As a musician, I can say that when you're emotionally attracted to a song, you can fire play it even two minutes after you wake up after a long rough night. However I like so much your opinion about them being warmed up at the too beginning, you just gave me a new way of thinking about music, thank you so much.

If you want to be more stunned, The Doors never had a bass player either. They used the Moog Taurus pedal to emulate the bass. Geddy Lee would use it as well whenever he had to play keys. It's very noticeable in live performances of Tom Sawyer.

For sure when a musician is happy and smiling while playing there’s something extra special about their music…. These folks all tend to have permagrins too while playing… Wes Montgomery, Bobby McFerrin, Mick Fleetwood, Vulfpeck’s awesome bassist, George Clinton etc.
Still one of the most amazing performances I've seen.

Dear KEXP and to Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, have to immediately thank you guys for this upload before I miss the chance because this video incidentally set my computer on fire... my room is burning right now and is about to incinerate me along with it. I love how they ventured off into that overdrive solo and abruptly dropped back into a clean pocket groove. It's like passing cars on interstate, let's try and blow the engine for a sec and then drop right back into cruise control.
At about 10 mins into the video, the guitarist takes a solo on the song “Memphis.” It’s the most soulful, funky, heartfelt solo I’ve seen anyone play live. That man is a true inspiration in my book.
Usually video's like these have comments praising almost exclusively one person in the group. But here I've seen comments praising the organ player, the guitarist, the drummer and the sound technician. That's how you know it is a truly excellent performance.

Round of applause for the audio engineer - spot on!
When I noticed the drummer looks at the organist, the guitarrist looks at the drummer and the organist looks at both, it is a literal trio

Took me a minute to realize he was playing those fat bass lines on the organ's foot pedals. Rad.
@mongofan1

Beautiful fat bass lines. That's not his left hand on the lower register? Plus foot pedals, maybe? Seemed like his left hand was playing the bass line. I don't play keys and don't really know the organ.
@mongofan1
6 жыл бұрын
Oh, I think I see what you're saying. At about 12:17 there's a good shot of his feet playing the line. So, is he able to modulate or 'bend' notes by varying how far down he presses? Seems like there's more to the bass line than what I would've imagined was possible with feet on pedals. Sweet, in any case.
@keysey72

I've only just discovered these guys and I love em! Being a Hammond player myself I noticed he's doing the bass lines with both left hand and foot which is the classic way the jazzers did/do it. Many would just play short staccato stabs on a single pedal to add a string bass type attack (rather than for the note) to the left hand bass.

This is special
Ive been playing guitar for over 28 years and drums even longer - I have rarely gotten as excited as this over some funky rhythms and beats on YT. These guys are tight, but not plastic-wrapped tight. When I saw the thumbnail for this clip I just knew good things were in store; the guitarist pulls out a total BoG-era Hendrix-inspired lead (15:08) on that last track - efffin scorching tone! And you can't beat a Hammond, Gretsch and Ampeg combo, such a classic mid-60s setup. Gonna give it a 7th run thru now.....

"Hammond, Gretsch and Ampeg combo" What does that mean? Can u explain how he makes his strat sound the way it does (for people who are not that familiar with too much guitar tech talk)? Would be much appreciated!
@yargnad
5 жыл бұрын
@@philippkittmann4752 The organ is a Hammond B3 with a Leslie speaker, the drums are made by Gretsch (killer vintage drumkit) and the guitar amp is an Ampeg, which are very loud and proud to say the least. He is basically using an overdrive pedal to boost the Stratocaster's signal so loudly that the amp starts to really scream. This is something that naturally happens with tube amps when you've dialed it in properly and then kick the overdrive on. Its hard to get that sort of tone at normal volume levels, the amp really needs to be fairly loud for the tubes and speakers to respond like this.
Killer drummer.

I swear I have had this clip on repeat for the last week. I just cannot stop listening to it. I want to single out each band member for their performances, but I don’t want to take away from any other performance. They’re all equally talented, and just jam so well together. Jimmy’s wailing solos are out of this world. Delvon’s keys are immaculate and mind bending David is a machine. His timing is impeccable. I’m thankful to have discovered this group.
