I love modelling - scenery, model rail, terrain, sci fi, military - and I want to share with you how you can make your own scenes like these.
Scenery can look hard to do but it isn’t and on each video I’m going to show you how I make these stunning dioramas.
I post a full diorama build at least once a month so if you want to know more subscribe and hit the bell button so you know when the next video is up.

Wow nice work 😊😊
I had terrible luck with XTC and taking forever to harden completely. Even after several weeks, I. had a few pieces that remained "sticky" when pressed. And yes, I had measured corectly when I mixed up the resin. It flashed in the expected time but didnt harden completely :(
I’ve never tried it so thanks for sharing your experiences.
LOL even in the future Taxi's are yellow. Thank you for sharing your craft. GOD bless you.
Some things never change!
What would you recommend for 1/6 scale 12 inch figures say on boots and helmets of a soldier. Which paste would you recommend for larger 1/6 scale?
I think the pastes I tested are all pretty similar in scalability so whichever one gives the colour you like and you can get hold of. I’d add microballoons over the top whilst it’s wet if you want a newer snow finish.
Where could i buy this
This is a Faller kit.
So glad someone else does spray putty! I usually print at highest res for my FDM printer (0.1 on a Voxelab Aquila X2), and then hit it with the filler primer. I think I might switch to the spray putty for the much larger surfaces of the models I print as it seems to be more efficient at filling the layer lines. Thank you for sharing this with us, and the comparisons were a huge help in explaining both what to expect in regards to orientation on the print bed and what’s involved with the other techniques.
I find spray putty really useful for larger areas.
Waow, the effects are amazing ! Thank you for sharing the process !
Thank you!
Thanks Kathy, I found your video just in time. I was in my local model shop sharing a couple of photos of the forest I had built on my layout. My layout has taken about five years to build and runs right around the room; the forest takes up nearly one wall in the room; it had taken about a year to build and I was pleased with it. Another customer looked and said, 'Is your layout DC or DCC?' I told him him it was DC. He said, 'Ah well, you're just playing at trains aren't you. You can't have a serious layout unless it's DCC and you're wasting your time making things like that.' And then he walked off. I've hardly touched my layout since and when I do his words keep coming back to me. Listening to you though it seems I'm not the only one who's suffered this kind of discouraging abuse. Thanks for the video.
So many people want to feel superior at the expense of others. Please don’t let them ruin your hobby. As long as you are happy and pleased, then that’s all that matters.
Thanks ! This is a great Benchmark. I tried the UV resin method with mix results. In figures it helps a lot to cover the lines but in other cases did not. The main issue is the odour. I'll try spray pytty ! That sounds interesting.
I suspect that different methods suit different models but spray putty is by far the easiest I’ve found.
Hi Kathy, sorry I couldn't make it for the live this month, guess what?, working night-shift again,(this is getting to be a habit), you know how life gets in the way, but thanks for taking the time out for us again, maybe next month, anyway take care, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
No worries! Real life trumps livestreams every time.
You use 2 programs to build models, 0ne is Blender and the other I didn’t hear so good what it is. Hope you can write here?
I used MakeHuman at the start to get a basic person.
Excellent build. Thanks for sticking to 15mm!
Glad you like it!
Thanks for tonight Kathy. Am all new to 3d modelling and I have learnt alot tonight. Roll on for the next show 😊
Glad you found it useful!
@@KathyMillattjust getting all the info before I'll actually start. Last night was brill. But its all new to me, and a learning curve for me but I will get there eventually x
@@richardcrosk6428 All you need is time, modelling is fun
@@KathyMillatt hope you don't mind me asking you this on here but what sort of 3d machine or program I should start off with, se6e I'm a beginners on here? Thanks 👍
it’s a hard one as I only use Blender so don’t know the others. Luke Towan used Tinkercad I think.
Hello in the colors you paint from Tamiya you can paint them one after the other or you have to wait for them to dry, thanks,
I was airbrushing so one after the other is fine. They’re thin coats so probably dry anyway. If you’re brush painting, the coats are thicker and you can drag the layer underneath if they’re not dry enough. A hairdryer can speed that up.
Hello Kathy, wonderful tips on painting your fabulous figures. You have brought the 2D world into a 3D environment with amazingly done results. I'm always impressed with your work and these go away beyond that. Yours, JayCee. 🕊❤️💋🙏
Thank you so much!
Great build, video and presentation.
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it
What paints did you use?
Mostly Vallejo for solids and Army Painter speed paints.
I really enjoyed watching this; you are very skilled and have a great eye for detail. Well done! 😊
Thank you very much!
STL pls :D
I was still learning when I did these so they’re not up to my current standards for sale I’m afraid.
@@KathyMillatt hay una nueva version? o un kit para compartir enlace de compra
@@lukecea I haven't I am afraid. This was larger scale than I normally do - what scale did you want to print at as it was a bit thin in places?
Glad i found you love from the usa!!
Welcome and thank you!
Read your recent scenery book you have some great tips on building layouts thanks
Thank you so much.
Hi Kathy. They look good, ( you can work fast 😅) , late night again 😜. All the best Brian 😃

Oh Wow! Those are really nice. They have amazing sculpts.
Yes they do. Dark Fire are some of the best.
Paul Lindell recommended your channel to me, and I'm glad that he did. Your artistry is inspiring and encouraging. I gave you a subscribe and will be following your channel enthusiastically.
Thank you so much!
They look like a bunch of Kryten's!
🤣🤣🤣
Mt two youngest love Bad Batch. Great job.🤓👍
Thank you! Great you’ve hooked them young!
Thanks Kathy. Looks great. Cheers.
Thank you too!
Use a soft face hammer of some sort when hammering in magnets-they break very easily.
Great tip. Thanks.
@@KathyMillattI subbed! Great channel :^)
is there going to be more 1/6 dioramas ?
I design in 1/48 now so that’s the majority of my work but I’ve loads of other things planned including 1:1 and I’d love to do more 1:6 too.
Great work Kathy, I love the Bad Batch series. Crosshair is my fave.
Me too! He’s so dry.
Great miniatures. Quick question whose brushes and what size were they. Like the long narrow bristles shorter ones seem to dry out too quickly
The one I used the most was a Daler Rowney 10/0 but I used 5-6 brushes so I grab what’s to hand or suits. Long bristles are definitely better for holding paint though.
one of the most boring shows I've ever seen.
I really love it.
At leased you can see the eyes 👀, With me it’s a stab in the dark & 🙏.
I hate eyes! Give me helmets any day.
I always wanted to see a real batch of bad batch ! Thanks for your work and the video.
Thank you so much!
Fantastic job Kathy, love The Bad Batch and love your Pod racer model too.
Thank you very much!
Nice work looking great .
Thank you so much!
Really cool. 👍
Thanks! 👍
Wow this amazing, nice work
Thanks a lot!
Hello Kathy can you help me I'm looking for some sunboard seem to be having trouble finding some of 4 mm to make wings out of plus noticed you ca curl it with heat is there anything else I can use ghats much the same please and love your videos thank you for any help I thought you would be the one to ask many thanks
Hi. I’m not sure what sunboard is I’m afraid. 4mm is quite thick so I’m not sure what would heat well at that thickness to bend. Sorry!
Good points Kathy. In the US, everything is bigger. 👍😄 Very true. My biggest island layout is 3m x 1.2m. Similar to UK layouts.
Even 3m x 1.2m is quite big for the UK.
I wasnt sure if i was going to add lights to my lava base or not. You convinced me to do do 😂 looks way more realistic
It really does make a huge difference. I have some lava painted in fluorescent that look good then you turn the lights on and it looks amazing!
Not in a position to financially support at this point Kathy. Good luck with your channels.
I totally understand and thank you for the support you do give me. Finance isn’t everything!
Holy hell that's amazing!
Thank you so much!
@@KathyMillatt you're welcome 👍👍
