Onward and upward with our first wave New York hardcore survey. We've already heard Heart Attack, Bad Brains, The Abused, Kraut, Antidote, Urban Waste, Agnostic Front and False Prophets. Now we listen to The Mob. They began in Jackson Heights, Queens as a Van Halen style cover band, but that all changed when they saw Bad Brains. Their first gig was actually opening for Bad Brains on June 5, 1981 at the BC club. On December 18, 1982 they played an all ages matinee with Minor Threat and Urban Waste at CBGB's for $3 admission. If I remember correctly I could not get in 'cause it was sold out with no room inside. Ralph Gebbia vocals Jack Flanagan guitar Jose Gonzalez bass and Jamie Shanahan drums. When I think of classic NYC hardcore this is one of the records that pops into my mind. From 1982. Nine songs in nine minutes. REV IT UP AND LET'S GO. A1 Crucial Point A2 We Can A3 N.Y. Slam A4 Dr. Butcher A5 Pinstripe Suit B1 Label It B2 101 B3 Common Criminal B4 Fight For Right

Back in 2000 I got an AF tat, though in reality I should've gotten either a Mob or Urban Waste tat in hindsight really

has it ever occurred to you that more than one band in the entire world in an age before the internet could share a somewhat generic band name?
