people take for granted.
"There's always someone who will love it"❤️❤️ . Paul you are a light in so many people's dark times.....thank you❤️....thank you for everything❤️🍻
Paul cares so much about his channel and his subscribers. The amount of time and effort he puts in his videos is insane. You can tell when someone loves their instrument.
20 years into the guitar journey and I’m still falling more in love with it. Got my first one at 16 from my great grandmother and I’ve never been the same. People that don’t play don’t know what they are missing in life. Cheers Paul.

Anything is fair game in music and arts. Simplistic or not, if it sounds good and amazing, that's all that matters. Cheers Paul.
Always love the silky smooth chord progressions you play. Always makes me want to pick up my guitar right away.
This gives me major 'Explosions In The Sky' vibes. It's very beautiful. Wonderful piece.

Have followed you for some years now and you have never disappointed!! I simple love these videos you drop now and again. Inspirational. Thank you.
Honestly, one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. It brings me so much melancholic and chill vibes. I could listen to you all day long. Thank you! You made my day better!
Probably the only guitar channel i can bing watch for fun without even worrying about what it is you are doing. The voicing sounds so good. Thank Paul for been awesome!!! 🙌🙌
The best performed guitar lesson I've ever heard. Wonderful storytelling.
Paul's touch on the guitar is truly unique, it's the player here that makes this progression sound so amazing
As a school music teacher myself, I can honestly say that you have a very natural gift - you make people believe 👍
No joke, Paul that was amazing and I love the creativity in this track. You really motivate me to pick up my own guitar either electric or the accustic to play something no matter what it is. I always enjoy your videos, because there are so much calm and philosiphy in there. Thank you Paul I am really exited for your next creation!
Beautiful, eloquent, just what we have come to expect from your wonderful gift. Thank you, Paul!💚
So passionate. My life goal in this world is to be like him in his playing style. Man it’s so beautiful and so encouraging
What a fantastic teacher. The way you just effortlessly talked us through what you were doing while you were doing it.
These are always my favorite videos Paul does. He gets me in a chord pattern groove that I can branch off from into my own thing. Love it and thank you for the virtual jam partner Paul!
The guitar is an amazingly versatile instrument. I started off with learning covers 20 years ago, and recently you have opened up for me, a new way of looking at the guitar. I'm loving all your your scales/arpeggios and chord progressions such as this superb piece. Mate, I'm finding it really enjoyable and meditative practising and listening to your music. Keep doing what you do. Thank you Paul.
Everytime i heard this progression, i wanna cry, touch my heart so deeply. Fantastic piece of art. "sometimes, it is just so easy"
You never cease to amaze me paul 😊
This is just perfection. You're honestly one of the most influential player of mine... and that tone !
the playing, commentary, story, timing, production, and editing is INCREDIBLE. Paul has always been top notch in guitar content, and to see him continue to up the ante is remarkable.

My husband just sent me your video with the note, “ This is why Paul Davids is my favourite online guitar teacher.” He sends me many of your videos. I love each and every one. I think maybe it’s time I gifted him some Next Level Playing for Christmas . . . or sooner. Thank you, Paul, for your beautiful music! 💕

Hi! Just curious, how'd that go? If I may ask ☺️
Your playing is so inspiring, Paul. The tone, and reverb, complements it perfectly. One request would be, and this is true of all your videos, please please please can you provide details of how you achieve the tone 🙏
You know it's phenomenal if Paul says it's "the most beautiful" thing he's madeand these pieces are the best when he talks you through it while making it more and more complex
The tone is amazing! Beautiful and lush sounding.
Yes…Paul’s great! He bright, talented, and a great teacher because he makes what he’s teaching CLEAR, SIMPLE and EXCITING….what a GIFT!
This riff is also beautiful, just like the one from your video about the Open D Tuning. I love how calm it is
I absolutely love these types of videos. You're one of my favorite guitarists on youtube. Much love :)
This is so beautiful Paul! Very soothing and thought reflecting! Thank you good sir.
Epic lesson. What a great way to gradually elaborate in real time, explaining everything so clearly.
I picked up guitar about 11 months ago and I’m playing the most beautiful and heavenly things and about 60% of them is all thanks to Paul. I can’t thank you enough for your influence. I have all your courses and each one teaches something new. Thank you 🙏
“Ethereal” is the word that comes to mind. Simply amazing work, Paul!

man, I wish I had a fraction of your music understanding. It all sounds so easy when you explain it, yet I can't understand it when I take my guitar and try to think the way you do. I'm in a way desparate not to have your talent, yet thankful you have this talent and share it with us. Keep sharing, you're a source of inspiration for many of us.
Man you've managed to create something truly unique with your channel. Your music, smooth voice and the calming visuals make a magical combo. Not only do these videos make me learn to play guitar but they give that special feeling that life's pretty good 😊 What's more, I just had the most refreshing nap with your videos playing on the background 😃 Thanks!
Tend to smile when I watch your work. Glad you are still playing, creating and explaining.
Stunning left hand work, just sublime.
Thank you for sharing Paul. Amazing as always.

Paul breaks down how to successfully write beautiful post-rock. (the 16th-not4 variation is the sweet-spot of what I'd like to hear in a great post-rock piece) Magnificently done!

So beautiful. It brought me tears😌
Beautiful, simple demo and lovely playing as usual, Paul.
High quality video Paul. You always share your knowledge with great examples and leave the student to improvise around it for themselves. You have taught me a very great deal about triads, and how easily they can make beautiful sounds. Thank you
I love this magical and serious but amazing Type of your videos! Thank you!

Been quite a a lot happen over the last month or so, some the greatest moments of my life (the birth of my daughter) and some the hardest, almost losing her and mum, family and covid. But your videos have helped inspire me to pick up the guitar again and out those feelings into lyrics - which is helping to focus that lost and desperate place into a manageable, productive and relatable one. Thank you sir, the absolute best to you and yours. T

Yk all I can say is THANK YOU, I've only been playing about a year (5 months properly tho) and I've been struggling with what to learn. Looking for cool solos.
