Great rock drummers recently: Danny Carey, Matt Cameron, Josh Freese, Jon Theodore. He's one of the elite and his time with this band was a golden age for us. Sometimes I think might burst into flames from being so bad ass. He channels Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, with a touch of John Bonham. into this great band. Vintage and soooo relevant.

I saw them in '08 and it's the best concert I've ever been. Heh. Completely sober and yet their jams made me trip.Thomas on drums did an awesome solo, along with everyone else of course haha. But yes, they've gotten better. :)

I know exactly what you mean, but that's because that they are so freakin' original that you just can't get used to such great stuff in the first day you listen to them. Just listen to this! even the drum beat is 100% original! I'm a huge fan of TMV.

What is the point of comparing their old shows to their current shows? Or, even commenting on them? These dudes have been bands since they were teenagers, and have been touring constantly for almost as long. HOW DARE THEY GET TIRED WITH AGE!!! If you think about it, they've been playing/touring for about half their lives. Enjoy their music. Appreciate what they've done and anticipate what they're going to do. Nothing but respect.

If you don't like them live, then stick to listening to their albums. What would be the point of going to a concert of them in the first place if you wanted to hear them just simply play an album exactly the way they recorded it. On a side note, Omar is my sole inspiration for becomming a guitarist in the first place and to see him (to some extent) improving is an absolute treat. These guys work their butts off to really create something beautiful and truly unique, why bash it?

Yeah I agree man, the studio versions are so complex/complicated (the arrangments, syn keyboards everything) its hard to replicate live, but I still love their live performances. It's like beer, you have to develop a taste for it
