The Mars Volta - Soothsayer
I know I'm getting lazy with finding new photos but this track is awesome, so I think that balances it out. This is the 11th track on Bedlam. Enjoy!

Best band ever by far
Probably my favourite song on the album. Such cosmic vibes.
The Mars Volta, The Physics House Band, and Animal Collective are all my Favorite Bands.
I used to not be able to listen to this album alone in my house. Haunted house+Creepy ass music about a demon=not cool. but I couldnt resist the volta
The story behind this album is dead spooky. Gave me chills reading about it.
I love this song so much! I really get lost in it when listening to it.
This has recordings from Jerusalem's Old City The beginning sounds are the Adthan (call to prayer) for Muslims The choir at the end are Christians singing a prayer
fuck the thumbnail made me think it was a live performance of this
4:13 that drum transition
Ouroboros and this track to me sit as 1 track. Excellent music.
great comment man. too many people talk bad about them but not many really understand prog or experimental rock, which these guys embody to the fullest. you've obviously been listening to them for a while though so i'm not telling you anything new. Live performance is the best if any of you ever get the chance
its thomas flowing around a simple piano meolody hes switching between lots of things and just grooving...drummer thing you know...making the song funky
I just here to say I'm a big fan. I was inspired by Jon Theodore and then also a big fan of gospel chops, so when I found out Thomas Pridgen was playing drums I flipped out! Two birds with one stone. I saw them live with Theodor and now I can't wait to see them with Pridgen! I'm not here to criticize or compare dudes, just here to say they rock!
the strings at the end are gorgeous. epic record.
Each day I love more Mars Volta.
this is by far the hardest song to play on drums on TBIG. if anyone could play the verse i salute you!
I LOVE THIS!
The melodies are very meditative... ...
they are the greatest band in the universe. I love them so much.
Fantastique !
Probably my favorite song on Bedlam
this is the best song on the album for sure
Heavy stuff.... Spiritism music.
why so much hate? It's Mars Volta playing what they feel. I don't think any deity would have a problem with it. And yeah, Cedric's voice is pretty weird but that's Volta for you
Man this song is so fucking good. Kills it
Your so right. It took me so long to get used to Ced's voice. Amazing range, just the sound of it is weird - amazing.
Best tmv song.
They're great. They remind me of a '70s multiethnic Italian progressive rock band called Area...
awesome drawing dogg
best on new album in my opinion
Indeed.... If you want something else from the De-Loused genre, play some De-Loused..... None of the Volta songs get old anyway. That's part of what keeps them fresh and keeps the real fans . They have so many different awesome songs that The Volta is seriously all I listen to now. I can find a set of songs to fit any mood.
thomas is amazing!!!
i love the magic in this song- ancient knowledge.. its what a lot of tmv is about IMO. ya deloused was great, but they all are . they are evolving as any great band does. (but arent we aLL evolving..?)
2:15 The Mars Volta featuring Claptrap.
my god, this song is so awesome, i always try to play it in the drums but mars volta has so weird rythms, they're awesome
powa!
Estoy completamente de acuerdo contigo :)
great, great song. does anyone where know a source of that first image?
spirit-fire with all of space as a canvas...
i just wanna know HOW COME THEY HAVENT PLAYED THIS LIVE? it would be so awesome!
The 8 people that don't like this song are CraZeEEYYYYyyy!!! Mars Forever!!
Does anyone hear something that sounds like "hahaha you see my pain" in the first four seconds of the song? its a mans voice and different then all of the other backround voices.
these images and this track tripped me the fuck out
bien!!
I heard this when I had pneumonia and a fever of 40 degrees
coil & embrace
@Dylazodelan I'm one of the rare ones who fell for buckethead looking for this song....I love both
......It's the millenium's Kashmir!!!
@Rupertopple true
everytime cedric starts singing differently it takes me so long to get used to it but in the end i always realize that it suits the music and that's what counts i guess
fuck... isn't there any video of this song live?
i will have to agree that this is one of the albums weaker tracks, although it is quite amazing in its own right. Ourboros, Metatron, and Goliath are my personal favs.
Guitar Solo in beginning sounds like an electric sitar but is not. cool pictures
espero saber algún día del videojuego
Anyone knows how can i get that synth sound at 3:03? you can also hear the same sound in day of the baphomets during the bridge, but i can't understand how it's done.

mariorossipuzza that's actually the sound manipulators, not synth

I think it is done by using some form of frequency modulation
My god, the drummer...
@Ddrummer1103 it's 6/4 followed by 4/4
holy crap i heard that. that was fricken wierd
does someone know in wich time this song is?? i think it's 5/4 or maybe 10/4
The drumming is other-dimensional.
If you think Buckethead's boring, you've heard near nothing from what he's done. There's plenty of emotion in the nine-minute anthem Soothsayer. If you think he can't do soul, look up Machete or take a listen to the whole album Colma, about one of the most depressing/calming CDs I've ever heard. I'll go easy on you because you obviously have no idea who or what Buckethead is. Buckethead is one man's life and emotion and spirit channeled into an electric guitar for all the world to hear.
I want the first picture, how can I get it? D:

is it adzan in the beginning?
LSD music !
It's so god D@mned good it makes me want to pull my skin off.
high as a fuckin kite
@zoraliciousful how is this a rip off?? the two songs dont sound anything alike, they just happen to have the same name. this stuff happens all the time
This song is cursed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The whole album is
thomas is a fucking badass. FUCK
So what if I idolize him. What if the generation that rocks now grew up without the idols they know and love? Just because I listened to this song out of decent curiosity doesn't mean I need a hippie to coach me on my vibes.
saw them toronto--i fuckin creamed 5 times!!!!!!
Is this a cover of a Wayne Shorter song
2
=[ I really liked Tourniquet Man. I thought it was the most "normal" track on the album, a different direction for TMV.
@SixStringSolid That's kinda what I meant. But then songs sounded nothing alike and I had to get that troll off of my ass. I kinda like the Volta. But I like playing Buckethead songs more.
buckethead?
Yeah, but awesome songs make up for it.
is that not the exact same thing as 5/4???
this make me so angri it sucks so much that i would be happy if them was voiceless
Fly shit
God forbid someone have the same song title as someone else...
ok mr. wnb Buckethead, first of if you are such a #1 fan try to write the song names right ok? second how does bucketheads soothsayer affect to this song in any kind? (btw I´m a Buckethead fan also)
buckethead kicks this song ass
i thought it was 10/8? oh well....it doesnt really matter, tmv is great!
could be...TBiG is a great album.
I think his pitch control has actually greatly improved. Deloused was alright, but Tremulant he was always flat, Frances he was always sharp, Amputechture was just terrible, but this one's alright.
I wonder what would drive a person to have the mentality that these guys have. Look up the lyrics, this craps insane.
why?
hmm I dont think you are really giving him a chance if you think his songs are similar. look up some of his performances in praxis, thats really where hes at his best imho.
woi ada azan!!!!!!!!!
thumb up if you get lost in an ocean inside of your mind when you hear this... fucking acid :S
lol
@joke666ful nop, what you are watching is much better than that.
yeah i liked de-loused but i prefer Frances as in my opinion there best album and Bedlam as their second best...de-loused was good, dont get me wrong but its my least favorit but i still have it in my cd player every now and then. and live shows kick so much ass, TMV forever
@StopRunningKid So a random youtube user will say this song is a piece of shit.. oh.. i suddenly don't like it anymore :o Really think you can tell whats shit and whats not on music? just say you don't like it, its def. better than anything you could ever make.
@xInDiieKiiDx Wow, you want to hear choppy cut up avant-garde music like this where it's impossible to follow along, and you call Buckethead boring. I like the Mars Volta a lot, but this my friend is boring.
thumbs up if you think this was a soothsayer by buckethead
Well at least someone agrees that Amputechture(vocals) was horrible...I went on the Comatorium and said that, I got attacked by everyone...
The Comatorium is not for constructive criticism, it is for praise, and while that's fun sometimes, I grow quickly tired of it... good rarities though.
Btw, BH's Soothsayer is so boring and dull compared to this

Lol. Definitely not boring. But maybe you were just trolling!
