Brilliant video, how can you not love Maggy? He was brought in as an alternate and won his first WSM then took it a further 4 times, absolutely incredible. The guy just seems so humble and down to earth and has a great sense of humour. What I also loved is that he showed that you don't need to be 6` 8" and 30 stone to win WSM!

I was a huge Jon pall fan when I started rewatching the old wsm comps, and I remember when I first saw Magnus I thought he was no Jon pall. He won his first one and I thought he's got nothing on Jon pall. But with each comp I started to really enjoy him not just as an athlete but I loved his contrasting personality compared to Jon pall. He never took my favourite spot from Jon pall but he's in my top four

Watching the farm work clips bring back a lot of memories. I'm 61 now and every time I lift a log or a sandbag it reminds me of loading hay or feedbags as a child. Farm and ranch work definitely builds a solid foundation for strength with so many movement patterns that are used in competition. Really enjoying the bio series. A thought for a video: As someone who's only seen about a year's worth of Strongman since getting into it, I have no idea what sort of progression there's been in the numbers people are lifting in these competitions. Have they all increased? Are there any that have plateaued? It might be a fun stat video for Liz.

"To make a long story short... I fucked up" 😂 I may have just woke up my kids laughing at that bit. Love Magnus! Probably my favorite era, even though I actually started watching Strongman and specifically WSM, in 1998 with Magnus Samuelsson, and Jouko Ahola. Is it as heavy as it is now? No. Is it as stiff competition wise with as many great athletes there are now who are trained specifically for strongman... Hell no. But it was more fun, IMO. Maybe it's the personalities of the athletes or just the trailblazing nature of a competition developing into the sport we all know and love. Probably a bit of both. Magnus is the man who really defined what great Champion is for me in Strongman. He was the guy who first conquered the Heats era of Worlds and he just seemed to get better as the competition went on. Magnus could dig deep from somewhere within himself that other people just didn't have. It's the kind of thing we see in WSM from other great champions like Marius, and Zydrunas, where they will find that will and determination in critical moments that separates them from everyone else. Can't wait to see the next Magnus Ver Magnusson Classic.
