The Mandalorian Tatooine Diorama with Speeder Bike and Stormtrooper Heads
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This Mandalorian diorama is over 3' long and I wanted to incorporate the speeder bike design from Gambody as well as a few iconic Tatooine features, such as the canopy and those stormtrooper helmets on spikes and buried in the dust.
Speeder bike file from Gambody (www.gambody.com/3d-models/spe...)
Stormtrooper heads from Prusa (www.prusaprinters.org/prints/...)

"The stormtroopers go into bobble-head mode... it's very funny" she says smiling, as the severed heads of her enemies sway side to side...
WOW this is amazing! 😃 Seeing you standing next to the diorama really shows how impressive this model is. It's huge! The diorama really highlights how well you painted the Mandalorian, the metal, his clothing everything is spot on. Keep up the awesome work, if this is the quality of videos you make for 2021 I suspect this will be a very good year for you 😉

Thanks Luke! I do love big dioramas but keeping them in the house is a challenge. Happy New Year.

👍🏻 Cool to see another awesome diorama person make a comment on another. I probably watched almost all of your videos and I don’t even build model railroads. My father did a few times. I still have one of his that was half done, no real scenery just the early parts like the basic land, track laid out and runs, maybe 4x6 feet. It was HO scale for a railroad roundhouse. I still have a bunch of his trains and cars and models still in the packaging, all vintage but really nice. He called it Polecat Creek. A polecat is a skunk or weasel LOL. My brother and I hope to one day try and complete it, we’ll probably use videos like yours and hers to get a clue how to make it look awesome.
Holy crap.... I’ve been build models for 40 years now... I believe I’m pretty good at it...the tile grout thing is brilliant.. I would have never thought of that...amazing job.. thanks for teaching an old dog a new trick..!!!

I use it all the time and even when I try other products, I still end up coming back to it as it’s so easy and cheap.
Stunning! This could be a real set for a movie scene!!!

Cool. Well done. The bobble to the Troopers helmets makes it look like you could feel a hot dry breeze blowing them.
This turned out pretty sick. 10/10
Beautiful work Kathy... I love the child in the pouch,,,,
The 62 people who dislike this are clearly jealous this isn’t a part of heir collection
Beautifully done, you should be in movies
Absolutely incredible! Still can't get over how good Mando looks, those speeder bike prints were so clean too
Really pretty and so satisfying to watch. Very peaceful. Thank you

Ms Kathy Millatt you are quite simply a masterful craftsman and brilliant artist. I was completely captivated by your skill, perfection, and if I'm honest your exquisite feminine hands and gorgeous red hair :) Cheers!
As an artist myself, you've done a fantastic job with this one, dear. This would make any Star Wars fan happy to own.🥰🥰
I like the use of the jetpack to hide the stand. I think acrylic would have looked out of place. Well done!
this Diorama really completes it!
WOW. Amazing....I love this show too.
wow..nice..a lot of work and materials..and patience..
What an awesome diorama. Keep up the great work you do and thanks for sharing your videos.
Holy wow…. Truly an amazing artist.
Awesome, thank you for sharing your wonderful art and modelling.
Thanks for sharing this with us! The video quality is excellent as well!
Wow! Really impressive build.
Amazing work. How are people thumbs-downing this?
Well done, Kathy. Impressive and very inspiring job. Regards from Poland
Awesome, that could be at the Disney World Park in a museum area.
outstanding job. To hide the main bike pole, I would connect the bike to the vertical wall with an horizontal, sturdy pin, reducing the distance between the bike and the wall at the minimum . very great job. I love it
@KathyMillatt

Thanks! The bike was heavy enough to bend the vertical rod so I suspect something from the side would need to be very strong.
Great job with the Stormtrooper helmets. I will need to get myself a 3d printer to make accessories for my 1/6 figures.
KZread just suggested your channel to me this morning and I literally just watched your first Mandalorian video maybe 30 minutes ago and have been watching your other videos. Amazing work! Thanks for the great content!
THIS DIORAMA " AWESOME" this is a thing I watch almost all STAR WARS movies, some movies I even try NO to watch because I know are BAD, BUT THE MANDALORIAN series IS MY FAVORITE STAR WARS CHARACTER and is the only I want to collect. If I have the half of your talent. I make my own statue collection. BEAUTIFUL AMAZING JOB. CONGRATULATION FROM 🇵🇷
I just want to say you do some amazing work. Very inspiring

This video literally made me feel like a child again! AMAZING WORK! Great attention to detail.
Those washes are excellent.
Absolutely gorgeous work.
Absolutely Amazing
My dad used to make models, nice to watch someone else do it. Brings back memories from childhood. On the speeder bike stand, maybe a thin mirror? The old magicians trick, place it in front angled down so it reflect the floor. Might work as the floor and the wall are roughly the same colour. Just a thought.

Interesting idea. Thank you.
Maybe a mirror piece angled in front of the spike toward the sand would give the illusion of floating. Your diorama looks amazing!

Interesting idea!
It's not just the artistry, it's the level of communication which makes this so watchable. Honest about the setbacks, modest about the results, perfect explanation of every stage. Not since Bob Ross have I seen a 'how to' produced with such love.
Hiya Kathy. I was surfing on youtube this morning (USA, est), and I came upon your Mandalorian diorama. Truly amazing work. I was blown away by the amount of time, effort and attention to detail you put into making sand and dust look like, well...sand and dust lol. I couldn't hit that like button fast enough and you now have a new subscriber from "across the pond" lol. Stay healthy and God bless.
I actually said "holy shit" out loud when you first showed the 3d printed speeder, I totally underestimated the size. The rest of this video did not disappoint. Absolutely incredible work. I need this for the mantle!
Great dio. Got to love them bobbly decapitated stormtrooper heads.
Wow great work. Fantastic 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇧🇪 greetings from Belgium.
Fantastic diorama, all the best, Garry
Unbelievable work
A true work of art!!!!!!
These are so cool! For the speeder support, you could do a few things. The easiest would be a support that doesn't go straight down, but goes out to the background before going down, and then comes back. That way you can hide it behind a box (maybe even print a box as part of the support), or as a pipe that fits into the background (say a drain pipe that comes down to just above the ground, and the support becomes the bottom), or something like that. That way it doesn't look like you're trying to hide something. And when it comes back to the base, carve a channel for it to hide in and then cover that part of the support with sand (you would want a square mount for that so it lays flat). The other option would be using magnets to make it levitate, but that would be tricky to get the positioning just right. And I'm not sure how those levitating objects do it, but I think you might need a magnet above and below to get it to work. So you might put an awning or something like that to hide the top magnet.

The speeder bike is so heavy it bent the resin pole it is on so it would have to be substantial supports to hold it from the side. Having recently done magnets in a video, they are not as easy as everyone makes out. I’m not sure I’d want to try them on such a heavy bike.
Great work! You're a wizard Kathy!
I lift my hat... This is very very well done.
Absolutely love it awesome job I am a big fan of your channel and bug fan of the Mandalorian
Great work of art ! Greetings from Brazil
a very lovely diorama
STUNNING
Congrats! The work it's very realistic , badass your work!
you paint better than i can

Thanks. It’s great to show the process from start to finish.
Incredible talent. Respect 😎👍
This is simply outstanding work! It is so realistic that it looks like a screen shot. Thanks for sharing this helpful and inspiring diorama.
To hide posts I usually use thin metals rods mounted at the very bottom of the base. The thinner surface area makes them easier to camouflage. Some shrubbery or rocks works well too.
@KathyMillatt
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I only had springy rods and was worried they’d bend over time. Next time I’ll go shopping before I need to mount something.
@pepleatherlab3872

@@KathyMillatt It is tricky because the thin metal rods require a bit of an inverted 'T' to give them stability when mounted into wood or foam. Dioramas can be tricky buggers. Thanks for the post.

Fabulous Scene with the Mandalorian... I mean, so realistic...You should maybe do some diorama for 1/6 hot toys/sideshow figures that could go in a detolf ikea display and sell it. I will be here like probably many others. THX for that video.
Underrated, amazing job!
This is brilliant work and some great tips and tricks there. You are truly a skilled model maker. I have just looked you up and now realise where I have heard your voice before... The Great Model Railway Challenge. And I liked and SUBSCRIBED.
That's awesome! Quick pro-tip if I may give you one: For under vehicle dust, try grinding some brown chalk (like the ones in school) if you can find it, and apply that... It doesn't even need any adhesive medium, it just stays on by itself, and it is great for that dusty look.

nice professional model building!
interesting and informative . I too make dioramas, but with me it involves industrial plants and model steam engines that actually work. as realistic as possible. Not to everybody's taste but something I enjoy
👏👏👏incredible!!!!! Thank you for share it it’s awesome.
Hi Kathy,i enjoyed watch this , i dont realize until you finished and the time pass really fast..many questions, many dubts..but is part of the magic.Tks..(sorry my English)

Supercool! Love this. Grogu seems to be looking forward a lot to a little speeder bike ride with his daddy.
Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.
Priceless!
What a brilliant build. The diorama looks wonderful.
Brilliant! The difference between a technician and an artist! Your weathering is the best I've seen. I think you should work for ILM!
This was simply an enthralling process to watch as it unfolded, and your voice-over was incredibly clear and precise. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
EXCELLENT DIORAMA
I absolutely love you narrating in the video. excellent job it was very educational and entertaining .
Great job, and such attention to detail.
I love these larger scale dioramas. Fantastic end result!
Absolutely BRILLIANT! A real show piece. I guess I am definitely going to have to break down and get a 3D printer. There's so much cool Star Wars stuff to be had that way.
😍beautiful ... I'm doing a razor crest right now😊
Very impressive piece!
Greeting from Jacksonville, Florida. What a wonderful and amazing diorama. I live to build model's but never did a diorama. Your video has inspired me to try. I thoroughly enjoyed the video, it was professional and very informative. You done an amazing job Ms. Kathy, I had to subscribe to your channel after I watched it. This really made my day. Thank you.👍👍
Absolutely brilliant!!!!
For attaching the speeder bike, you could lean the jet pack next to it but then run some wire from a clothes hanger through the jet pack and into the speeder bike. That will make it stand without any sign of a support.

WOW! What a beautiful build. And at such a large scale. Great Job!!
Brilliant piece! Enjoyed this video
That's amazing work!! Love it.
amazing!! a lot of great tips! now to buy my own 3D printer! Thx for sharing!
Wonderful model and diorama Kathy, Thank you so much for building it, I use to use either a metal rod to support my model builds and find a way of hiding it as much as possible from the main sight line or clear acrylic rod, used that on the Airfix (I think) kit of the Imperial Speeder Bike from Return of the Jedi, looking forward to your next video, take care, stay safe and Happy New Year to you and the family.

@@KathyMillatt Hi Kathy, I forgot to say I always found I had to make sure there was as much support as possible within the model for either the metal or acrylic rod, sometimes it was easy with most kits being in two halves, it's been 25 years or so since I last sat down and built a kit, no amazing 3D printers back then, it would have been considered pretty sci fi to be able to print your own model kit at home, I assume it would be possible to print a strong internal support base for a rod to fit into the model if it was not a solid piece like The Mandalorian speeder, I'm sure your creative mind will have fun figuring it out, once again thank you for all your builds, I miss my train sets and making models so I do look forward to your videos and your dioramas, they are just so wonderful.
Wow, I love your work! Its awe-inspiring
worth waiting for. Also you could print a mount for the speeder bike in clear resin for example and just sand and polish it clear so it will be super difficult to even see.
@KathyMillatt

They do supply mounts to print in clear and I did wonder whether it would be a better idea but this was one mount and that would have been two. I probably should have tried it.
BRAVO!!! Pure joy to watch you work and the results, stunning! Blessings
INCREDIBLE! This was very helpful to see your exact layering process on this!
Being a long time action figure collector who has just recently started sharing videos of my collection online, I have to say: you, my friend, are an artist! Dioramas such as this sure embellish anyone's collection. Thanks for sharing! Great job👍💫Cheers Kathy!
