I am 67. I'm glad that gentlemen are about my age peers, yet they play beautiful Bluegrass. I am also a country musician. I add one more art to the art of music - to endure playing music all the life as these gentlemen can it do.

I grew up in NW Illinois. My 3rd Great Grandfather left Virginia in the 1850's, but when I traveled the area in October, 2000 on a Blue Ridge Parkway vacation, I felt like I was "home".

You know, I grew up in Detroit which was a hotbed of country music and saw the likes of Jimmy Martin and the Osborne Brothers in the 50s (I didn't I was born in 54). We had a record store called Harmony House. One day I was in there looking over the country records and I saw Bobby Hicks album Texas Crapshooter filed under Texas Crap. A pox on you Harmony House, and they DID go out of business. Shameful.

There's a well beaten path in the old mountainside Where I wandered when I was a lad And I wandered alone to the place I call home In those Blueridge hills far away Oh I love those hills of old Virginia From those Blueridge hills I did roam When I die won't you bury me on the mountain Far away near my Blueridge mountain home Now my thoughts wander back to that ramshackle shack In those blue ridge hills far away Where my mother and dad were laid there to rest They are sleeping in peace together there I return to that old cabin home with the sigh I've been longing for days gone by When I die won't you bury me on that old mountain side Make my resting place upon the hills so high Author: Certain and Stacey Version: Flatt and Scruggs Discography: Not Available
