Tripping to this is insane. If you close your eyes you seriously feel like your being thrown through time throughout the song.

This one and Luciforms off of Octahedron are the 2 most menacing Volta tracks ever committed to tape IMO. Love em both. I still think this album might be slightly cursed though. Haha.

On a trip in Jerusalem, Rodriguez-Lopez purchased an archaic ouija-type talking board at a curio shop as a gift for Bixler-Zavala. Dubbed "The Soothsayer", the board revealed stories, gave names and made demands, as the band was contacted by three different people who appeared in the form of one, who was then referred to as "Goliath". Yeah one of if not the most cursed album I've ever heard lol

The Mars Volta is aeons ahead of all of us. We will be withered and gone when the public truly appreciates what's going on in these songs. I say this because they set a bench mark in musical complexity that is unrivaled, unbeatable in their own game. Viva la volta!

That switching 6-5 meter is seriously the backbone of this song. But then the transition into a new theme at 6 minutes in just takes it to the next level. I have been listening to this album since 2009, and I still can't figure out what these guys saw that created this; but whatever it was it was absolutely terrifying and awe-inspiring in the same.

compairing mars volta albums is impossible because they each have a different sound... everytime you listen to one of their albums you find a new favorite song or breakdown or solo... and yeah to say ones better then another is kind of impossible if you really really really love the volta Tremulant EP= AMAZING Deloused= AMAZING Francis= AMAZING Amputechure= AMAZING and BELAM IN GOLIATH=.....AMAZING!!!!

I absolutely love how he says "It's only a matter of folding time and space." Because the earth is ginormous and it as a hard time bending time and space, the sun gets there and even though black holes do a better job, as far as I know, the only special thing they do is tell time and space to switch roles and form a prison to all matter and energy.

AnteConfig The entity they contacted wanted them to fold time and space, using music. I think the entity wanted a new body to possess, and through this album, through the act of engraving itself into the music and eliminating time and space by creating a single moment when you listen, it can reach more people. Then again, when I was really into the Mars Volta, I was also into tripping and the occult. I've only recently come back to it because of a post I've seen about this album being influenced by a demon. The strange thing is I sort of thought the same thing in the past. what does it mean by "warning all who pass this note"? "It's only a matter of folding time and space before I become your epidemic"

I'd say they're taking the same sort of sound they had in Amputechture and perfecting it. Amputechture was a dissapointment, admittedly this is not as different from Amputechture as all the previous albums have been from each other, but it is certainly a big step up from Amputechture and not a disapointment.

Does anyone know why they never perform this song live? I can't find any evidence of any kind of them ever playing this, and their site used to have a list of all their songs and a number of times performed live on each song, and this one never went above 0 that I saw.

Nothing actually, Ive watched an interview where he States that most of his lyrics are meaningless and don't make sense...he just likes the way they sound together. It kinda turned me off on ' for a while but whatever.
