Fun fact, the IIIE in game is over a full ton heavier than the IIIC. Ballistic computer, an "improved" radar and flares in exchange for an average loss of .093 thrust to weight ratio across all fuel loads. Doesn't seem like alot, but in jets, thrust to weight ratio is a good indicator of energy retention. Which, neither of the Mirage's are especially good at due to wing design, but the IIIE is incredibly hard to play because after dodging two missles because your flares aren't guaranteed to work, you are slow and practically dead. TLDR: if you're playing Air RB and you want to play a Mirage, play the IIIC

I began to painfuly grind the French air tree, reached rank V which is incredibly painful, no good premium to help at this br, no good jets appart the Mystere IIc on min fuel (which is a beast and can really surprise you and the enemy with it's maneuverability and energy retention, definitely recommend it), and now I am not even sure that the Mirage are worth the grind anymore,which makes me really sad because these are some of my favorite planes ever :(

@@pierricus1399 In its current state the Mirage IIIE is not worth it but the Mirage IIIC is well worth it I have about 800 battles in and its just insane, watch phlydaily's videos on it, its an amazing plane

IRL a Mirage IIIE managed to intercept a U-2 using its SEPR booster. Apparently the centerline pylon at least on the IIIE is supposed to be able to hold a Magic as well. Regarding the overall situation I can only say that Mirage 5/50 or other variants of that family/series are long overdue by now.

@@aureliencostabeber8532 Mirage 5 has 5 hardpoints just like Jaguar. The weaponry would possibly less advanced in regard to missiles but it can still carry up to 14 bombs. The air-to-air performance in game would be much the same as Mirage III. Mirage 50 carries the same Engine and Radar as Mirage F.1 and is aerodynamically improved if I am not mistaken.

The Magic 2 was around by the mid 1970s, so i think it would be fair to give the IIIE a modification for Magic 2s

The mirage IIIc is my number 1 vehicle in game for both victories and air kills. Even if it only has 3 AAM, they are currently the best a2a weapons in game. The Magic 1 are insane and the 530s (I play around with both versions. Each have their use cases) always make me laugh when I boop someone out of the sky from miles away or SARH jousting. I love the maneuverability of the mirage IIIc, it feels so good in 1v1, I’m not really scared of anything in those situations except maybe a j35 because they do what I do better (I don’t think I’ve had an opportunity to 1v1 a J7e yet). I personally prefer the additional agility over countermeasures. We shall see how it holds up to the viggen, probably won’t but that’s okay the mirage was one of the best fighters in game for over a year (IMO of course).

I love the mirage but as it stands i would rather have the f4e mig21 bis f5e or j7e the mirage 3 doesnt have countermeasures so all some has to do is fire a missle or 2 and you will have lost all your energy plus the mirage 3e loses the best thing about the c variant it really just isnt a great air craft i love the air craft and you can make it work but there are multiple better options

@@kayonicks I have something like 300ish games in the IIIc, over 550 air kills and 250 deaths. I still love the plane but yeah other planes have definitely had more of my attention recently. I had the luxury of playing the F-5a before America got theirs, and that thing was the bee’s knees when it was the only freedom fighter with a 5-1 K:D for a while. J7e was my favorite plane of red skies, but oddly enough the mig23 is now my best K:D jet, and that was mostly before r60m, I never understood all the hate for the mig23. Right now I’m grinding f4ej kai followed by viggen.

In order to effectively use the mclos missiles turn on relative controls it makes them 100x easier to use

Relative controls makes it so the missile returns to center run when you let off the guidance keys. So inseated of just adding more and more turn degree to the missile you are more like just moving it in orthagonal space relative to your front view. Makes it 100x easier to guide mclos missiles.

Great in depth review! Very conprehensive as well, matches my experience with the IIIC so far. I especially like the comparison of the Mirage in RL and in WT. This was the first video of you that I saw, definitely will watch some more later on!

1:42 that's solely down to the fact that this jet is French. That's litteraly it. And that's the same for everything else made by the French sadly.

Btw, smaller missile bore sight = less flare susceptibility, so it's never a disadvantage imo, the larger R-60 bore sight just makes it the easiest to trick

Thanks to this review I realized why I always got wrecked in matches with this plane I was just playing it wrong

It is a shame Gaijin (like eveytime for French planes) don't tweak and make the plane like he are in the real life! The Mirage 3 was the best of his génération. He was sells at many nations in little quantity. He's famous strenghts was to able fly to mach 2 and have a superb accélération and climb who are not the case in the game. They are made for be light,fast and agile like Etendard who are heavy slugish in game with bugged flight model syndrome as French (super bleed speed+ bad rudder); only his acceleration save him for be a trash.

A lot come from propaganda and over hype, in game they use the correct caracteristics

Just unlocked this yesterday. I looked at their Excel spreadsheet for cost revision and just took a break after getting to the new RP cost. It's a nice change of pace after flying another Jaguar and struggling through the French F100, but not having flares matters a lot more than it used to. It's another plane that I'll probably stick with mostly because I like how it looks.

Review the Jaguar A or Jaguar GR.1 later. They are fine multiroles.

You should grind it out the French tree for the Mirage IIIC and Jagaur A then the USSR tree for the Mig 23/27M

@@CatWachristmashat Try to fly with your team, fly around 2-3K, I say this because you dont have access to RWR so you are reliant on eyesite spotting of SARH(AIM 7's and whatever the russians have) so high alt is dangerous, If I go high, I often die from unseen missles. I try to get rid of the 530, either by shooting up for a radar locked belly shot or an unsuspecting player at my alt. The 550 Magics are my favorite and best heat seeking missle in game (IMO), you can get away with alot of shots you cant normally take with other missles, use them wisely, you only get two. The Mirage is capable to some pretty tight, high G turns but in response, you bleed your speed/energy incredibly fast, so try taking sustained turns when your not in a dogfight to preserve your speed/energy since you dont build it back up as fast as some other aircraft at the tier. The DEFA's are really good in my experience, if you hit them and you dont get a kill, you will crit them.

@@CatWachristmashat Dont turn hard unless you really need to. Mirages keep a suprising amount of speed in smooth turns, tapping the W key to pitch down for a sec will help save you a lot of that precious energy which doesn't come easy in them.

good video. also worth mentioning that the 30mm has horribly slow projectile velocity compared to most of the opponents. you need to lead alot more.

It seems similar to the draken in that the draken and the mirage can be countered if you know what to do, turn in a loop at least 270 degrees avoiding the first shots and from the hard pull they wont even be able to move.

I have got the Mirage III E to go Mach 2 in sim with R550s and no R530 (it was on Dover Straight and took forever, hit mach 2 was out of fuel)

Minor correction: the 3E does *not* have any additional skins. Only the 3C does.

Tested it and reached mach 2.0 on a number of occasions (even with 30 min fuel and 1 missile left) ...but takes a very long time at around 35,000ft +. Obviously, as you say, never get near this in a match.

There is also Mirage IIICJ in Israel tech tree.

Not the F-102 but f-106 maybe. F-102A Delta Dagger entered the active service in May 1957. Mirage III C (first proudction variant) do the same in July of 1961. On the other hand, F-106A Delta Dart joinn USAF by Feb 1960. So Mirage III entered service approximately at same time as F-106, not F-102.

so when did they nerf the flight model of the C and E. I quit playing for a while and started back this week. both are bricks below 400 i almost crashed while landing it wont roll at all it just locks it and you can just go straight also it started bobbing up and down while landing whitout any inputs while the airbrake out and gear it almost feels broken. Is this is an accurate flight model change?

I'm approaching rank 5 in French aircraft, is it worth going down the whole line to grind or should I set my sights on something else? Also I'm a console player, so I don't have access to the marketplace. Love the vid!

Nice video, just one 'but': Magic 1 were a very good missile, and i mean it in real life. South Africans didn't use it correctly, they lunch it from too far or too close. They had the same problem with Mirage F1. You can have the best tool in the world, but when you don't know how to use it, than there it is. Israelis made were better use of these.

I was able to get my 3c to mach 2.01 barely at high altitudes, weird.

I suspect my inability to push mach 2 was pilot error on my part. Wrong altitude, wrong set of upgrades enabled, etc etc. I only tried once with each.

Do you guys recommend french tech tree? I am ,,ending" soviet tech tree and wonder what to do next... i am looking for some American stuff, but not in US tech tree( French, Germany) or something else that's not soviet or Us and still competetive

The tanks I would say are almost not worth it, they are a hell hole of a grind to get through the first few teirs and have an overwhelmingly high repair cost rank 4-5. I don't have them past rank 5 so I can't really give you an opinion on that. I do know of accounts that people say rank 6 if fun but frustrating and rank 7 is wonderful. For planes I recommend fighters off the bat for rank 1-2, the 20mm cannons are fun and very beginner friendly. Rank 3-4 go for the intercepter/naval aircraft. These are things such as the p63, f4u-7, and the Bearcats. These are a blast and if you are familiar with the American line, you will have a lot of fun. I am close to jets but do not have them yet, the vautour is a beauty of a plane if you don't mind getting missled every now and then and the jet fighters from my understanding are nice, great examples being the jaguar A, super mystere, and the mirage. Hope this helps!

I play mostly on Air RB, nations i wonder about are: Japan(pretty good VI and VII era ), France(easy nation, but best on low era) and maybe Sweden( the best low era performance)

As of right now , both mirage are obsolete the IIIC lack avionics and CM and the IIIE has that but weight 1000kg more for the same engine power so the sustained turn and AoA are drasticaly worse , they should add the Mirage F1 ASAP but even with it , it'll barely be average and even a bit below average . If we compare it to the viggen the Mirage F1 only has 4 missiles but there are pretty good , still 2 bad canons for the wt meta , a better engine but nothing has crazy as a Mig-21Bis or a MIG-23MLD , agility and energy rétention should be much better but we can't really judge until it's in the game , i'm just a bit sad that France always get their "meta toys" late to the party with such a succesful aircraft industry
